Chapter 79 It Feels Like Meeting the Parents

"President Song, are you taking Miss Lin to a meeting?" Zhang Qing asked in surprise, thinking that this was inappropriate.

“Yes, you go too,” Song Xu picked up the laptop from the table and handed it to Zhang Qing, “Take it up for me.”

"Okay." Zhang Qing took the computer, secretly wiping away sweat. Thank goodness, he almost thought he was going to be replaced.

The three of them took the elevator to the large conference room on the 20th floor, where most of the company's senior executives had arrived.

After Song Xu and the other two sat down, only the two seats in the very middle were empty; they were reserved for President Song Qingshi and his assistant.

Lin Xi sat between Song Xu and Zhang Qing, feeling somewhat nervous. She whispered to Song Xu, "Mr. Song, are the seats here assigned?"

Will she take someone else's spot?

Song Xu glanced around at the people who had come to the meeting. One person was missing. He sneered, "No, whoever came first gets a seat."

Lin Xi was relieved. There were still empty chairs at the back of the conference room; Zhang Qing had just taken one from there to sit down.

President Song Qingshi walked in right on time. After he and his assistant sat down, they saw Song Xu and Lin Xi sitting directly opposite them.

He looked at Lin Xi with unfamiliarity and couldn't recall when Song Xu had ever had such a person by his side; she even looked quite young.

"Xiao Xu, who is the girl next to you?" Song Qingshi asked. This meeting was an internal meeting of the group company, and much of the content was confidential, so outsiders could not be allowed to attend.

"She's my new secretary, Xiaolin," Song Xu introduced briefly.

"Xiao Lin, he is my dad. You can call him Uncle Song or President Song."

Song Xu's introduction made Lin Xi extremely embarrassed. How could she call him Uncle Song at the company, since it wasn't like she was meeting his parents?

"President, my name is Lin Xi, and I'm the secretary that President Song just hired today," Lin Xi said as she stood up.

Lin Xi is poised and elegant, speaks clearly, and has a clear, gentle voice that is pleasant to listen to.

Song Qingshi nodded. "Sit down."

Since it was Song Xu who recruited them, there shouldn't be any problems. Song Qingshi was quite satisfied with his son's abilities.

Song Qingshi looked around the meeting room and asked his assistant, "Is everyone here? Let's begin the meeting."

The president's assistant whispered a reminder: "We're still missing Director Shu. Should we wait?"

As soon as the assistant finished speaking, the conference room door was pushed open, and Director Shu walked in with a beer belly, greeting him apologetically, "Sorry I'm late."

Song Qingshi looked displeased. "Please sit down. The meeting is about to begin."

Director Shu looked around and found there were no empty seats, including his usual spot...

He usually sits to Song Xu's right, but now there are two people sitting in the seats to Song Xu's right. One of them is Song Xu's assistant, and who is the other girl?

"I haven't seen her before," Director Shu said, walking over to Lin Xi and tapping on her desk. "Excuse me, this is my seat."

Lin Xi turned to look at him, then looked back at the table more closely, and replied, "There's no name written here."

Lin Xi didn't know who this man was, but Song Xu had said that there were no fixed seats at meetings, so this man was clearly picking on the weak.

She's not a company employee, and she's not afraid of being treated unfairly, so she won't tolerate such a snobbish person.

Director Shu, having been humiliated in front of so many people, frowned and said, "Which department are you from? I've never seen you before. Didn't your supervisor teach you how to do your job?"

Lin Xi's expression was calm, and she spoke without any emotion. "My elementary school teacher taught me that you should do things yourself. If there's no chair, you can get one yourself. Taking someone else's seat is not the mark of a good child."

"Ahem!" Some people in the conference room started coughing to cover up their barely suppressed laughter.

Song Xu covered the corners of his mouth with his hand. This stinky stone is quite good at talking. As long as you don't make him angry, he's actually quite nice to listen to.

Director Shu's face turned a deep purplish-red. The other party was a woman, and he couldn't lay a hand on her. "Who brought her? Whose person is she?"

Song Xu then spoke up, "The person sitting next to me is naturally my person. Does Director Shu have any objections?"

Director Shu's arrogance subsided by half. "So you're one of President Song's men. No wonder... You still need to teach your people a bit more."

"No wonder what?" Song Xu's eyes turned cold. "Is Director Shu dissatisfied with my subordinates, or with me personally?"

Song Xu had only been with the company for a year. He always handled things strictly by the book and didn't give anyone face, including the company's senior executives. Many people were not very satisfied with him because they felt embarrassed by him, and Director Shu was one of them.

Song Xu was fully aware of these matters. He knew he would take over the company sooner or later, and he would deal with these people sooner or later as well.

You can't rely on your age to act superior to him; he runs a company, not a charity.

Even his own father, President Song, didn't say anything, yet these old fogies still want to cause trouble. They've misjudged him.

Director Shu was not very satisfied with Song Xu, as he did not consider anything when doing things, which caused him a lot of trouble.

"Young Master Song is joking. How could I dare to be dissatisfied with you?" Director Shu snorted. "It's clearly you who look down on us old guys."

Lin Xi watched the commotion from the side, taking notes in her notebook with a pen. She wrote quickly in regular script, and her handwriting was quite beautiful.

Song Xu's face turned cold. "I always deal with things objectively, not personally. As long as you are upright and honest, I, Song Xu, also know a bit about etiquette."

"You..." Director Shu was so angry that his hands trembled. What did Song Xu mean by that? In front of everyone, was he saying that he had done something improper?

"Xiao Xu," Song Qingshi scolded Song Xu, "That's enough, the meeting is important, don't waste everyone's time."

Song Qingshi's assistant brought over a chair and placed it next to Song Qingshi. "Director Shu, please sit here."

"If there's a way out, take it," Director Shu snorted and walked over to sit down.

The meeting began, and the agenda included the group company's work priorities for the last quarter and some important decisions.

Lin Xi listened attentively and took careful notes. There was a lot of content she didn't understand, but that didn't stop her from writing it down.

Zhang Qing, who was standing next to him, was also taking notes. He typed quickly on the computer, much faster than usual, because he felt a sense of crisis.

Lin Xi was next to him, and the tip of her pen was almost blurry.

Song Xu leaned back in his chair, leisurely watching his two secretaries working hard beside him, feeling very gratified.

One needs money to motivate them, while the other needs some competitive pressure.

The meeting ended, and Lin Xi stretched her wrists. It had been a long time since she had written so many words, and she was a little tired.

Song Xu took her notebook, opened the first page, and saw the first entry Lin Xi had made:

[Director Shu: Narrow-minded, lacking in magnanimity, disobedient to President Song, and harboring disloyal intentions; he is not a threat.]
