Chapter 29 What happened to us last night?

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng stood up at the same time to greet Song Xu. "Brother Xu, we've come to stay with you. School starts the day after tomorrow, and since your home is close to Jiang University, it saves us the trouble of traveling."

“Jiangda’s dorms are the closest, so you can stay on campus,” Song Xu said coldly.

"Brother Xu, we're not used to living in dorms. What if our roommates don't shower, have smelly feet, or snore, grind their teeth, or fart at night? How are we supposed to live?" Xiao Heng said aggrievedly.

“Yes, yes,” Shen Yan echoed.

"You can apply for a double room; the environment is quite nice," Song Xu patiently suggested, just don't stay at his house.

“We still need to clean up,” Shen Yan sighed. “We should be focusing all our energy on studying, not on these things.”

Lin Xi heard everything clearly in the restaurant. She didn't expect that Shen Yan and Xiao Heng were also from Jiangbei University. When did Jiangbei University become so easy to get into?

It wasn't that she looked down on Chen Yan and Xiao Heng, but judging from their demeanor, they didn't seem to enjoy studying at all. If Song Xu could get into Jiangbei University, she might believe it.

However, she quickly realized that there is nothing in this world that money cannot solve, and only ordinary people like her can rely on the rope of learning to keep striving to climb upwards.

For second-generation rich kids like Shen Yan and Xiao Heng, their families have already paved the way for them to go from one peak to another.

"President Song, the food is ready," Lin Xi said, breaking the silence when she saw the three of them standing there awkwardly. "Why don't you change your clothes first before eating? It won't taste good if it gets cold."

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng are her only two major clients right now, and she needs to maintain good relationships with them.

When Song Xu heard Lin Xi call him to dinner, the cold expression on his face softened a little. He glanced at Chen Yan and Xiao Heng and said, "You can leave after you finish eating."

Song Xu turned and walked to the dining room, glancing at the food on the table. It was still four dishes and a soup, but the portions were much larger, more than enough for four people.

There were three bowls of rice on the table. His eyes narrowed, and he looked up at Lin Xi, ordering, "You eat with us, and go get another bowl of rice."

"Okay," Lin Xi nodded in agreement.

She had eaten some snacks in her room in the afternoon, so she wasn't really hungry now. Besides, she didn't really want to sit and eat with Song Xu and the other two; it felt rather awkward.

However, since her employer insisted, she had no choice but to comply and went to the kitchen to serve herself half a bowl of rice.

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng had already sat down, sitting side by side.

Lin Xi looked at the seats. She had placed Song Xu's cutlery at the very top of the table, and she sat down one seat away from Xiao Heng.

Song Xu, dressed in his pajamas, walked to the dining table and saw that Lin Xi was seated between him and him. His brows furrowed involuntarily.

He pulled out the chair next to Lin Xi, moved the cutlery in front of him, picked up his chopsticks, and said, "Eat!"

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng were hungry. They had stayed up all night playing games together, and when they woke up it was already noon. They didn't even have time to eat before rushing to Song Xu's house to find Lin Xi.

This is their first meal of the day.

They asked for more rice twice before slowing down their eating pace.

Lin Xi was dumbfounded. They hadn't eaten for days, but luckily she had cooked extra rice.

Song Xu was used to this. These two brats had irregular schedules, sometimes eating too much and sometimes not, which would eventually cause them stomach problems.

Even though Song Xu was annoyed with Shen Yan and Xiao Heng, they were brothers who had grown up together. Song Xu was even a year older than them, so he couldn't help but remind them, "You can't keep going like this after school starts. Don't think you're so young and healthy that you can do whatever you want. There are plenty of people your age who have cancer."

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng suddenly lost their appetite; how did they end up talking to death?

"Lin Xi, aren't you going to university too?" Shen Yan asked after swallowing the food in his mouth.

Lin Xi nodded, without mentioning that she and they were at the same university.

"Are you still working as a nanny at Brother Xu's house, or are you going back to working as a part-time cleaner?" Shen Yan looked at Lin Xi expectantly. He hoped that Lin Xi would continue working as a part-time cleaner so that he could hire her for a fee.

But Lin Xi's answer disappointed him.

“I want to continue working as a live-in nanny,” Lin Xi said, having finished eating and putting down her chopsticks. “President Song said I can do it during my rest time.”

Song Xu glared at Chen Yan, "What Lin Xi does is none of your business?"

“Lin Xi is a good cook. In order to live a few more years, Xiao Heng and I are thinking of hiring her to cook for us,” Shen Yan smiled at Song Xu. “Brother Xu, how about we discuss it and borrow Lin Xi for a few days a week?”

Shen Yan's words displeased Lin Xi. She was not some object; how could she be borrowed and passed around like that?

She didn't show it, looking down at the table. If it weren't for the fact that Shen Yan was her client, she would have already snapped back.

“I signed a contract with Lin Xi. No one but me can order her to do things at will. She only serves me.”

Song Xu casually placed a piece of pork rib into Lin Xi's bowl, then glanced at his two brothers across from him, "I will personally contact Uncle Shen and Uncle Xiao and ask them to look after your personal lives."

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng's expressions changed. They were fearless, but they were afraid that Song Xu would come looking for their father.

They weren't afraid of their dad hitting them or scolding them; what they were afraid of was their dad cutting off their bank cards.

“Brother Xu, there’s no need to go to so much trouble,” Shen Yan and Xiao Heng smiled reluctantly. “Starting tomorrow, we will definitely go to bed early and get up early, live and eat at home, and have three meals a day without missing a single one.”

Song Xu gave a faint "Mmm," and asked, "Have you all eaten?"

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng nodded, "We're full, really full."

“Then you should go back and rest early,” Song Xu pointed to the front door. “Wake up at seven o’clock tomorrow morning and video check in.”

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng cursed Song Xu's ruthlessness in their hearts, but smiled obsequiously, "Your subject obeys the decree!"

Song Xu waved his hand, "Step down!"

Shen Yan and Xiao Heng slunk away.

Lin Xi was amused by the interaction between the three of them and lowered her head to suppress her laughter.

"Stop laughing and eat quickly," Song Xu tapped the table. "You haven't eaten enough tonight."

"I'm not very hungry." Lin Xi forced herself to finish the ribs in her bowl, afraid of wasting food.

After watching her finish eating, Song Xu pondered for a moment and then asked, "Have you changed the sheets in my room?"

Upon hearing this, Lin Xi's body immediately tensed up, and his face turned from white to red. Oh my god, could he have seen blood?

Song Xu saw Lin Xi's reaction all along. He narrowed his eyes and said, "I drank too much last night, we..."

"Nothing happened between us last night!" Lin Xi jumped up and hurriedly cleared the dishes from the table. "I'll go wash the dishes."

She was so nervous that her hands were shaking, and she dropped the bowl she was holding.
