Chapter 30 That Blood Is Mine
Song Xu reacted quickly and picked up Lin Xi in an instant, causing the porcelain bowl to fall to the ground and shatter into pieces.
Lin Xi's heart broke too; she had to pay compensation.
Leaning against Song Xu's chest, Lin Xi frowned. Catching the falling bowl should be easier than lifting her off the ground.
She couldn't understand how this man's brain worked; he seemed like a very intelligent person.
"Mr. Song, the bowl is broken," Lin Xi tilted her head to look at the broken porcelain bowl. "This bowl must have cost several thousand or tens of thousands of yuan, right?"
"Stop examining the broken bowl," Song Xu said, somewhat exasperated, as he checked Lin Xi's calf. "Are you alright?"
"I don't think so," Lin Xi said, not feeling any pain. "President Song, you can put me down now. I'll clean up the floor."
Song Xu carried Lin Xi to a safe spot before putting her down. "I'll go clean up. You might faint if you hurt yourself and bleed."
"I don't need to use my hands." Lin Xi didn't dare let Song Xu do it himself, so she ran to get the broom.
Her foot hadn't fully healed, and she was running with a limp. Song Xu frowned as he watched her. He took the broom and collected the broken pieces of porcelain from the ground into the dustpan.
Lin Xi, with keen insight, took away the broom and dustpan, and then used the floor scrubber to mop the restaurant floor again.
After cleaning the floor, she was about to wash the dishes and tidy up the kitchen when Song Xu grabbed her arm. "Take a break first. I have something to ask you."
Lin Xi tensed up again. "President Song, what do you want to ask?"
"Did I do anything to you last night?" Song Xu asked directly, voicing his true feelings.
Lin Xi lowered her eyes and pondered for a moment. She decided not to mention what happened last night. Song Xu's question meant he had no recollection of what happened last night.
Since that's the case, let's just let it go. She still has to continue working for Song Xu.
“Mr. Song, two men brought you home last night. They helped you into the bedroom, and I took off your shoes and left. Nothing really happened.”
Song Xu raised an eyebrow and asked, "You left after helping me take off my shoes?"
Lin Xi nodded firmly.
“Heh,” Song Xu chuckled, “Then where did that bloodstain on my sheets come from? I’ve checked my body, and there are no wounds.”
"This..." Lin Xi was speechless. She had made the wrong bet; the bloodstains on the sheets had still been discovered. "That was your nosebleed; it accidentally got on the sheets."
"Nosebleed? Did you wipe it clean for me?" Song Xu asked, staring into Lin Xi's eyes.
Lin Xi felt uneasy under Song Xu's gaze, but she couldn't bring herself to say it was her menstrual blood. "It was...it was me who stopped the bleeding and cleaned it up for you."
She had never lied before; at that moment, her heart was beating at 160 beats per minute, and she could barely speak fluently.
“Look up and into my eyes,” Song Xu said coldly.
Lin Xi raised her head, but dared not look Song Xu in the eye, her gaze darting away.
"Aren't you afraid of blood? How come you calmly cleaned up my nosebleed?" Song Xu pinched Lin Xi's chin. "Which part of your statement was a lie?"
Lin Xi felt like she'd been struck by lightning; in her nervousness, she completely forgot about her fear of blood.
She looked distressed. "Mr. Song, I'm sorry, I lied. That blood was mine."
"Where...are you injured?" Song Xu's Adam's apple bobbed.
"I..." Lin Xi's face turned bright red. "I've started my period."
This answer was unexpected for Song Xu. No wonder Lin Xi seemed to have been hiding it all along; it was a bit embarrassing.
Song Xu released Lin Xi's chin. "It's good that you're not hurt. I thought I hurt you."
“No, no,” Lin Xi took a step back. “President Song, I have to go now.”
Lin Xi ran away as if fleeing.
Song Xu touched his chin, still feeling that Lin Xi was not telling the truth. How could her menstrual blood have gotten on his sheets? And what was with that image in his mind?
Well, at least he figured out that he hadn't done anything beastly to Lin Xi.
The next day, Lin Xi and Song Xu barely saw each other.
That evening, Lin Xi approached Song Xu and said, "President Song, I need to report to Jiang University tomorrow, so I'd like to ask for leave first."
This was agreed upon beforehand, and Song Xu certainly wouldn't stop Lin Xi. He nodded, "Sure, do you need me to take you there?"
"No need," Lin Xi quickly waved her hand, "It's very close to Jiang University, I can walk there."
This apartment is really close to Jiangda University, otherwise Shen Yan and Xiao Heng would always want to come and stay here.
Song Xu glanced at her feet and said, "Your feet aren't fully healed yet, so don't participate in the school's military training."
"This is your medical record, with the doctor's orders on it. The school won't make things difficult for you." Song Xu handed Lin Xi a file folder.
Lin Xi was worried about this. If she forced herself to participate in military training for a month, her foot would probably never heal.
She took the file folder and sincerely praised, "Thank you, Mr. Song, you are so thoughtful."
Song Xu appreciated it, saying, "You can ask me for help anytime you encounter trouble at school."
Lin Xi bowed to Song Xu and left his bedroom.
The next morning, Lin Xi and Song Xu had breakfast together, a rare occasion.
The two went downstairs together, said goodbye at the bottom, and then one went left and the other went right.
Lin Xi carried a canvas bag and slowly walked towards Jiang University.
The entrance to Jiangda University was bustling with activity today, with cars of all kinds almost blocking the entrance, as everyone was dropping off their children for school.
The child, escorted by the whole family, entered the gates of Jiangbei University.
Seeing that everyone else had family members who came to see them off, Lin Xi sighed softly. If her grandmother hadn't had that accident, she definitely would have personally brought her over too.
Following the signs, she first found the registration office of the law school. She took out her admission letter and handed it over, saying, "My name is Lin Xi, and this is my admission letter."
When the senior student in charge of reception saw Lin Xi, his ears immediately turned red. He took Lin Xi's admission notice and found her name on the sign-in sheet.
“So you’re a law student,” the senior student said, pointing to her name. “Sign your name here.”
After Lin Xi signed her name, her senior handed her a stack of forms. "Hey, why wasn't a dormitory assigned to Lin Xi?"
Fearing that Lin Xi would be anxious, the senior student comforted her, "Don't worry, let me make a call and ask."
Lin Xi wasn't in a hurry at all. She didn't want to stay in the dormitory in the first place and was worried that the school wouldn't agree. It would be great if no arrangements were made.
She tried several times to tell the senior about her situation, but each time he waved his hand at her, telling her to calm down.
Okay, let's wait for the senior to call and ask for clarification before we talk about it.
"Xi Xi, is that you?" A familiar voice sounded behind Lin Xi.
