Grandma Mei took Yesi to see a doctor, who confirmed that Yesi had only caught a cold. Grandma Mei was completely relieved, got the medicine prescribed by the doctor, and took Yesi home with peace of mind.
When Mei's parents returned home that evening, they discovered that their daughter had actually put on her clothes.
"It's like the sun has risen in the west today! My daughter actually put on her clothes!" Mr. Mei exclaimed in surprise.
"It's because he caught a cold this afternoon. His nose is stuffy, and he doesn't know how to breathe through his mouth. His little face turned blue from holding his breath... He just got back not long ago."
Grandma Mei told her parents about the terrifying incident that afternoon. After hearing it, they were both still shaken and quickly hugged the coconut shreds tightly, showering them with affection.
That evening, fearing that her daughter's nose would become congested again, Mei's mother patiently taught her how to breathe through her mouth.
"Can she learn this?" Mr. Mei asked worriedly, looking at his daughter who was imitating Mrs. Mei's movements.
"I hope she can learn it. Sigh! Sisi is too young and can't speak clearly yet!" Mei's mother was also worried that her daughter's nose might get stuffy again after she fell asleep at night.
"How about we take turns keeping watch tonight?"
Mei's father felt more at ease having someone watch over them at night.
"I'll see. Aren't your superiors coming to inspect our work tomorrow? You can't fall asleep. I'm not going to work tomorrow; I'll just ask for leave in the morning."
Mei's mother didn't want Mei's father to stay up late. Tomorrow was such an important occasion, and Mei's father had to perform well, so he couldn't doze off.
"Okay, I'll ask for leave for you tomorrow, so you won't have to make another trip."
When Mei's mother was giving her daughter her medicine that evening, she thought she would have to coax her daughter, but to her surprise, her daughter wanted more after finishing the medicine.
"Silly child, that's medicine, not something to eat. You can't take too much of it." Mei's mother raised her hand holding the medicine, preventing her daughter from snatching the pills from her arms.
After Yesi fell asleep at night, Mei's mother sat on the kang (a heated brick bed) watching over her. Whenever Yesi moved, she would quickly go over to check on her.
When she noticed her daughter's nose was dry, fearing it would get stuffy again, Mei's mother would use a damp handkerchief to gently wipe away the dried snot.
Coconut Silk could feel that beasts had been taking care of her all night. Whenever her nose felt uncomfortable, something wet would immediately wipe it, and she would feel better in no time.
The next morning, when Coconut woke up, she saw her mother Mei's red eyes and for the first time felt that this adult beast was very good.
Suddenly, Ye Si didn't want to acknowledge Old Wang next door anymore. This family was great, and Ye Si didn't want to switch back with Old Wang's cub.
After getting sick once, Ye Si became much more obedient. No matter how much "skin" was given to her, Ye Si would obediently accept it.
Coconut started to fear going outside. She was afraid to go out now, fearing that she would get that breathing problem again.
It wasn't until it snowed outside that Ye Si, seeing the white expanse outside, felt a renewed desire to go out.
It doesn't snow on Buyao Star. Yesi looked at the white snow outside and really wanted to touch it and feel it.
"Sisi, look, it's snowing. Do you want to go out and play?" Grandma Mei said, pointing to the snowflakes outside the window.
Coconut Silk, through a combination of guesswork and deduction, roughly understood that Grandma Mei wanted her to go out, so she quickly shook her head and left the window.
"Oh dear! What are we going to do with this child? It's been two months and she still refuses to go out. What are we going to do during the New Year?" Grandma Mei sighed as she looked at her granddaughter.
"Children forget things easily. If she sees something fun outside, she won't be afraid anymore. Look, as soon as it snowed today, she started to get curious," Grandma Wang comforted her.
While her grandson, Gousheng, was taking a nap, Grandma Wang came over to chat with Grandma Mei for a while. At this time of year, she had nothing to do all day and felt restless staying at home.
"As soon as I brought up the matter, she quickly shook her head, probably still afraid." Grandma Mei shook her head, thinking that her granddaughter wouldn't be able to go to her maternal grandparents' house for the Chinese New Year this year.
"The snow isn't heavy yet. Wait a few days until it snows more, then have your eldest grandson build a few snowmen in the yard. I guarantee she'll want to go outside." Grandma Wang thought that children like novel things, and seeing snowmen would probably make Mei want to go outside.
"Will it work?" Grandma Mei didn't think there was anything special about the snowman.
"We'll find out if it works or not by trying. She's so young, she doesn't even know what snow is, how could she have seen a snowman? Kids love strange and unusual things."
"Then I'll have my eldest grandson try it in a few days." Grandma Mei thought it made sense; it was worth a try.
