Chapter 58 Jealousy is worse than death.

Chapter 58 Jealousy is worse than death.

The two looked at each other silently, without saying a word.

Cheng Yi stared intently at her, gazing into her moist pupils, a surge of irrepressible impulse rising within him.

He couldn't remember how young he had started believing that emotions were the least important thing to show. For years he could remain calm and collected, but now, though he appeared calm, his chest was already brimming with boiling impulses.

He wanted her.

He longed to hear her voice, to hear her call him "Xiao Yi." She didn't know how powerful she was; with just a few words, she could shatter his strong will and make him spinelessly submit to her.

The intense possessiveness that had been brewing in the shadows spread uncontrollably. Desire raged like wildfire, evil growing wildly, burning him with an uncontrollable intensity. Every scene of their naked, passionate lovemaking—the allure, the heat, the intimacy, the desperate gasps—spread wildly through his mind. He swallowed her screams, she clawed at his shoulders, both cruelly abusing each other, seeking only the overwhelming pleasure of being imprisoned and exploited.

now--

Only strangers remain.

He clenched his teeth so tightly that he dared not look at her again.

...

Her breath was filled with his scent, and Yuwu almost couldn't control her tears.

Meeting his eyes, Yu Wu held her breath. A surge of emotions overwhelmed her; a fear gripped her, a desire to escape rising within her. Her legs felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, firmly planted on the ground, unable to move. Being in the same space as him was a luxury; she couldn't even bear to blink. They remained silent, the air growing thinner with each passing moment.

She knew she was despicable and selfish, and she peeled back his flesh to probe his dignity.

Public opinion is all-pervasive, and gossip is ever-present. His previous silence became a helpless acquiescence, and his recent admission became the most irrefutable evidence of his guilt.

The Cheng family, which had always been low-key, suddenly appeared in the public eye as a disgraceful mistress, turning it into a frenzied frenzy. His nobility was fake, his affection a joke, and the bystanders and moral exemplars, who were none of their business, were the most respectable and sophisticated critics, amplifying and distorting every detail, drowning out the truth with frenzied malice, and indulging in the twisted pleasure of trampling authority underfoot.

They wouldn't dare to do it to his face, but behind his back, people would say all sorts of things.

Their malice and excitement brought Cheng Yi down from his pedestal. They called him a cheap mistress who practically begged for his affections, unable to win a girl's heart even through force, and speculated that he was a spineless coward who couldn't get an erection...

...

At first, she only wanted to enjoy the novelty and pleasure of this physical relationship, building high walls around her unshakeable heart, drowning all her meager courage in fear. It was he who gradually tolerated her, not disliking her stubbornness and emotional indifference, seeing through her pretense, supporting her brokenness, wiping away her tears, and holding her tight.

While he was envisioning a bright and promising future for the two of them, she shattered his dream with her own hands, turning his sincere feelings into a laughing stock that everyone in the industry could trample on.

She knew she was to blame for all the consequences, yet she felt ashamed and regretted it.

She outwardly pretends to be no different from a normal person, but in reality, she is twisted, with fear and hatred constantly tearing at her mind.

...

In the end, he didn't say a word and strode away.

Yu Wu stared at his tall, broad back, her eyes stinging. She wanted to say something, but after opening her mouth, she slowly pursed it, and her courage quietly slipped away.

*

As Cheng Yi drove his car out of the parking lot, he bumped into Ke Yanchen and his group of people from Chengnan standing on the side of the road.

Suddenly, a pair of snow-white arms appeared in his line of sight, linked with Ke Yanchen's, their delicate whiteness piercing his pupils.

A thought suddenly popped into my head: Where are they going back to? Are they living together?

Had he ever seen her, helpless and weak, moaning pitifully with tears welling in her eyes, under the fierce encirclement?

Does he even deserve it?

The mist is his.

It can only be his.

The intense jealousy nearly drove him to madness; his morbid possessiveness formed a twisted vortex, drawing him deeper and deeper, his blood clamoring with boiling desire.

—It would be better if they all died.

He wanted them all to die. He wanted to kill everyone, kill Ke Yanchen, take Yu Wu away, possess her completely, tear her apart, and leave his mark on every part of her.

He longed to peel her skin off, lick her fear, swallow her screams, devour her whole, and become one with her completely.

Cheng Yi hardened his heart and suddenly slammed on the gas pedal like a madman. The crowd erupted in chaos, and the horns of several surrounding cars blared in a deafening cacophony. The Audi RS beneath him hummed like a beast, and he gritted his teeth, his eyes fixed intently on Ke Yanchen.

The next second, the mist beside Ke Yanchen peeked out. His heart tightened suddenly, and he swerved, making a screeching sound as it flew past Ke Yanchen's toes.

Throughout the entire process, Ke Yanchen's dark eyes silently and defiantly met his gaze, showing no sign of backing down.

*

As the car drove home, a long line of cars and flashing neon lights stretched out before us.

Ke Yanchen drove, his handsome and clear face covered with frost. Ever since Cheng Yi made that scene, his expression had been off.

After Yu Wu's attempt to start a conversation received a lukewarm response from him, she quieted down.

Finally, in an eerie silence, they arrived at Xiting. Ke Yanchen turned off the engine and slowly turned his head to look at her, his handsome face shrouded in shadow. His gaze was sharp and somewhat oppressive, as if he had the urge to kill her.

His question was like a thunderclap striking straight into the gloomy fog.

"Have you slept together?"

Yu Wu's mind went blank. She didn't know why Ke Yanchen was so concerned about this question. She looked puzzled and murmured, "Ke Ke, why are you asking this?"

The man's face suddenly loomed closer, cornering her. He grabbed her chin, staring intently at her expression, and said, word by word, "Don't try to fool me."

Yu Wu seemed unable to bear his scrutiny any longer, lowered her eyelashes, and looked pitiful, as if she had been wronged.

"I don't."

She wasn't telling the truth.

Cheng Yi's extreme anger nearly killed him; it's impossible that nothing happened between Yu Wu and Cheng Yi.

His inner rage was about to erupt; his face was tense and contorted, and a roar, suppressed in his chest, burst forth: "Tell me the truth!"

Startled, Yu Wu shrank back, pursed her lips, and tremblingly extended a delicate, fair hand.

"Then hit me."

She raised her eyelashes, her eyelids reddening, her face extremely aggrieved, her voice choked with emotion: "Pick me, please don't blame me, okay?"

In that instant, his anger and resentment vanished. Her softened attitude was almost unbearable. He pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth, desperately suppressing his urge. He really wanted to kiss her hard, to kiss her to death.

Oh well, she's his now anyway.

He pulled her tightly into his arms, gripping her lower back as if he wanted to crush her and press her into his bones.

"Did I act impulsively and scare you?" His voice was muffled and hoarse.

Yu Wu sniffed. "Ke Ke, it's not your fault."

She was so sensible. Ke Yanchen ruffled her hair and placed a burning kiss on her ear.

“I will make it up to you,” he said in a hoarse voice.

...

Ke Yanchen escorted Yu Wu upstairs, lingering at the door, reluctant to part.

Yu Wu glanced at the time and scolded him, "Ke Ke, it's getting late!"

Ke Yanchen chuckled, grabbed her hand and kissed it again before reluctantly pressing the elevator button.

After he left, Yuwu stopped smiling and went to the emergency exit.

She had just felt a burning gaze fixed on her.

The emergency exit was quiet and deserted, except for a pile of cigarette butts.

*

After that, Ke Yanchen started driving Yu Wu to and from get off work every day, taking her out to eat every day, and taking her to his friends' parties.

Interestingly, Cheng Yi and his group seemed to be deliberately vying for territory with Ke Yanchen. Normally, they operated in the north of the city, but now they were consistently in the south, constantly outmaneuvering Ke Yanchen. Every time Ke Yanchen's appointments were cancelled at the last minute, the lobby manager would apologize profusely and offer compensation.

The previous times were one thing, but today is Ye Ren's new girlfriend Luo Yueke's celebration party. Luo Yueke is a minor celebrity, usually not very popular, but her recent TV series became a hit as soon as it premiered, making her an overnight sensation.

Ye Ren, looking furious, came out to argue: "I called to confirm before we left! Why is it not allowed now! I don't care, I'm taking this spot today!"

The lobby manager, sweating profusely, bowed slightly and apologized, "Young Master Cheng just called to say he's booked the entire place. You know, we can't afford to offend him..."

"Trying to pick on the weak, huh?" Ke Yanchen's pupils were gloomy as he took a deep drag on his cigarette, his aura intimidating.

The lobby manager just kept apologizing.

Ye Ren led the way, and seven or eight men tried to break in, creating chaos and noise.

......

A powerful sports car roar suddenly tore through the air, carrying a cold, metallic quality that was both sharp and heavy. The vibrations from the ground traveled from eardrums to heart, making one feel a tightness and discomfort in the chest. Yu Wu frowned, and the surrounding chaos quieted down as everyone looked in the direction of the sound.

Ten meters away.

The convoy pulled up one after another, filled with top-tier, limited-edition luxury cars from around the world. Bugatti Centodieci, Rolls-Royce Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow, Pagani Huayra Codalunga Speedster, Lamborghini Fenomeno, Koenigsegg One:1, and many more...

More than twenty pairs of eyes were fixed on the person in the very center.

The door of the Bugatti Centodieci in the center of the inner circle opened, revealing a tall, arrogant man who casually glanced at the crowd before turning away. He led a distinguished entourage of dissolute young men and women, swaggering into the club right in front of the group from the south of the city.

Silence reigned.

Once the group had completely disappeared from sight, Ye Ren and the others finally reacted, grabbing the lobby manager by the collar and demanding an explanation.

As if sensing something, Yu Wu slowly raised her head, her heart feeling both bitter and heavy.

The surrounding temperature rose, and a gentle breeze rustled.

Standing before the enormous floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor, a tall, slender man with hunched shoulders casually held a cigarette dangling from his lips, its crimson glow faintly visible. His expression was indifferent as he looked down at Yu Wu, scrutinizing him as if judging the sins of a soul, devoid of any emotion, his eyes and brows radiating a cold indifference that kept everyone at arm's length.

That gaze, cold as an ice blade, pressed down on my heart every second, tearing at my skin and cutting me piece by piece.

With just that one look, she could feel the power of the storm.
