What's he doing here?
Chuanliu couldn't help but frown.
She quickly exchanged a glance with Zhui Ming, who understood immediately. He raised an eyebrow and disappeared into the shadows of the living room like a ghost.
A moment later, the guard led a guest into the living room.
At this moment, Chuanliu was sitting quietly by the tea table, intently brewing tea.
As the tea leaves unfurl in the boiling water, they release a delicate fragrance that permeates the entire living room, instantly invigorating visitors.
"What brings you to my humble abode so late at night, sir?"
When Chuanliu saw the man walk in, he stood up, smiled, and asked softly.
The man's face was cold and expressionless, but his tone carried a barely perceptible mockery, "It's been so long, Miss Chuanliu has become quite refined."
Chuanliu seemed oblivious to the man's subtle emotions and naturally gestured for him to sit down.
Before the man could react, she had already plopped down on her own.
The man hesitated for a moment, but eventually sat down on the sofa opposite Chuanliu. He didn't speak immediately, but quietly observed Chuanliu, trying to force him to show weakness first with a silent pressure.
Chuanliu, however, remained unusually calm, continuing to focus intently on brewing tea.
She poured the tea from the pot into the man's cup and her own, gesturing for him to drink. Then, she picked up her teacup, gently slid the lid, and sipped the tea, as if the man before her didn't exist in the room.
The man was surprised that Chuanliu was so composed, so he picked up his teacup in the same manner as Chuanliu and praised him, "Your tea-making skills are quite good."
Chuanliu smiled slightly, a faint curve appearing at the corner of his mouth, but he still did not take the initiative to ask the man's purpose.
The two sat facing each other, each sipping their tea. The atmosphere seemed harmonious, but it was actually stiff and cold.
Neither the flowing water nor the man spoke; they were both waiting for the other to speak first.
After the man finished his cup of tea and watched the time tick by, he became restless.
He put down his teacup, but to his surprise, Chuanliu picked up the teapot again, wanting to refill his tea.
That's enough.
The man blocked Chuanliu's movement and made an excuse for himself, saying, "I can't sleep because I drank too much tea tonight."
The latter then stopped what she was doing, poured herself some more tea, and picked it up again. Judging from her posture, it seemed she could keep the man company and drink tea with him all night if he didn't speak.
Watching her unhurried movements, the man finally couldn't hold back and said, "Chuanliu, I've come to see you today because I have something to discuss."
The girl quickly put down her teacup and said with concern, "Look at you, why didn't you say so earlier? I thought you came here specifically to drink tea."
The man's lips twitched; the show of force he had intended to give the woman had backfired on him.
He stopped being coy and cleared his throat, saying, "I'm here on behalf of the higher-ups to express my condolences to you."
You've succeeded Xu Zhi as "Cube 10" for some time now, but it seems you don't manage the Red Peach Winery he left behind. While we have no right to interfere with how you operate your businesses, your assets do represent the strength of our Cube City, and completely ignoring them wouldn't be in accordance with the rules..."
The visitor was none other than Liu Xingxing, one of the four high-ranking members of the City of Blocks, known as "Block K".
His expression was cold, and he spoke these words as if he were a robot, devoid of any emotion. Normal words, spoken in this tone, sounded less like a consolation and more like an interrogation.
Chuanliu didn't believe that Liu Xingxing's purpose in coming to her house so late was to inquire about her business. Moreover, given the investigative capabilities of the formidable "King of Diamonds," she didn't believe that Liu Xingxing wouldn't know that Red Peach Winery had been transferred to Qian Chuan's hands.
It can only be said that Liu Xingxing's visit this time must have been for ulterior motives.
Although he thought this way, Chuanliu still gave Liu Xingxing plenty of face on the surface.
She clasped her hands together and explained, "It's like this, I'm not very good at running these things, so I sold Red Peach Winery to Brother Qian Liu a while ago. So, if you ask me how the winery is doing, I really don't know."
Liu Xingxing already knew about this, so she wasn't surprised by the girl's words.
He simply nodded coldly and continued, "I see. No wonder you're still holed up in that little villa called 'Square 3.' But you are 'Square 10' after all. Without income, how will you support so many people in your family?"
Chuanliu looked at the villa and smiled. "I've learned something. I'll think about this carefully later."
Liu Xingxing followed her gaze and suddenly asked, "I heard you haven't been home for a while?"
Are we finally getting to the main topic?
Chuanliu narrowed his eyes, becoming wary, and smiled, "I didn't expect the higher-ups at Cube to care about me so much."
Liu Xingxing snorted coldly, no longer bothering with her beating around the bush, "After plum blossoms, you're going to red peaches. Your schedule is busier than mine, it's hard not to care."
Chuanliu's heart was filled with alarm bells. Liu Xingxing was actually investigating his whereabouts!
Fortunately, he seemed unaware that he had been to the City of Spades. That meant that Liu Xingxing's information might not be complete.
Is this the idea of higher-ups, or his own?
How much does he know? And who else knows?
Chuanliu remained outwardly calm, but he had already begun to consider a solution. "You're joking. I'm just a newcomer to Paradise Island, and I haven't seen much of the world. Wandering around here has broadened my horizons, don't you think?"
"Is that so?"
Liu Xingxing's eyes showed a clear curiosity. "You led people to Plum Blossom City to cause trouble for Hou Yifan, and then you found people to help Huang Chunling from Red Peach City. A couple of days ago, you made a bet with Cao He and he died. Your way of broadening your horizons is really unconventional."
