Before the words were even finished, the customer service representative from before stormed in with over thirty people.
The group acted swiftly. Upon spotting Chuanliu and Zhuiming, they immediately formed a circle around the main hall, blocking all escape routes for the two men.
They were all armed, and included people of all shapes and sizes, genders, and appearances. It seemed this customer service representative had gathered all the assassins willing to help him as quickly as possible.
The assassins who can be commanded by customer service are estimated to be at a low or mid-level. If they use a large number of assassins, that would indeed be troublesome.
Chuanliu immediately made a judgment.
One of the shirtless burly men pointed menacingly at Chuanliu and said to customer service, "Brother Xiang, these two are here to cause trouble, right? Leave these two weaklings to me!"
As he spoke, he stepped out from the crowd, carrying a spiked club. "You two have some nerve, daring to cause trouble at the 'Dark Gate'!" The burly man cracked his neck, making a move as if to attack.
"Wait a moment!"
Chuanliu suddenly spread his arms, with an expression that seemed to say "maintain peace."
The burly man grinned and said, "What? Scared already?"
Chuanliu straightened up, cleared his throat, and said, "I've come to 'The Dark Gate' to discuss business. We've already signed a contract for 300,000. If you're all interested, we can discuss it further."
Upon hearing "three hundred thousand," everyone immediately stopped what they were doing, wanting to hear the woman continue.
Upon seeing this, the customer service representative, known as Brother Xiang, quickly interrupted, "Don't believe her! She's Chuanliu from Cube City, she's here for revenge!"
"Chuanliu on the kill order?" Everyone was stunned and subconsciously looked at the bulletin board. Sure enough, they saw a sketch portrait that looked 70% similar to the woman.
The next moment, greed appeared on everyone's face.
Three hundred thousand is right in front of them, who wouldn't want a piece of the pie?
Chuanliu frowned slightly and continued to remind them, "Gentlemen, if I remember correctly, according to your rules, the one who will ultimately collect the money is the assassin who is now killing me. Even if you kill me, you won't get a single penny!"
Upon hearing this, everyone hesitated again.
Brother Xiang was sweating profusely with anxiety and immediately said, "At worst, we can talk to the guy whose turn it is now and ask him to give us seventy or eighty thousand. If we help him get rid of this woman, he wouldn't even be willing to give us this little bit of money, would he?"
Several quick-thinking assassins had already been persuaded and were eager to try their luck, weapons in hand. Some even stood in front of the burly man from the beginning and said to Brother Xiang, "I, I'll do it! Brother Xiang, we've agreed, you can talk to that assassin later."
"Okay!" Brother Xiang didn't care that this would break the rules, and gritted his teeth and agreed.
This incitement caused most of the assassins to reveal their greedy nature. Of course, two or three felt this broke the rules and left. None of the assassins present made the first move; instead, they watched Chuanliu intently, waiting for the first person to take the lead.
The two men and the thirty-odd people stood in silent confrontation.
A breeze swept into the main hall, bringing a refreshing coolness. The faint scent of vegetation wafting from the front courtyard corridor also filled the air, prompting everyone to take a deep breath.
Just as someone was about to make a move, Chuanliu suddenly broke the deadlock and spoke again, "Chuanliu has come to see Lord Tang Qing, the Queen of Spades, and has no ill intentions towards any of you."
Someone else repeated what Brother Xiang had said before: "Our sect leader isn't someone you can just see whenever you want!"
Chuanliu shook his head regretfully, "Since that's the case, then don't blame me for showing no mercy!"
"Fine! We'll see how you show no mercy!"
The crowd immediately became enraged and raised their weapons, ready to charge.
Unexpectedly, Zhuiming and Chuanliu had no intention of confronting them head-on. Instead, they used the various furnishings in the main hall as cover to cleverly evade their attacks.
Chuanliu shot out a hemp rope, which quickly wrapped around the sturdy wooden beam. She leaped lightly, swinging in the air like a swallow, and then, using the inertia of the rope, she gracefully flipped over and landed steadily on the high beam.
Seeing this, the assassins immediately piled up the surrounding tables and chairs, attempting to climb onto the roof beams to capture the girl. However, she saw through their intentions first. The rope in her hand seemed to come alive, nimbly wrapping around the chair legs, and then she pulled hard. The powerful pull instantly threw the enemies on the chairs to the ground, where they fell to the ground in a sorry state, wincing in pain.
Zhui Ming, on the other hand, moved nimbly through the crowd like a fish in water. His movements were superb; he tumbled and leaped, seemingly right in front of everyone, yet impossible to get close to. The crowd tried to grab him, but each time, just as they were about to touch him, he skillfully evaded them, leaving them blinded by rage and unable to even touch a hair on his clothes.
The one who contributed the most and wanted Chuanliu to die the most was Brother Xiang. He fanned the flames from the sidelines while trying to finish off any remaining enemies. He kept pacing back and forth on the edge of the main hall, acting suspiciously.
Meanwhile, several assassins had already quietly climbed onto the roof beams from the other side.
The group crawled along the roof beams like ghosts, their eyes fixed on the flowing water, a greedy glint in their eyes, as if the girl before them wasn't human, but glittering gold. Their movements were relatively nimble; judging by their skill, they were likely mid-level assassins.
One of the assassins launched the first attack, wielding a short knife and rapidly closing in from Chuanliu's side. However, Chuanliu was prepared. She anticipated his movements through subtle sounds and actions, nimbly sidestepping and skillfully dodging the blow. At the same time, she swung the hemp rope in her hand, instantly wrapping it around the assassin's ankle, and with a sharp pull, slammed him against the roof beam.
Just as an assassin's weapon was about to strike her, the girl deftly dodged the blade to the side, and using a protruding wooden beam from the roof, she flipped over and leaped to the other side, causing the assassin's attack to miss.
Seeing this, another assassin immediately attacked from behind the girl. Chuanliu quickly adjusted her body posture, cleverly dodging the attack by using the structure of the roof beams. At the same time, the hemp rope in her hand struck again, accurately wrapping around the man's waist, and with a twist, binding him tightly to the roof beam.
Then, using the assassin as a anchor, Chuanliu followed the other end of the rope back to the ground.
Her appearance immediately caused a stir among the many assassins on the ground, who immediately surrounded her and attacked her.
But this time, the girl did not choose to hide. Instead, she smiled and looked at everyone, beginning her "role-playing".
"It's almost time."
Everyone was taken aback and fell into a brief silence.
