That year, during the Spring Festival, the Mei family of five went directly to the Hao family to celebrate the New Year. The family stayed at the Hao family's house until the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, and then took Mei Jian home with them.
Mei Jian hadn't spent a year with his mother and the others, and he no longer remembered the three adults in the Mei family. When he came back, he wasn't close to any of them, and only chased after Mei Si.
During the winter break, he followed Mei Si wherever she went. Fortunately, Mei Si didn't go out much, so Mei's mother and grandmother felt at ease letting Mei Jian stay at home with her.
Grandma Mei originally wanted to teach Mei Si how to cook so that the three siblings wouldn't go hungry after they went to work, but the alien Mei Si didn't seem to have mastered the skill of cooking.
Mei Si almost set the kitchen on fire while trying to light a fire. In the end, Mei Liang learned to cook, and could make steamed egg custard and scrambled eggs.
Mei Si started school, and Mei Jian was sent to daycare by his mother. Mei's mother was quite worried about her youngest son; he wasn't as adventurous as his daughter and would probably cry all day at daycare.
Mei's mother clearly didn't understand her son. When Mei Jian went to the nursery, he not only didn't cry, but also quickly became friends with the older girls in his class.
When Mei's mother went to pick him up that evening, two little girls were crying and begging to go home with Mei Jian.
Mei's mother: ...
Mei Jian thrived at the daycare, where he sat with pretty young ladies every day, and they would fulfill any wish he had.
When Mei's mother went to pick up Mei Jian that day, she was invited to the office by the nursery school aunt.
"Little sister, did our Mei Jian get into a fight?" With two kids in the family who are very strong in combat, Mei's mother subconsciously felt that her younger son would also be a warmonger.
"No, your son didn't fight." Aunt Chen hesitated, unsure how to explain to Aunt Mei.
"Hey sis, what's up?"
"Mei Jian is very well-behaved, it's just... he's especially popular with young girls. Recently... several young girls have been trying to sit with him..."
Aunt Chen was very troubled by this. She didn't understand what was wrong with kids these days. Why couldn't they just play together?
"Oh, what's wrong? Did you have a fight?"
Mei's mother felt that Aunt Chen's speech was hesitant and mumbled, and she was getting anxious while waiting.
"A fight has broken out."
"Why fight? Can't we all just sit together?"
"...It's because there wasn't enough room to sit down, otherwise they wouldn't have started fighting."
"Huh? How many people are there exactly?" Not enough seats? What does that even mean?
"Seven."
"Yes, there's really not enough room," Aunt Mei nodded, speaking in a dry tone.
Mei's mom: This kid is amazing!
"What do you mean by telling me this? Do you want my Meijian to stop playing with them?"
"No, it's just that they can't keep fighting like this. I was thinking, could Mei Jian talk to them and get them to coexist peacefully?"
"Why don't you just talk to Mei Jian directly?" Mei's mother was a little confused. Aunt Chen could just talk to Mei Jian about this, why did she have to say it?
"...Because I can't talk to Mei Jian alone. Mei Jian is in the nursery, and she even goes to the toilet with them. If I call Mei Jian alone, they will follow her."
Aunt Chen tried to talk to Mei Jian alone, but the girls followed her, saying they were afraid Mei Jian would be bullied.
"..."
Mei's mother: My son is too popular with young girls, it seems like this is a problem!
When they got home in the evening, after dinner, Mei's mother started talking to Mei Jian.
"Jianjian, I heard you have seven good friends at the daycare?"
"Not just good friends, but seven people." Mei Jian puffed out his chest, a hint of smug pride in his voice.
"..."
"Slap!" Mei's father slapped Mei Jian on the head.
"How old are you? Where did you get a boyfriend? Who taught you that?" Mei's father looked at Mei Liang suspiciously, thinking that his youngest son might have learned those words from Mei Liang.
"Dad, what are you looking at me for? I didn't teach him that." Mei Liang quickly protested his innocence when he noticed his father's strange look.
“They’re my girlfriends. I kiss them every day,” Mei Jian said proudly, raising his chin.
"What?" Mei's father stared at Mei Jian with wide eyes, thinking he had misheard.
Mei Liang looked Mei Jian up and down as if he were seeing him for the first time. Mei Liang was surprised that his younger brother could have two women on his left and right at such a young age. Amazing!
"You little brat, how old are you? As a man, you should be faithful..."
Mr. Mei frowned, intending to give his son a good talking-to.
"Who is Zhuanyi? I don't have one in my class. Is she pretty?" Seeing that Mei's father was emphasizing Zhuanyi, Mei Jian decided to give him face and meet this Zhuanyi. If she was pretty, he would agree to let her join.
“Being devoted isn’t for girls! It’s…” Looking at Mei Jian’s innocent little eyes, Mei’s father didn’t know how to explain it for a moment.
"Is that a boy? Is he as good-looking as me? If he's better looking than me, then I'll agree to let him be my boyfriend." Mei Jian felt he was being very generous; if it weren't for his father's recommendation, he wouldn't have planned to find a boyfriend.
"...He's not as good-looking as you."
Mei's Dad: Hmm? Did we go off on a tangent? When did I ever think about introducing my son to a guy?
"Pfft! Jianjian, do your girlfriends always fight?" Mei's mother turned her son, who was facing away from her, around and looked him straight in the eye.
"Sigh! There's nothing I can do. They always want to sit next to me, but there can only be two people sitting next to me. Having too many partners is really a headache." Mei Jian shook his head, also feeling distressed.
"Pfft hahaha...pfft..." Mei Liang was about to die laughing. Afraid that his laughter would disturb Mei's mother and Mei Jian's conversation, he quickly covered his mouth as fast as he could.
"Have you thought about how to stop them from fighting?" Mei's mother glared at Mei Liang and continued to guide Mei Jian.
