Chapter 39 How did she end up at CEO Song's house?
"I..." Lin Xi clenched her fists, knowing that Song Xu was joking, but the joke was not funny at all.
She looked at Song Xu with a determined gaze, "Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river, I won't stay poor forever."
What Lin Xi really wanted to say was: maybe Song Xu will need her help someday.
Song Xu was moved by her resolute gaze, and he nodded. "You're right, I have high hopes for you."
She can endure hardships that ordinary people cannot, and with this kind of perseverance, she won't do too badly.
Lin Xi returned to her room and began to busy herself with her own things. Today, she wanted to list Shen Yan and Xiao Heng's second-hand luxury goods on the platform.
After a period of research, she found the most reliable second-hand platform. Although the fees charged were a bit higher, it was safe and there were no issues like items being swapped out.
The first thing needed for listing is a photo of the actual product. Photos are very important, but unfortunately her phone's camera resolution was too low, resulting in terrible photos. After excessive editing, the colors and textures differed too much from the real product, lacking any sense of authenticity.
After thinking for a while, Lin Xi decided to ask Song Xu for help.
As long as she can make money, she doesn't care about saving face. She can face picking up trash without batting an eye, so what's wrong with borrowing a camera?
Once she thought about it, she did it. Lin Xi walked to Song Xu's door and knocked.
"Come in!"
Upon hearing Song Xu's voice, Lin Xi pushed open the door and stood in the doorway. "Mr. Song, do you have a camera? I'd like to borrow it."
"What are you doing with the camera?" Song Xu asked curiously.
"I want to post some items on a second-hand platform, and I need photos of the actual items, but my phone isn't very good at taking pictures," Lin Xi explained.
Song Xu remembered that she was supposed to help Chen Yan and Xiao Heng sell their secondhand goods. "Did they send some things over?"
“Some were sent over the day they stayed for dinner,” Lin Xi replied.
Song Xu's eyes darkened. Those two brats came to find Lin Xi while he was away from home; they definitely didn't have good intentions. He looked up at Lin Xi and said, "Stay away from them in the future. They're not good people."
"Huh? Aren't they your good friends?" Lin Xi was a little confused. How could anyone say that her friends weren't good people?
Song Xu cleared his throat. "They're the best at sweet-talking girls, don't be fooled by them."
"No, I keep my personal and professional life separate." Lin Xi clearly distinguishes between family, love, friendship, and even purely platonic business relationships.
Song Xu got up and took out a DSLR camera and a laptop from the cabinet.
He handed the camera to Lin Xi first, then waved the laptop in his hand, "This laptop is one I discarded. Do you want to use it? It should be helpful for your studies."
"Can you really lend it to me?" Lin Xi's eyes lit up as she looked at the laptop in Song Xu's hand.
“Of course,” Song Xu placed the laptop in Lin Xi’s hands, “being my family’s nanny will come with some perks.”
"Thank you, Mr. Song." Lin Xi wanted to bow in thanks, but she was having some difficulty holding a camera in one hand and a laptop in the other.
Song Xu picked up the camera, opened the lens cap, and tried it out. "Do you know how to use it? I can teach you."
Lin Xi certainly wouldn't use it, especially not Song Xu's high-end gadget. She honestly said, "I only know how to use the camera on my phone."
Song Xu hasn't taken photos in a long time. This camera was something he bought on a whim, but he lost interest after using it twice.
"Go to your room, I'll teach you how to use it."
The two moved to Lin Xi's room.
There was a men's outfit on her bed, along with a few small decorations.
Song Xu recognized the clothes as Chen Yan's at a glance, and he really wanted to throw them away.
Reason prevailed over impulse, and he handed the camera to Lin Xi, saying, "You try it first."
Lin Xi aimed the camera at the clothes she wanted to photograph, but no matter how she moved it, she couldn't get it in focus. She turned to look at Song Xu, "Mr. Song, I can't do it right."
Song Xu stood behind Lin Xi, wrapped his arms around her, and whispered in her ear, "To move here, click here to zoom in or out. There are many other options on the interface..."
Hot breath hit Lin Xi's ears, and they quickly turned red, the color spreading outwards.
Song Xu was tall with long arms and legs. He wrapped his arms around her from behind but did not make any physical contact with her.
Even without physical contact, the heat emanating from each other's bodies is exchanged, making it even more invigorating than physical contact.
Lin Xi tried to focus her attention on the camera, ignoring the heat on her ears and back.
Whether from the heat or from exhaustion, a thin layer of sweat appeared on her forehead.
"Have you learned it?" After giving a brief explanation, Song Xu handed the camera over to Lin Xi.
Lin Xi licked her lips; her mouth was a little dry. "Almost there. I'll take a test shot myself."
She held her breath and followed Song Xu's instructions, adjusting the aperture step by step until she was satisfied, then pressed the shutter.
"Mr. Song, what do you think of the photos I took?" Lin Xi showed Song Xu the photos she had just taken.
“Not bad,” Song Xu liked dealing with smart people, so he didn’t have to repeat himself. “The lighting could be brightened a bit; it’s a little dim.”
Lin Xi nodded, "Then I'll take a few more pictures to try."
Song Xu stepped back, sat on the sofa, and watched Lin Xi take pictures.
Serious girls are really attractive. Song Xu sat on the sofa for half an hour without realizing it, until a series of urgent message notifications brought him back to his senses.
It was a message from Zhang Qing, saying he had urgent documents that needed his signature and was preparing to come find him.
Song Xu replied with a single word: "Okay".
Lin Xi had already filmed half of the project. She was becoming more and more skilled with the camera, and the photos she was taking were getting better and better.
Song Xu watched for a while longer, and two minutes later Zhang Qing sent another message saying that he had arrived at the door.
Without disturbing Lin Xi who was engrossed in her work, Song Xu got up and quietly left her room to open the door for Zhang Qing.
"President Song, these two documents need your signature." Zhang Qing handed the documents to Song Xu immediately.
"Come in, I need to look at the documents." Song Xu turned and walked to the living room, sat on the sofa, and took out the documents to examine them closely.
This wasn't Zhang Qing's first time here. He skillfully found slippers, changed into them, and sat opposite Song Xu.
After taking the photos, Lin Xi encountered a problem: how to transfer the photos from the camera.
"President Song..." She turned around and realized that no one was on the sofa. She didn't know when Song Xu had left.
She did some research and realized she needed a data cable, but she didn't have a suitable one, so she had to ask Song Xu for one.
Stepping out of the room, she saw the door to the opposite bedroom was open, and a head peeked in. "President Song?"
There was no response, so he probably wasn't in the room. Lin Xi heard a sound coming from the living room, so she took the camera and walked towards the living room. "President Song, does this camera have a data cable?"
Zhang Qing looked up and met Lin Xi's gaze. His eyes widened. What... how did she end up in President Song's house?
Was what they said while hugging in the police station true?
