Chapter 64 Fireworks [Abuse of Cheng] I'm very obedient.
The two walked out of the hospital together; it was already dark outside. Cars were coming and going on the streets, and in the distance, warm lights were on in every apartment building, creating a cozy and lively atmosphere full of life.
Yu Wu sat on a public seat, her tone indifferent and aloof: "Thank you for today. You can go back now. I'll wait for Ke Yanchen."
Cheng Yi, hands in his pockets, looked down at her, his tone cold and calm: "Are you sure you want to provoke me now?"
Yu Wu stared coldly at him, her eyelids red and moist. "I'm already pathetic enough. Have you had enough of the joke? Let me remind you, if you release the photos now, it will be an even bigger blow to me."
The distant hustle and bustle of traffic drifted by, and the October night breeze, carrying a hint of moisture, brushed gently against their cheeks. The two faced each other in a cold silence, their hearts filled with bitter emotions.
"Yesterday was my fault."
He wore a well-made white shirt and trousers, his expression indifferent and aloof, his eyes drooping and elongated, giving her a detached and disdainful look.
Yu Wu stiffened for a moment, looked away, lowered her head, not wanting to face him, her voice weary.
"Chengyi, let's stop having any conflicts between us. Let's pretend that everything was my fault before. You can think or do whatever you want, I won't complain."
As soon as the words were spoken, more than a dozen streaks of light pierced the night sky simultaneously, their petals unfolding layer upon layer, creating a dazzling spectacle. Everyone in the hospital rushed out and gathered together, cheering and jumping for joy at the fireworks; jubilation filled the air.
The shimmering petals bloomed in the sky, hovering for a full five seconds before falling in a flurry of golden dust. Even Yu Wu was distracted, glancing at them for a few moments before finally managing a stunned sigh of admiration.
Cheng Yi didn't turn around once. He took a step closer and slowly knelt down on one knee in front of her. Against the backdrop of fireworks in the night sky, his injured cheek pressed against Yu Wu's palm. His sparse eyelashes trembled slightly. He breathed heavily and looked up at Yu Wu for a long time before speaking softly.
"The fiancée is fake, and the photos are fake too."
"I apologize for all my irrational behavior before. I was really crazy, I really wanted you by my side."
Yu Wu stared at him expressionlessly.
He had been living in fear and anxiety all day, but Cheng Yi casually told him that there were no photos at all.
What a sharp irony.
Cheng Yi, who usually exudes a domineering and wicked aura, is now begging for mercy in a humble manner.
His usually deep, unfathomable eyes were now filled with piety, his eye sockets reddened, bathed in the dim yellow light of the streetlamp overhead. He rubbed his cheek against Yu Wu's palm, revealing his softest heart, a posture of surrender and cuddling.
"I'm very well-behaved, I haven't touched her, my body and mind are both clean."
"Without you, I really would die."
"Come home with me, okay?"
Their eyes met.
Yu Wu looked at him.
She was truly exhausted and didn't want to get caught up in this pointless entanglement. Yesterday's private photos had left her utterly disappointed, and she just wanted to get away from him completely.
She looked at him calmly and coldly, her words piercing his heart like sharp swords.
"Then why don't you just die?"
...
A cool night breeze swept through his dark, tousled hair. He stared intently at her, completely unfazed by the fireworks exploding behind him and the cheering crowds. Cold, wet tears streamed down his face silently.
He cried quietly.
Yu Wu never expected him to cry.
She stared at him blankly, a bitter taste churning in her heart. The wind stung her eyes, blurring them, but she remained stern, her voice choked with emotion: "Go to hell."
Cheng Yi reached out his slender, bony fingers to wipe away her tears, his eyes filled with tender pity, and said softly, "I once promised you a lifetime of happiness, but I broke my promise."
"Yuko, I will never hurt you again."
"I'm sorry, please don't cry."
Countless golden bouquets slowly rose, blooming to their fullest extent, turning the entire sky gold, amidst a cacophony of screams and cheers. Though in the same place, the crowds ahead radiated happiness and hope, while here the atmosphere was a bloody mess.
A series of booming explosions lit up the night sky as uniquely shaped, colorful fireworks burst forth. Excited shouts and laughter echoed through the air, every face beaming with happiness and joy. In this celebratory atmosphere, Yu Wu leaned back in her chair, blending into the darkness, letting the wet streaks spread across her face, her expression numb as she watched the fireworks unfold. Cheng Yi, head bowed and shoulders slumped, exuded loneliness, never once looking up as he walked alone through the bustling crowd, turning his back on all the joy.

When Ao Ziye kidnapped Fang Haidao and the tattooed man and handed them over to Ke Yanchen, Ke Yanchen was in a chaotic mess, searching for people with the lobby manager.
After explaining the situation, Ke Yanchen began to viciously punch Fang Haidao repeatedly in front of everyone.
Ao Ziye, a cigarette dangling from his fingertips, leaned casually against the car door, his words dripping with sarcasm: "Do you know the biggest difference between you and Cheng Yi? When Yu Wu was in trouble, Cheng Yi's first priority was to comfort her and ensure her safety, and then he sent me to watch over her. What about you? All you do is vent your anger in your incompetence. Do you love it when your girlfriend is bullied and you lose face, or do you truly love Yu Wu?"
"Which is more important, her psychological trauma or venting your anger?"
"Like a childish big boy, never growing up."
Ye Ren stepped forward and grabbed Ao Ziye by the collar, his face full of ferocity. "Do you believe I'll beat you up?"
Ao Ziye curled his lips sarcastically and clicked his tongue: "Look at them, a bunch of kindergarten kids."
The southern part of the city instantly became chaotic, wanting to rush over and teach him a lesson, but they were stopped by the people around them. They pointed at Ao Ziye from a distance and made threatening remarks, and the scene was about to break out.
The biting sarcasm pierced his ears, word by word. Ke Yanchen, panting, raised his head, coldly lifted his eyelids, and pressed down on his hand, instantly quelling the commotion behind him. He stepped forward and patted Ye Ren's shoulder, signaling Ye Ren to let go.
Ye Ren reluctantly let go.
Ke Yanchen glanced at Ao Ziye expressionlessly, took out his phone, swiped it, and unexpectedly saw the hospital address that Cheng Yi had sent him. So he didn't say a word, turned around and got into the car.
......
When Ke Yanchen arrived at the hospital entrance, the fireworks display had already come to an end.
He had only taken a few steps after getting off the bus when he saw the slender figure on the public bench.
They stood out especially from the lively atmosphere of couples.
He walked silently, step by step, to Yuwu. His body was stiff, his mouth slightly open, yet he felt that any words would be inadequate.
So he stepped forward and pulled her into a tight embrace.
The cold, wet tears brushed against his neck, chilling him to the bone.
His voice was tired and hoarse: "I'm sorry, I'm late."
"Keke, it's not your fault." Yuwu looked frightened and in dire need of comfort, her voice trembling with sobs. "It's good to be able to see you."
Ke Yanchen's warm kisses landed on her hair, and he repeatedly said sorry in a low, mellow voice.
Yuwu never blamed him from beginning to end.
He stroked her hair, his eyes lowered, his dark pupils fixed on her. "Yu Zi, you don't have to be so understanding. You can blame me; it's my fault."
Yu Wu's pupils shone with a clear, sparkling light as she asked in a daze, "Really?"
Ke Yanchen's dark, cold eyes were filled with pity and sincerity as he nodded slightly.
She said, "Then hold out your hand and let me hit you."
Before Ke Yanchen could react, Yu Wu pulled out his hand, slapped it lightly, and then pulled him down to sit, obediently leaning on his shoulder.
"Keke, you must protect me next time."
"Watch the fireworks with me for a while."
"Okay." Ke Yanchen put his arm around her shoulder, continuously giving her warmth. Even though they were so close, he felt like he could never enter her heart.
He tilted his head, lifted his eyelids to look at her, at her profile where her eye makeup was smudged. He didn't know how to fill the emptiness in his heart. After a long while, he lowered his thin inner folds, only to tighten his arms again.
As the fireworks came to an end, the previous deafening roar turned into a series of soft crackling sounds, and the powder, carried by the wind, rustled through the treetops and fell in a flurry.
The crowd gradually dispersed, returning to silence; the curtain fell on everything.
