Chapter 123 I went to Song Chen's room to take a shower
Bai Tiantian's words stumped Lin Xi. "I don't know what Brother Chen likes to eat. I only know that he likes to dip his dumplings in vinegar. Otherwise, he eats whatever I make."
"Huh? Then why is he so picky when I make him fried eggs and toast?" Bai Tiantian felt it was really unfair.
"You and Chen are making such a quick move," Lin Xi asked mysteriously, "You two haven't already... you know what, have you?"
“I would like to,” Bai Tiantian said without the slightest embarrassment, “but unfortunately he doesn’t take the initiative, and I can’t force myself on him.”
“Brother Chen is still engaged,” Lin Xi said anxiously for Bai Tiantian. “You can’t be with him like this without any clear understanding.”
Lin Xi approves of Bai Tiantian pursuing her own happiness, but doesn't want her friend to become a woman who can't be seen in the light of day.
"Don't worry," Bai Tiantian patted her chest, "I will marry into the Song family openly and honestly."
"That's good." Lin Xi could actually tell that Bai Tiantian came from a good family. She dressed and used very exquisite things. Maybe she could get the Song family to cancel the marriage. Aunt Xu is so kind, she definitely wouldn't break up the couple.
Lin Xi checked the time; after all this fuss, it was almost six in the afternoon, time to go make dinner.
Unsure if Song Xu and Song Chen would be back for dinner, she hesitated for a long time before finally sending a message to Song Xu to inquire.
Song Xu replied to the message immediately, saying that he was not sure what time he could go back, and if he cooked, he would leave some for them so that she and Bai Tiantian could eat first.
Lin Xi only replied with a "okay" and didn't ask anything else. Perhaps it's better not to know some things.
"Sweetie, what do you want to eat? I'll make it for you tonight," Lin Xi asked, putting down her phone.
Bai Tiantian didn't hold back at all, taking out her phone to search for "delicious home-style dishes," and found all sorts of food photos.
She was ordering food: "I want this braised pork with egg, and this spicy chicken wings, salt and pepper crispy shrimp, um... and something lighter, like this spicy and sour lemon chicken feet."
"Xixi, could you make more of these chicken feet? We can eat them while watching TV tonight, it'll be so much fun."
Lin Xi looked through the recipes for these dishes and had a good idea of what to do. "Okay, we might not have any chicken feet at home, so I'll order some takeout and have it delivered."
"I'll order, you go prepare the other ingredients." Bai Tiantian took on the task of buying chicken feet.
Bai Tiantian took out her phone and started typing a message. She stopped halfway through because she wanted to ask Lin Xi how much she wanted to buy. She turned around and saw that Lin Xi was busy. After thinking for a moment, she typed "ten catties of chicken feet".
Lin Xi patiently found the ingredients, cleaned them one by one, and then cut them into pieces.
Bai Tiantian walked over, rolled up her sleeves, and said, "Xixi, let me help you."
“Okay,” Lin Xi didn’t ask Bai Tiantian to do anything, and just had her follow the recipe and put all the ingredients for each dish together.
"Xi Xi, two lemons seem a bit few, do you have any more?" Bai Tiantian noticed that Lin Xi's lemon chicken feet ingredients seemed insufficient.
"Huh? How many chicken feet did you buy?" Lin Xi asked curiously. She had specially prepared extra ingredients, enough for five pounds of chicken feet.
Bai Tiantian held out both hands, "Ten pounds, is that enough?"
Lin Xi sighed, "That should be enough for us to set up a stall and sell."
Not wanting to spoil the fun, Lin Xi decided to cook all ten pounds of chicken feet and prepared the ingredients again.
Half an hour later, just as the braised pork was put into the pot, the doorbell rang.
Hearing the doorbell ring, Lin Xi's body trembled. Bai Tiantian remembered something, picked up her phone and saw an unread message, "It's to deliver chicken feet, I'll go get them."
Lin Xi breathed a sigh of relief; she was almost triggered by the doorbell ringing.
Before long, Bai Tiantian came in carrying a large bag of chicken feet with difficulty. "So ten pounds is this much? Xixi, I think I can pack some up and take some with me."
Lin Xi smiled and carried the chicken feet to the kitchen for her. "Of course, I can make them for you anytime you like them."
"Xi Xi, you're so sweet," Bai Tiantian hugged Lin Xi and acted coquettishly towards her, "If only I were a man, I could make Song Chen and Song Xu go to hell, I want to have you all to myself."
"Then let's forget about them. It's not impossible for the two of us to live together," Lin Xi joked.
"Maybe I can add one more person," Lin Xi thought to herself. "Why haven't I heard from Jiang Ran yet? It's about time she came out for some fresh air."
"Xi Xi, what are you thinking about?" Bai Tiantian waved her hand in front of Lin Xi.
"I was thinking about someone," Lin Xi said, snapping out of her reverie. "I'll introduce you two when I have the chance."
"Man or woman?" Bai Tiantian asked curiously. "Don't introduce me if I'm a man, I'm afraid Chenchen will get angry."
“Of course it’s a woman, my high school classmate. You’ll definitely like her,” Lin Xi explained.
Lin Xi felt it was all worth it to have met two good friends in this life, Jiang Ran and Bai Tiantian.
It was 10 p.m., and Song Xu and Song Chen still hadn't returned.
Bai Tiantian, holding a small bowl and munching on chicken feet, nestled on the sofa in Lin Xi's room, watching dramas on her tablet.
Lin Xi was memorizing vocabulary words on the side, but she couldn't concentrate. She gave up after memorizing a few pages. She slammed the dictionary shut, and a photo fell out of it.
She picked up the photo and looked at it silently. It was her only photo, a family portrait taken shortly after she was adopted by her grandmother.
After her brother went missing, she and her grandmother never took another photo together.
"Huh? Xixi, is this you when you were little?" Bai Tiantian appeared behind Lin Xi with a small basin at some point.
Lin Xi nodded. "I was already six years old at this time. Did I look very young?"
"Oh yeah, I thought he was three or four years old if you hadn't told me," Bai Tiantian said, looking at the boy in the photo. "Who is this handsome little guy?"
“It’s my brother,” Lin Xi said, touching the boy above. “He has been missing for twelve years. My grandmother and I have always believed that he is still alive, and I will definitely find him.”
"Oh, I see," Bai Tiantian said, feeling sorry for Lin Xi. "We'll definitely find him. He has such a good face; he must be a very lucky person."
Bai Tiantian stared at the boy in the photo for a long time, his features looking somewhat familiar.
Lin Xi tucked the photo back into the book. "I wonder if they'll be back tonight."
"Who cares about them?" Bai Tiantian finished eating a small bowl of chicken feet, took off her disposable gloves, patted her tummy, and said, "I'm so full today."
"Xixi, do you have any extra pajamas I can borrow for one night?"
“Yes,” Lin Xi said, pulling Bai Tiantian into the walk-in closet. There were many clothes inside, most of them new, which she hadn’t worn much. “These pajamas are all new, I haven’t touched them, you can pick whatever you like.”
Bai Tiantian rolled her eyes and picked out the sexiest black lace nightgown. "This is it."
She then picked up a pair of lace panties and asked, "Xixi, which is Song Chen's room? I want to take a shower in his room."
Lin Xi: ...
