Chapter 127

"Two shops? Such a great place, and there are still vacant shops? Let's go check them out this afternoon!" Mei Liang said impatiently.

“Okay, let’s go after we finish eating.” Mei Si nodded and quickened her pace of eating.

With the shop's situation settled, the family members all smiled and were finally in the mood for a proper meal.

Mei Liang drove his car with his sister to Happiness Road, which his sister had mentioned.

Mei Liang stared blankly at the "shop" in front of him, which didn't even have a door, and wished he could hit himself with a hammer.

Mei Liang: I knew Sisi was unreliable all along, yet I still wasted my time following her around.

“This shop—no, this shopping mall—hasn’t been sold yet, so they can’t possibly rent it to me.” Mei Liang shook his head and turned to get into his car.

“It’s sold out! You can open a barbecue skewer shop here.” Mei Si tilted her head and looked at Mei Liang, not understanding why he would leave after just one glance.

Mei Si: Could it be that you didn't like it?

“Even if I could rent it, this place is too big for me. I just want to run a barbecue restaurant, and this place… is almost as big as the restaurants back home.” Mei Liang shook his head, took out his keys, and opened the car door.

"Beep beep beep..." A van suddenly stopped behind Mei Liang's car.

"Mei Liang! You're here looking for a shop too?" The driver's side window rolled down, and the man inside leaned out and asked.

“Brother Jie? Brother Wang is here too. You guys came looking for a shop too? How did it go? Did you find one?” Mei Liang turned around and saw that it was his neighbor who also ran a shop next to No. 2 Middle School.

"Hey! Where could we possibly find one? It's just the start of the school year, there's no vacant shop here. Damn it, these landlords are really ripping us off. I asked around, and they already knew about the demolition before summer vacation. They didn't tell us because they were afraid we'd move out and they'd lose three months' worth of earnings," Jie said angrily.

"Forget it, it's already this late, let's hurry up and find a place!" Brother Wang frowned and advised.

"This place is nice, but it's a pity it hasn't been sold yet. If we rent it here, we can earn twice as much as we would at No. 2 Middle School."

Brother Wang looked at the shopping mall behind Mei Liang, which didn't even have a door, and said.

“Even if this place were sold, we couldn’t afford to rent it. It’s too big. We’re just a small business. If we rented it here, we might only make enough to cover the rent for a year,” Mei Liang said, shaking his head.

"Are you kidding me? It's not like you have to rent it alone, we can rent it together!" If Brother Jie wasn't sitting in the car, he would have wanted to give Mei Liang a good whack on the head. This kid is just too dense.

"Rent together? Yeah! How come I didn't think of that? How stupid of me!" Mei Liang patted his forehead, realizing he really was too stupid.

"It's enough that you know you're not smart! Okay, I'm not talking to you anymore. We still have to look around somewhere else, so I'm leaving now."

Jie waved to Mei Liang, then looked down and prepared to roll up the car window to continue looking for empty shops elsewhere.

"Hey? Brother Jie, Brother Wang, don't go yet, this place is available for rent!" Mei Liang said, reaching out to press down on the car window that was about to close.

"It can be rented? This place doesn't even have doors or windows installed, how do you know it can be rented?" Brother Jie stopped what he was doing and asked, puzzled.

"It was my sister, she said it." Mei Liang regretted saying it as soon as he finished speaking. His sister was unreliable, and it was very likely that they wouldn't be able to rent the house. Why did he have to say something like that?

"Why don't we look for another place? There's nothing here, so even if we rent it, we can't open for business right now." Mei Liang released his hand from the car window, took two steps back, and gestured for the two to leave.

"What's wrong with you today, kid? With such a good spot, who would go looking for it elsewhere? That would be stupid," Brother Jie said, opening the car door and getting out.

"Is your sister the one in the car?" Brother Wang reached out to help Brother Jie turn off the car, got out, and headed straight for Mei Liang's car.

"No, Brother Wang..." Mei Liang tried to call out to Brother Wang, but Brother Wang had already walked quickly to the passenger door where Mei Si was sitting.

“Brother Jie, my sister is really unreliable. You can’t believe anything she says,” Mei Liang said, turning to Brother Jie who hadn’t walked over yet.

"Believe it or not, just ask around." Brother Jie didn't even glance at Mei Liang, and walked straight around the car, intending to hear what Brother Wang and Mei Liang's sister had to say.

Seeing that he couldn't stop the two, Mei Liang sighed helplessly and walked over as well.

"Knock knock knock..." Brother Wang knocked on the passenger window, signaling Mei Si to roll down the window.

Mei Si glanced back and saw Mei Liang still talking to someone in the back, so she rolled down the car window to see what this person was up to.

"Little Mei's little sister! Cough! I'll just call you little sister! My surname is Wang, you can just call me Brother Wang! I'm here to ask you, is this mall really sold?" Brother Wang only realized when he was actually face to face with Mei Si that he shouldn't have been so rash as to come to find Mei Liang's sister.

"Yes, it really sold." Mei Si nodded, not understanding what Brother Wang meant.

Brother Wang's face lit up with joy. It's sold! That means there's hope of renting it out. I just don't know where the owner is now.

"Little sister, do you know the owner of this house? Do you know his phone number? Or his address would be fine too!" Brother Jie asked anxiously after overhearing their conversation.

"What do you want with her?" Mei Si asked, glancing at Mei Liang, who had followed behind Jie Ge.

Upon hearing Mei Si's words, the three of them knew that Mei Si knew the homeowner.

"Sisi, can you take us to him now? We're planning to talk to him about renting a place," Mei Liang said, stepping forward.

"It's available for rent, no need to haggle."

"You silly girl, the house isn't yours, how can you make the decision? You should take us to find the owner!"

“I just…” Mei Si originally wanted to say directly that she was the homeowner, but she hadn’t told her family about this. Now that there were outsiders present, it seemed inappropriate to say it directly. It seemed that she should tell her family about this first.

“You know the homeowner, I can make the decision,” Mei thought for a moment and then said.

"I know him too? Who is he?" Mei Liang began to recall the wealthy people he knew, but he couldn't think of anyone rich enough to buy such a large shop.
