Chapter 102

“Meisi participated in the competition and won first place, so she received a prize.” Wang Celou felt that it was best for Meisi not to reveal how much prize money she won. If the amount was revealed, the houses would no longer be able to be kept secret.

"Oh! I see!" The Mei family nodded, indicating that they understood.

None of them asked how much the bonus was for Mays. They assumed that since Mays had bought a house, there probably wasn't much of the bonus left.

After the Mei family members settled into their rooms and took their luggage, they went back to their rooms to rest. They had already arranged with Wang's father to go over for lunch later.

When Wang's father and Wang Celou returned home, Wang's mother was also very surprised that Mei Si could accomplish such a big thing.

"Sisi has really grown up; she can even buy her own house now!"

"Yes! In the blink of an eye, Sisi has grown up. In another two years, she'll be getting married." Mr. Wang nodded, marveling at how fast time flies.

"Lou Lou, Si Si is so capable, why don't you marry her?" Wang Ma thought of the recent news that Mei Si was going to marry her son, and suddenly felt that having a daughter-in-law as innocent as Mei Si would be quite nice.

"Mom! What are you saying? You can't joke about something like this. I'm going back to my room." Wang Ce Lou didn't like his mother's joke. He had practically watched Mei Si grow up; Mei Si was more like his daughter. How could he marry her?

"Oh! Is this child shy?" Wang Ma looked at the closed door with amusement, thinking that her son must have feelings for Mei Si.

"They're both still young, and nobody can predict what will happen in the future. Let's wait until they're older!" Mr. Wang felt that the two children were too young and their character was not yet established, so this matter couldn't be decided so early.

"That's true, let's talk about it in a couple of years." Aunt Wang nodded in agreement.

Around noon, before Wang Celou could go to pick them up, the Mei family arrived ahead of time.

"Aunt Mei, why did you come so early? You've been on the train all night, you should get some more sleep." Wang Ma helped Grandma Mei into the house and sat her down, pushing the fruits and vegetables to Grandma Mei's side as she spoke.

"We slept in the car last night, so we're not sleepy! We don't have anything to do at home anyway, so we thought we'd come over and help you out!"

"I've already chopped the vegetables, no need to help." Wang Ma stood up and walked towards the door. "Since you're here, I'll start cooking now. You two sit here and chat for a while, the food will be ready soon!"

“How can one person manage to cook for so many people? Come on, I’ll help you!” Aunt Mei stepped forward, took Aunt Wang’s arm, and followed her to the kitchen.

"Culture, Sisi bought a house here. What were your family's thoughts on this?" Wang's father asked Mei's father.

“I just talked to my wife about this. We both work back home, so we definitely can’t come and live here. I’m thinking it’s better to keep this house for Sisi to live in after she gets married…” Mei’s father really likes the house that Mei Si bought, but he and his wife still have jobs, and they can’t just quit their jobs and move to Kyoto.

"I'll stay here!" Grandma Mei suddenly interrupted Dad Mei.

"Mom, how can I feel at ease if you come to live here? Sisi usually has to train and doesn't come back often. You're already so old, and you don't have anyone by your side..." Dad Mei looked at Grandma Mei disapprovingly, not understanding why Grandma Mei suddenly wanted to stay in Kyoto.

“I can come and take care of Grandma,” Mei Liang interjected.

"You? You're still eating your grandma's cooking?"

Mei's father didn't believe a single word Mei Liang said.

“I can come too! I can go to school here!” Mei Jian raised his hand and said loudly.

"Oh ho! You two brothers have already discussed this?" Mei's father looked his two sons up and down, thinking that they might have just discussed it.

"Dad, I'm about to graduate! I'm thinking of coming here to do some business..." Mei Liang didn't want to go to work in a company; he wanted to start his own business and make a lot of money.

Mei Liang had this idea for a while now. He was Mei Si's younger brother. He went with Xu Liang to look at cars when Xu Liang bought one. Xu Liang was a few years younger than him, but Xu Liang was already driving a car.

"You go to work right now! It's the post office! Such a good job, everyone wants it but no one wants it!" Mr. Mei waved his hand, interrupting his son.

"Dad! What era are we living in? How much money can you make working a regular job? Look at everyone in business these days, aren't they all owning houses and cars?"

“Who bought a house and a car? Doesn’t that mean the Liu family’s small shop went out of business?” Mei’s father said, glaring at Mei Liang.

"That's because Uncle Liu always gives people credit, that makes a difference!"

"How is it different? Isn't that a business transaction? It's normal to buy and sell on credit. If you don't buy on credit, there are plenty of people who are willing to buy on credit!"

"What's wrong with you? Why won't you let Liangliang speak?" Grandma Mei took a piece of candy and threw it directly at Dad Mei's head.
