typhoon

Gu Anzhou greeted the two women with "Welcome," but didn't look at them; his gaze was fixed on the bar counter in front of Ye Jia.

After hearing them order drinks, Gu Anzhou reached behind him and adjusted the straps that he had tied a little too tightly in his haste before mixing the drinks, loosening them slightly.

Seeing this, Chu Nian leaned over to Ye Jia and whispered in his ear, "Look at his taut pectoral muscles! OMG!"

"Keep your voice down!"

In fact, Chu Nian's voice wasn't loud. Even when she was excited, it was just a breathy sound. How loud could it be? And the music helped to cover it up.

But the content was too explicit, and Ye Jia was worried that someone would hear it and kick her out by Boss Gu.

Chu Nian felt her inspiration had been reignited, and she knew she had to go back and create something, otherwise she would be letting down the boss who had given her such a generous perk.

"Wait a minute." Chu Nian narrowed her eyes, realizing something was wrong, and leaned closer to Ye Jia's ear, "So you asked me what's so special about him, is it this? Jiajia, something's not right with you, how can you predict the future?"

"No..." Ye Jia said helplessly, "Don't overthink it."

Ye Jia was being watched closely by Chu Nian and didn't dare to look at Gu Anzhou for more than a couple of seconds, for fear that Chu Nian would use her terrifying ability to make connections to draw some terrible conclusions.

But she had a hard time keeping her eyes from glancing in that direction.

Just as I imagined, or rather, even more so than I imagined.

Once the apron was tied on, his shoulders looked even broader, while his waistline tucked in a bit, making the scene almost identical to one in a comic book.

Coincidentally, she had also seen him shirtless.

The wine was offered to Ye Jia when the images in her mind were at their worst.

Ye Jia looked at Gu Anzhou's well-defined fingers and inexplicably trembled.

"Nothing planned for tonight?"

He didn't leave without putting it down; he even struck up a conversation.

Ye Jia looked up at his face as he stared at her, but didn't dare to look closely. Her gaze swept down and she saw the full bulge under his apron, which made her feel even worse.

She nodded: "It's okay."

"Then help me try a few glasses of wine?" Gu Anzhou asked.

"OK."

"I can too!" Chu Nian said enthusiastically from the side.

Gu Anzhou said "okay" to her and then started mixing drinks.

There was a very obvious temperature difference. Chu Nian looked at the two of them and knew there was a problem, a huge problem.

Chu Nian's judgment was correct; the bar was indeed packed tonight, with everyone coming to get a closer look at Gu Anzhou, who seemed to have gained a more mature, married air.

But his indifferent expression still made people afraid to talk to him, and he was also busy mixing drinks for Ye Jia to try.

"I feel this is too sweet. I would prefer it if it were a bit more sour." Ye Jia gave his serious evaluation after tasting it, but it was just from his personal perspective. How to change it was up to him.

The same glass of wine, Chu Nian thought: "It's alright, not sweet."

Gu Anzhou adjusted the recipe and made another cup for Ye Jia. Seeing that she gave a satisfactory evaluation, he wrote it down in his notebook.

"It's over," Chu Nian thought to herself. "If this continues, the wines in the shop will probably only suit Ye Jia's taste from now on."

They arrived at seven o'clock and stayed until nine-thirty, tasting many different kinds of wine.

After they left, Gu Anzhou compiled all the recipes that Ye Jia thought were delicious, thinking about what new flavors these elements could be combined to create.

As it got later and later, the other guests gradually left as well.

Gu Anzhou was prepared to close the shop, but a few more people came to the door. He stood behind the bar and apologized: "Sorry, we're closed tonight."

Several girls left with regret, still watching him and whispering as they went.

Gu Anzhou didn't know if they were cursing him.

In the past, he would receive guests who arrived at 11 a.m. or even after 12 p.m., let alone when they arrived at 11 a.m.

He even likes guests who arrive late, because it means he can expend a little more energy and then get a slightly better night's sleep when he gets home.

But I'm really sorry, all I want to do right now is close the shop early and go back to sleep so I can get up tomorrow morning.

After Gu Anzhou finished cleaning the store, he realized that he was still wearing an apron.

He had forgotten about the apron and no longer felt like he couldn't breathe.

Does this count as...overcoming it?

As midnight approached, Gu Anzhou turned off all the lights on the first floor and went upstairs.

Bai Yu hummed a song as she pulled out the key and got out of the car, but when she looked in the direction of the bar, she couldn't hum anymore.

Oh no, why is it so dark? Is the door closed?

Bai Yu hurriedly ran over and knocked on the door twice, but there was no response from inside.

Why are you closing so early? It wasn't like this just a couple of days ago.

Bai Yu stood a little further away and looked upstairs. She saw a faint light and was relieved to confirm that Brother Zhou was still there. He hadn't moved away; he just probably didn't have many customers today, so he closed early.

Honestly, they didn't even wait for him, their regular customer.

Brother Zhou wouldn't deliberately avoid him just to avoid selling him alcohol, would he?

Bai Yu walked back; the wind was a bit strong, billowing his clothes. The weather forecast said the typhoon wouldn't arrive for another two days, so something felt off.

Gu Anzhou was woken up by his alarm clock early the next morning and saw that it was raining outside.

I wonder if Ye Jia will still go for a run when it rains.

But Gu Anzhou went out the door.

It was a day without sunrise. Ye Jia watched the sea view under the heavy rain from the balcony for a while before returning to her room.

Luckily, I bought a lot of groceries the past two days, so I don't need to buy any today.

Ye Jia lost her smartphone and didn't receive any weather notifications.

When she suddenly heard the wind howling wildly outside, she sensed something was wrong and checked to find out that a typhoon was coming.

The children in the mountains have never experienced a typhoon before, nor have they experienced one in Beicheng. They've always heard that typhoons are terrifying, and they don't know if anything might happen to them.

Ye Jia contacted the landlord to ask if there was anything she could do, but the landlord said no, given the current situation, just keeping the windows closed was enough.

She felt a little relieved, but the wind outside grew stronger and stronger, making the windows rattle.

It was my first time experiencing this, and it was quite scary.

While waiting for the dataset to be uploaded, Ye Jia stood by the window, looking at the surging waves and the sky, which was so dark it seemed like it would never light up again, and felt like the end of the world was coming.

After a while, the rain and wind stopped.

It was as if nothing had happened, yet the silence was eerily quiet.

Just then, there was a loud knock on Ye Jia's door.

At the door stood Chu Nian, looking disheveled, her hair and clothes mostly soaked, clutching her laptop and tablet: "Help me!"

Ye Jia quickly let her in: "What's wrong? Shouldn't you be sleeping?"

"I want to sleep, but my bedroom window is broken, and wind and rain are pouring in!" Chu Nian was furious. "That bastard landlord, I thought only the car had a problem, but now the house has a problem too!"

Ye Jia is doing alright.

But the typhoon only paused for a short while before it started raging even more violently, making the windows rattle even louder.

Chu Nian was already traumatized and dared not get close at all, pulling Ye Jia away to keep her at a distance.

"Waaah, I want to go home." Chu Nian was about to collapse. There was also a typhoon in her hometown, but it wasn't as severe, and her house was very sturdy, so the windows wouldn't be blown apart.

Ye Jia took a dry towel to wipe the water off her body and patted her back to comfort her: "It's okay, my landlord said it's not serious."

After some attempts to comfort her, it didn't seem to have much effect. Chu Nian was terrified and, looking withdrawn, started drawing on her tablet.

Ye Jia also remembered her work. Looking at her computer, she realized that her network had suddenly dropped when she had uploaded a certain amount of data. She reconnected and tried to upload again, but the signal was very weak.

It seems the typhoon caused some problems.

Ye Jia tried using Chu Nian's phone hotspot and successfully uploaded the data, but she found that the network was somewhat unstable.

"The internet here is generally not very good. I asked Xiaobai, and he said that it's pretty much the same on the island, except for a few places that are a bit better." Chu Nian's tone was gradually filled with resentment.

The internet was slow before, but it was okay; she could just bear with it. Reading comics was very laggy, but she could download them in advance.

But now that the window is broken, she's in a terrible mood and nothing seems right to her.

"I need to conduct real-time testing with the client this afternoon, and the network situation is definitely not good," Ye Jia said with some concern. "I don't know if it will be restored this afternoon."

"It would be good if the wind stopped by the afternoon!"

"Okay, okay, don't get agitated, it's alright." Ye Jia put down her computer and continued to comfort her. "After the typhoon passes, talk to your landlord. If that doesn't work, you can cancel the lease and find somewhere else to live."

Chu Nian cried, "But I don't want to leave you. Can I live with you?"

"Forehead……"

Ye Jia thought of the messy, hellish scene in Chu Nian's house and was reluctant to let her own clean and tidy home become like that.

Chu Nian was even more devastated: "You still don't want me!"

Ye Jia appeased Chu Nian with a delicious meal.

Fortunately, there was no water or power outage, so basic living conditions were not affected.

The fierce wind outside suddenly stopped, leaving only torrential rain. I wonder if this was yet another brief period of calm.

They waited patiently for a while, but the strong winds did not return, and the heavy rain turned into moderate rain.

Chu Nian should go back and clean up the mess at home, but she didn't want to go. Just thinking about it made her feel like her life was coming to an end.

The network connection hasn't been restored yet, so Ye Jia can't cancel the call. They're very anxious, and she doesn't know when it will be back online.

Ye Jia called the operator's customer service hotline and got through, but they only told her that "due to weather conditions, network outages have occurred in some areas and repairs are underway."

There was no answer given as to how long the repairs would take.

Then Ye Jia thought of Gu Anzhou's bar, which was a business location and might have a more stable internet connection.

"Do you know Mr. Gu's phone number?" Ye Jia asked.

Chu Nian pointed to herself: "You're asking me? How would I know if you don't even know? But I can contact Xiao Bai, he might know. You have no idea how affectionately he calls him 'Brother Zhou'."

But after Chu Nian sent a message to Bai Yu, she received a reply: [I don't know either, sis! Is something wrong?]

Chu Nian explained the situation, and Bai Yu said he could go downstairs to ask for help.

"Xiao Bai is so nice." Chu Nian was a little happier. "Look how much he cares about me, he's even willing to brave the rain to help. It's a pity I can't have him..."

"Stop, stop, stop!" Ye Jia cried out in fear.

They quickly replied: "[Brother Zhou said his shop's internet is okay, but he's not sure if it meets your standards. You can come over and try it.]"

Ye Jia set off with her laptop in hand.
