Not afraid
Seeing Ye Jia's face turn pale and then red, Gu Anzhou asked with some concern, "What's wrong?"
"You...you didn't hear anything, did you?" Ye Jia was extremely embarrassed.
"What?" Gu Anzhou hadn't heard anything before, but when she said that, he tried hard to listen to what she was saying.
Ye Jia noticed that he was starting to strain his hearing, just like she had done earlier, and quickly reached out to cover both of his ears.
Gu Anzhou froze completely.
Her hands were wet and a little cold, which made Gu Anzhou's hair stand on end, but his alertness, which should have been heightened, became incredibly dull.
The only thing I could sense was Ye Jia's presence.
Ye Jia glanced at the dishes on the counter. They were only half-cooked; she couldn't just leave them uneaten. She withdrew her hand and turned on the range hood. Even though she hadn't started cooking yet, she wanted to use the sound to drown out the noise from the other side.
Gu Anzhou slowly realized what was happening: "What happened next door?"
"Nothing, nothing."
Gu Anzhou turned off the range hood and looked at Ye Jia, who was staring at him with wide eyes, and said, "I can't hear you anymore."
"If you can't hear me, you can't hear me! Hurry up and cook, then we'll eat and leave." Ye Jia said, and quickly turned the phone back on.
They sent him away.
Gu Anzhou didn't understand what was going on. They had been chatting peacefully just now, so why had she suddenly become so panicked?
After making two bowls of tomato and egg noodles, Gu Anzhou carried them out.
As soon as he stepped outside, he felt a vibration reaching his feet. He looked closely and realized it was coming from the wall behind the sofa.
He put down his bowl on the table in case there was any danger in the house, and went over to check. He heard sounds coming from next door: the bed was shaking and someone was panting.
"..."
Ye Jia cleaned up the pot and came out of the kitchen. Seeing Gu Anzhou's rather bad expression, she immediately realized that things were over.
The two of them moved from the sofa to the bed.
And behind her sofa was right opposite Chu Nian's bed.
Ye Jia was so embarrassed she almost died, but judging from Gu Anzhou's reaction, she felt that he seemed to feel more disgust than embarrassment.
"Come and eat your noodles," Ye Jia said, but instead of sitting down at the table, she picked up her phone to call Chu Nian. However, Chu Nian was too busy to answer.
Ye Jia could only bring the computer from the coffee table over, play some festive music, and say "Good Luck Comes."
Gu Anzhou sat down at the table and ate his noodles in silence.
The two ate very quickly. They should have been eating and chatting slowly, but it was as if something was urging them on.
Before a single song had even finished playing, good fortune was still bringing joy and love, and Gu Anzhou had already finished eating.
Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Ye Jia put down her chopsticks and said, "You should leave after you finish eating."
"Okay, I'll be going now." Gu Anzhou got up as if he couldn't wait any longer, took the bowls and chopsticks to the kitchen, and then opened the door and went out.
Ye Jia didn't know whether she breathed a sigh of relief or something else, but stared blankly at the noodles with only a few bites left.
The commotion next door was getting increasingly outrageous, and Ye Jia didn't know how she was going to face Chu Nian tomorrow.
She hadn't noticed any soundproofing issues in the room before, but now she's unsure if she can continue living there if they continue like this every night.
Gu Anzhou felt a little nauseous.
The last time I was forced to hear such noises was in the villa of a drug lord who has since been captured on the Southeast Asian border.
The man's name was Sangcha, which in the local language means bravery and victory. Everyone called him Master Cha.
The officer was extremely fond of him and valued his abilities, which is why he was willing to take him to the villa to share one of life's greatest pleasures.
But the main reason was that the constable was suspicious because Gu Anzhou never showed any interest in women.
In the enormous room, there were all sorts of bodies, grotesque and intertwined, each with an expression that showed their thoughts had been plundered, leaving only the most primal desires.
The constable invited Gu Anzhou to join him. There were men and women, tall and short, fat and thin, whatever he wanted.
Seeing this scene, Gu Anzhou's expression only revealed a hint of helplessness: "Officer, you know I have no interest in the smell of meat."
The officer revealed his tar-stained teeth and smiled gently: "I don't believe you have no desires, kid."
"Of course I do, but that's not what I'm addicted to. My greatest pleasure is seeing our goods safely delivered to our customers and watching your business expand day by day. That's what I truly enjoy."
The constable chuckled and said, "I know you have ambitions, but you also need to relax sometimes."
"To be honest..." Gu Anzhou whispered something in the officer's ear before he was finally able to leave.
The next day, the constable went to Gu Anzhou's room under the pretext of delivering something and took the opportunity to check it out. Sure enough, he found a large number of anime figurines and magazines, and only then did he truly believe him.
It's really strange. How could anyone have such a fetish? Even though the police officer looked at those things and they were so lewd they were practically oozing yellow, he didn't feel anything at all.
I never imagined that Gu Anzhou, who has a face that attracts beautiful women even without money or power, is actually a complete shut-in at heart.
But as long as Gu Anzhou has his own quirks, that's fine. The policeman doesn't believe that men aren't lustful, so he's much more at ease with him this way.
In fact, Gu Anzhou couldn't get aroused even when looking at these things. After he came to work here, he felt that his normal human reactions had been completely worn away.
On the contrary, in very rare cases, when one can enjoy the sunset without worry, one's body will strangely stir up some emotions.
During that period, Gu Anzhou often felt that he was becoming distorted.
And there will never be a day when things return to normal.
There was a knocking on the car window.
Gu Anzhou was startled and looked over; it was Ye Jia.
He unlocked the door, and Ye Jia opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat.
"Why did you come down?"
Ye Jia pointed to the balcony upstairs: "I've finished washing the dishes, and I saw your car is still here. Are you alright?"
It's hard to say if he's alright, but Gu Anzhou doesn't want to say he's bad either, because compared to his truly bad side, he's quite calm now.
After a moment of contemplation, he said, "I'm thinking about some things."
"Can I touch you?" Ye Jia asked.
Quite suddenly, Gu Anzhou trembled slightly and nodded.
Ye Jia gently stroked his head again, just like last time, but this time she didn't let go for a long time, and her fingers even went down to his ears.
Gu Anzhou turned his face away, and despite trying to restrain himself, he unconsciously pressed his hand closer to hers.
He has a normal reaction when facing someone he likes, which reassures him, but it is also mixed with a deep-seated panic. That impulse is too ugly, and he is afraid of hurting people.
Ye Jia's hands were incredibly warm. He gently rubbed Ye Jia's ears, and Ye Jia closed his eyes. The sound of his fingertips rubbing against his earlobe gradually made him relax.
Ye Jia felt that this was the first time she had seen Gu Anzhou so relaxed. With this contrast, she realized that he had actually been very tense all along, even when he was rubbing the kitten's head.
Just as Ye Jia was thinking this, she saw Gu Anzhou suddenly open his eyes.
Her hand stopped moving.
"Aren't you scared?" Gu Anzhou asked her.
"Scared?" Ye Jia looked at him. "Afraid of you?"
Gu Anzhou answered her with a somewhat vulnerable look in his eyes.
Ye Jia shook her head: "I'm not afraid, you're the one who's afraid."
Caught off guard by her words, Gu Anzhou lost his composure, his breathing momentarily stopped, then became heavy, until he felt the caresses on his ear continue.
"I'm not afraid, I like touching you like this." Although Ye Jia was a little embarrassed, she still said it directly and asked him, "How about you? If you don't like it, I won't touch you."
"I like."
His large hand covered Ye Jia's hand, and he repeated eagerly, "I like it."
Don't leave him unattended; once you've saved him, don't abandon him.
