Chapter 128

The shop owners were all very easy to talk to. After all, at this time, it was impossible to find such a good location. Everyone agreed to sign a one-year lease, but they also had a condition: the rent could not be increased within two years.

Mei Liang followed Mei Si to the building materials market for several days, bought all the necessary materials, and found workers. Mei Liang's task was basically completed.

The remaining work was simply watching the workers go about their tasks each day, which suited Mei Si, a man with nothing better to do.

In order to open for business as soon as possible, Mei Si hired a lot of workers, who worked overtime to finish the work, and finally completed it after half a month.

The anxious shop owners started moving their belongings inside that very night.

The next morning, everyone set off a string of firecrackers at the door, and that marked the start of the business.

On the first day of business, everyone in the Mei family except for Mei Jian, who had to go to school, came. They all wanted to see how business was going and whether it would be good or bad, so they could decide whether the upstairs apartment would be easy to rent out in the future.

The shop owners were quite confident, as the location was prominent and students from both schools could see it as soon as they exited the school gates, guaranteeing a thriving business.

As soon as the school bell rang at noon, Mei's parents anxiously peered towards the gate, hoping that students would come.

Grandma Mei rushed to the front door and looked across the street. Qian Tu thought it was bad to block the doorway, as the crowd might knock Grandma Mei over. He suggested that Grandma Mei go outside to check.

Mei Sigang followed Grandma Mei and her sister-in-law out the door, and the army of students across the street walked out of the school gate and began to turn.

"Hey? Why did they turn this way? No! I have to go call them." Grandma Mei was anxious. Why weren't these students coming this way?

"Grandma, don't worry, look! They've stopped." Qian Tu held onto Grandma Mei's arm, preventing her from going over, and pointed to the stopped group of students.

Grandma Mei took a closer look and saw that the students had indeed stopped and were looking in their direction!

"Buyao Food Street? Is it open yet?"

"It must have started. I heard them setting off firecrackers during my first break."

"Great! We won't have to walk ten minutes to get a meal anymore."

The students started moving over here, and Grandma Mei was overjoyed.

"They're coming! They're coming!"

Mei Si hadn't seen Ce Lou for a long time. With the opening of the food street, there was nothing left for her to do, so Mei Si finally had time to go find Ce Lou.

In the afternoon, after returning home with her sister-in-law and Grandma Mei, Mei Si ran off to the Wang family's house.

Mei Si remembered Wang Ce Lou's class schedule; he didn't have any classes this afternoon, so he should be at home at this time.

But when Mei Si arrived at the Wang family's house, she found it locked.

Mei Si: Ce Lou doesn't usually like to go out, what has he been up to?

Mei Si waited for a while, but seeing that Wang Ce Lou hadn't returned yet, she had no choice but to go home first, planning to come over later when Wang's parents got off work.

In the evening, Mei Si hurriedly ran to the Wang family's house after dinner, afraid that if she was too late, she would miss Wang Ce Lou again.

"Sisi's here? When is your brother's shop opening?" Wang Ma's furrowed brows finally relaxed when she saw Mei Si.

"Auntie! Uncle! My brother's shop is opening today."

"Opening today? Why didn't you notify us? I already told your mom to come and let us know before the opening."

"I've been busy these past few days, my mom might have forgotten. Auntie, where's the leak?" Mei Si asked, seeing that only Wang's parents were home. She wondered why Wang Ce Lou hadn't returned yet.

"They should be back soon," Wang Ma said, glancing at the time.

Mei Si sat for a while longer before Wang Ce Lou pushed his bicycle into the courtyard.

"Lou Lou, have you found it yet?" Wang Ma got up and poured some hot water into the basin for her son to wash his face.

“No,” Wang Celou said, frowning.

"Sigh! Let's take our time looking. As long as we can sell them before April next year, that'll be fine." Wang Ma sighed. She really couldn't be bothered to stay angry with Grandma Yu.
