Chapter 103 Wait for me to come back
That night, Fang Che took his medicine and went to bed early.
Li Hanzhou and Qi stood on the small balcony on the second floor.
It's called a balcony, but it's really just a cement platform with welded iron railings, barely big enough for two people.
The night was deep, and the coconut palms rustled in the wind.
In the distance, there are faint lights; that's downtown Bangkok.
"You're planning to go by yourself?" Qi suddenly spoke up.
It's not a question, it's a statement.
Li Hanzhou didn't deny it: "Yes."
"Sending them to their deaths?"
"Revenge." Li Hanzhou turned to look at him. "The blood feud of my parents must be avenged."
Qi paused for a moment, then said, "If you die, what will happen to him?"
Li Hanzhou's fingers tightened: "That's why I'm handing him over to you."
"On what grounds?"
"Because you like him." Li Hanzhou's voice was flat. "I can tell."
Qi's body stiffened.
He thought he had hidden it well, hidden in silence, hidden in restraint, hidden in every movement of looking away.
But Li Hanzhou saw through it.
"I……"
"Don't deny it." Li Hanzhou interrupted him. "When you like someone, you can't hide it in your eyes. The way you look at him is the same way I look at him."
Qi fell silent.
A night breeze blew by, carrying the damp scent of tropical plants.
After a long silence, Qi whispered, "Yes, I like him."
He admitted it so readily that even Li Hanzhou was taken aback.
“But I won’t take it,” Qi continued. “He’s yours. I just… want to protect him.”
Li Hanzhou looked at him and suddenly asked, "Why?"
"Because he likes you."
Li Hanzhou suddenly smiled.
His dark eyebrows and eyes were exceptionally clear in the night.
He reached out and placed his hand heavily on Seventh Brother's shoulder: "Seventh Brother."
Qi was stunned.
Li Hanzhou gave him a brotherly hug.
Qi's body stiffened for a moment, then slowly relaxed, and she gently hugged him back.
"Thanks." Li Hanzhou's voice was a little hoarse.
“So,” Qi stepped back and looked at Li Hanzhou, “I’ll go with you.”
“No,” Li Hanzhou refused. “Your injuries haven’t healed, and besides…”
“Besides, I can’t handle this by myself,” Qi chimed in. “Jiang Kun has at least ‘Three’ and ‘Four’ by his side. Of his top five assassins, besides me, there are four still alive. You can’t handle it alone.”
Li Hanzhou frowned.
Qi continued, "I know Jiang Kun's habits, I know how he sets traps, and I know where he's most likely to hide. Taking me with you will increase the success rate by 30%."
"But you will die."
"I should have died long ago." Qi smiled, a bitter smile in it. "Living this long is a bonus."
Li Hanzhou stared at him for a long time.
Finally, he nodded.
"Okay. But there's one condition."
"explain."
"Come back alive." Li Hanzhou said each word clearly, "A-Che needs you. I need you too."
Qi was stunned.
This was the first time someone had told him, "We need you."
It's not about needing his knife, his life, or his killing skills.
We need him.
Seven's eyes felt a little hot.
He turned his face away and nodded.
"Um."
At three o'clock in the morning, Li Hanzhou returned to his bedroom.
Fang Che was fast asleep, lying on his side with his hand on the pillow, as if waiting for something.
Li Hanzhou sat down by the bed and looked at him for a long time.
Then I got up and went to the kitchen to heat up a glass of milk, took out sleeping pills from the medicine cabinet, crushed them, and sprinkled them into the glass.
The powder dissolved quickly, leaving no trace.
He took the cup upstairs and gently shook Fang Che awake.
"Ache, drink some milk before you sleep."
Fang Che groggily opened his eyes, saw the cup, and instinctively frowned: "Brother Li... I'm not thirsty..."
"Listen to me, drink it." Li Hanzhou helped him sit up. "It's good for your back."
Fang Che took the cup, brought it to his lips, and suddenly stopped.
He raised his head and looked into Li Hanzhou's eyes.
There was something unfathomable in those usually calm eyes.
"Brother Li," Fang Che asked softly, "Are you... going to do something dangerous?"
Li Hanzhou's heart tightened.
His A-Che is too smart.
"No," he lied. "You weren't sleeping well, so I gave you some milk to help you sleep."
Fang Che stared at him for a long time.
Then put the cup down.
“I won’t drink,” he said. “Brother Li, look me in the eyes and say it again.”
Li Hanzhou opened his mouth, but the words stuck in his throat.
He can't fool Fang Che.
You can never be fooled.
Fang Che's eyes reddened: "You're going to find Jiang Kun, right? Tomorrow night?"
Li Hanzhou remained silent.
Silence is the answer.
Fang Che tried to get out of bed by lifting the covers, but Li Hanzhou held him down.
"A-Che, listen to me." Li Hanzhou's voice was hoarse. "This matter must be settled. I must collect my parents' debts myself."
"Then I'll go with you—"
“No.” Li Hanzhou interrupted him, his tone becoming more serious. “Your back injury hasn’t healed yet; going there will only distract me.”
Fang Che's tears fell: "Li Hanzhou, you've done this again! You always abandon me! In prison, and now! Am I really that useless?!"
“You’re not useless.” Li Hanzhou cupped his face and wiped away his tears with his thumb. “You’re the most important person to me. So you can’t be hurt.”
He picked up the milk and took a sip himself.
Then she lowered her head and kissed Fang Che.
The kiss was bitter, a mixture of the sweetness of milk, the astringency of medicine, and the saltiness of tears.
Fang Che was stunned and subconsciously tried to push him away, but Li Hanzhou held the back of his neck and kissed him even deeper.
The medicine was warm and viscous as it passed between the lips and teeth.
Fang Che opened his eyes wide and saw Li Hanzhou's eyelashes trembling slightly, so close to his face.
It didn't feel like a kiss, it felt like a farewell.
It's like using all your strength to imprint your soul into the other person's body.
When Li Hanzhou released him, Fang Che's lips were swollen and red, and his eyes were full of tears.
"You..." His voice trembled, "You drugged me..."
"I'm sorry." Li Hanzhou pressed his forehead against his, his breathing heavy. "A-Che, I'm sorry... but I have to go. When I come back, we'll get married, okay?"
Fang Che wanted to speak, but the effects of the medicine were too strong, and his eyelids were too heavy to lift.
He grabbed Li Hanzhou's collar, his fingers turning white from gripping it so tightly.
"Li Hanzhou..." he said finally, "If you dare to die... I'll haunt you even as a ghost..."
He then fell into a deep sleep.
Li Hanzhou held him for a long time before gently putting him back on the bed and covering him with the blanket.
He planted another kiss on Fang Che's lips.
"wait for me."
