Chapter 224 I've Avenged Xixi
Lu Yunzhou looked at Lu Zhentao in shock, "What did you say?"
“I know you’re trying to gain control of the company,” Lu Zhentao sighed. “Even if I’m not the best, I still know a bit about the company’s business, and I’ve also placed a few people in the company.”
"Don't be nervous. If you want to increase your shares, go ahead. All my shares will be given to you and Xixi. Xixi has had a tough time. Having shares is a kind of protection, so she won't be bullied by the Song family in the future."
“The Lu family’s company was founded by your mother, so it should rightfully belong to you. I’m getting old and my mind isn’t working as well as it used to, so I’ll just hand the whole company over to you now.”
Lu Yunzhou was stunned; he couldn't accept it for a moment.
Lu Zhentao didn't urge him, and closed his eyes to wait for him.
Jiang Nian was outside the door and couldn't hear what was being said inside. She could only see through the glass that the boss was talking to a handsome older man. The two seemed to be getting along quite well and didn't look like they were about to fight, so she probably didn't need to lift a finger.
Just then, Jiang Nian heard a car stop outside the courtyard. She craned her neck to look out and saw a tall, handsome man helping a middle-aged woman walk in.
"Who are you looking for?" Jiang Nian stepped forward to stop them.
Zhou Ruolan and Zhou Jingming both looked at the girl in front of them; neither of them recognized her.
Zhou Ruolan pointed inside, "I'm looking for those two. Little girl, I've never seen you before?"
They are not from this recuperation center.
Jiang Nian glanced at the two people; they didn't seem like bad people. The auntie even had a pleasant voice. "I'm a bodyguard the boss just hired. Do you know my boss?"
"Which one is your boss?" Zhou Ruolan could see the father and son sitting quietly together inside the room.
“The younger one,” Jiang Nian explained.
Zhou Ruolan said "Oh," and then added, "That's my son."
"Ah, so it's the boss..." Jiang Nian wanted to say "boss's wife," but then realized something was wrong. It was the boss's mother, not the boss's wife. "Your mother, please come in quickly."
A hint of a smile appeared in Zhou Ruolan's eyes. This girl was quite interesting; she wore her heart on her sleeve.
After Zhou Ruolan reached the door, she turned back to Zhou Jingming and said, "Jingming, go back to the car and wait for me."
Zhou Jingming nodded. With Lu Yunzhou inside, his aunt should be fine. "I'll stay in the car. Call me anytime if you need anything."
"Okay." Zhou Ruolan let out a long breath, pushed open the door, and went inside.
Her footsteps were light as she slowly approached the father and son. "Lu Zhentao, do you really want to see me?"
"Mom, what brings you here?" Lu Yunzhou was the first to react, and immediately stood up to offer the chair to Zhou Ruolan.
Zhou Ruolan was still a little weak, and she would get tired if she stood for too long, so she sat down without offering to others.
Lu Zhentao also sat up in surprise. He stared at Zhou Ruolan without blinking and said softly, "Ruolan, you've come."
Unlike the Zhou Ruolan I saw last time, today her eyes were bright and lively, and she was just as intellectual and elegant as she was eighteen years ago.
"Yunzhou, you go out first. I need to talk to him alone." Zhou Ruolan patted Lu Yunzhou's arm.
“Mom…” Lu Yunzhou frowned, he was worried.
“What are you afraid of? You can see everything through the glass window,” Zhou Ruolan looked around the room where she had lived for eighteen years. “The best thing about this place is that it’s bright and airy with plenty of sunlight. If it weren’t for this sunlight, I probably wouldn’t have been able to stand it for long.”
Lu Yunzhou gritted his teeth, feeling deeply guilty, "Mom, I'm sorry..."
“You’re not the one who should be apologizing,” Zhou Ruolan said with a faint smile. “Go ahead and wait for your mother outside. It’ll be quick.”
Lu Yunzhou glanced at Lu Zhentao, then turned and left the room, walking outside to stand with Jiang Nian, looking back inside.
The room fell silent. Lu Zhentao couldn't say a word when he saw Zhou Ruolan. He didn't know what to say, and anything he said seemed meaningless.
Zhou Ruolan looked at the man she once loved deeply and sneered, "Lu Zhentao, you suddenly came here, it's not because you miss me, is it?"
"Has that woman named Meng Xiuwan failed to cheer you up lately?"
"Ruolan..." What Lu Zhentao wanted most right now was for Zhou Ruolan to hit him and scold him, so that he could feel a little better. "Can you hit me hard?"
"Why would I hit you?" Zhou Ruolan snorted. "Would hitting you make you feel better? You're dreaming."
"The suffering I've endured over the past eighteen years can't be erased by a beating."
"And the suffering my daughter has endured over the past eighteen years cannot be compensated for by beating or scolding you."
"I will make you and Meng Xiuwan pay double, and that bastard who took my daughter's place, none of you will get away with this."
"I'm here today to tell you that I'm going to file for divorce. I own half of Lu's company, and I'll take it back. You'd better hold onto the rest. I'm telling you this now: I, Zhou Ruolan, will not let any of you get away with this."
“Ruolan,” Lu Zhentao stood up and walked closer to Zhou Ruolan, then knelt down at her feet with a thud, “I was wrong.”
Zhou Ruolan threw a tantrum, but before Lu Zhentao could offer any rebuttal, she was startled by his sudden outburst.
For the first time in his life, Lu Zhentao knelt down before his wife.
"Lu Zhentao, what are you up to?" Zhou Ruolan didn't even look at him. "Don't think that kneeling will make me go easy on you. It's impossible."
"Ruolan, I know I was wrong," Lu Zhentao said, bowing his head. "I don't ask for your forgiveness, I just hope you won't divorce me. I, Lu Zhentao, swore that I would only marry you in this life."
“You’ve made so many vows, but which one of them have you kept?” Zhou Ruolan glared at him angrily. “You’ve been keeping a mistress, conspired with that woman to switch my child, and even sold my child. Lu Zhentao, are you even human?”
“I didn’t sell her. Meng Xiuwan sold Xixi behind my back,” Lu Zhentao explained. “I have already avenged Xixi.”
"What revenge did you help her take?" Zhou Ruolan scoffed. "Did you sell Meng Xiuwan, or that bastard child?"
“It wasn’t sold,” Lu Zhentao said indifferently. “It was fed to the dogs.”
Zhou Ruolan's eyes widened. "What do you mean? What do you mean, 'fed to the dogs'? What dogs were you fed to?"
Lu Zhentao slowly raised his head. He had never told Zhou Ruolan about the things he had done before, for fear that she would be scared and angry.
Zhou Ruolan kept advising him to stop doing those illegal things and to do legitimate business.
But today he wanted to tell Zhou Ruolan this exciting news in person.
Lu Zhentao's lips curled up, his eyes turning fierce. "Meng Xiuwan and Lu Yunqi, I fed them both to the Tibetan mastiffs."
