Chapter 27 Buzzing (Catching Bugs)

Coconut turned to look at the two of them, and couldn't resist climbing onto the kang (a heated brick bed) to wake them up.

Coconut shreds landed on Grandpa Hao's stomach with a thud, causing Grandpa Hao to gasp for breath and almost scream, but he managed to hold it in in time.

Grandma Hao squinted at it and decided that lying flat wouldn't work. She didn't have Grandpa Hao's patience, so she quickly pretended to turn over and ended up lying on her side.

Seeing that Grandpa Hao didn't react even when she sat on his stomach, Ye Si couldn't help but reach out and tug at his beard.

Grandpa Hao gritted his teeth, his face turning red, but he didn't utter a sound.

When Ye Si couldn't wake Grandpa Hao, she started poking Grandma Hao. Ye Si used her little hands to try and break Grandma Hao's ribs. Grandma Hao didn't have Grandpa Hao's patience, and she burst out laughing as Ye Si tormented her.

"Hahaha……"

"What is this?" Ye Si asked quickly when she saw that Grandma Hao had opened her eyes.

"……window!"

Grandma and Grandpa Hao endured it for a few days, but then felt that this couldn't go on. This kind of retirement life, where they weren't even allowed to take a nap, was too cruel!

Taking advantage of their granddaughter's inattention, the two quietly left the main house, slipped into the small room, and closed the door. No matter how much their granddaughter called for them, they pretended not to hear.

"How about we send them to the second son's house for a few days?" Grandpa Hao felt that with so many sons, it was time for them to show some filial piety.

“The second son’s family all have to work or go to school during the day, so who would take care of the child?” Grandma Hao shook her head, disagreeing with sending the child to the second son’s family.

"The third family is suitable. Little Fatty is at home every day anyway! It's the same whether the in-laws visit one or two." Grandpa Hao thought the third family was suitable.

"That's not a good idea, letting the in-laws take care of the child..." Grandma Hao was tempted, but she also felt that it was not very fair to do so.

“We’re not leaving the kids with them all the time. We’ll just help take care of them for a couple of days so we can rest. We’ll bring them back in a couple of days.”

“Okay, let’s do it this way. But how do we tell our in-laws? We can’t exactly say that we left the child at their house because we needed to take a nap, can we?”

"Let's say we're going to visit the fourth brother's family. His wife is currently pregnant, and it's inconvenient for her to bring such a small child along," Grandpa Hao slapped his thigh, having come up with a great idea.

"Yes, yes, that's settled then! Let's send it over today, and then we'll go stay at Lao Si's house for a few days." Grandma Hao had always wanted to visit her fourth daughter-in-law, but Grandpa Hao had always refused. Unexpectedly, Grandpa Hao was quite agreeable this time. It seems that Mei Si is quite useful after all.

"It's alright to visit Lao Si's house, but we don't need to stay. Let's go now and come back this afternoon." Grandpa Hao didn't plan to stay at Lao Si's house. Lao Si's wife was from a big city, and their house was very clean. Grandpa Hao felt uncomfortable sitting there for even a short while. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to sleep if he stayed there.

"Why don't we stay there? I was thinking of cooking some good meals for my fourth brother's wife to help her recover."

"Come on, sit there for a bit and then come back. Before, during Chinese New Year, you would put food on her plate, but she wouldn't eat it. She would just put it in the fourth son's bowl. Now, if you cook for her, she will eat it?" Grandpa Hao pursed his lips, thinking that even if Grandma Hao cooked, the fourth son would probably eat it all by himself.

"How can I not eat it? I didn't put rat poison in it."

"He just doesn't like your cooking!" Grandpa Hao finally voiced his long-held feelings.

"Disgusting? I raised five children even though it's disgusting! Even the fourth son doesn't complain, so how could she complain? Wait a minute! Fourth daughter-in-law never said my cooking is bad, how did you know?" Grandma Hao stared wide-eyed at Grandpa Hao suspiciously.

"Sisi must be crying because she can't find us. I'm going out now." Grandpa Hao pushed open the door of the small house and hurried out to look for his granddaughter.

"Oh! You good-natured man, so it was you who complained that my cooking was bad! You ran away, huh! If you've got the guts, don't come back today!" Grandma Hao chased after Grandpa Hao to the front gate, hands on her hips, pointing at him as he ran away and shouting.

"Oh, you're such a kind person, oh, you're such a kind person... So you were just disgusted by me, so you were just disgusted by me... Your cooking is awful, your cooking is awful..."

When Grandma Hao heard the voice behind her, her expression changed, and she regretted that she had been too slow and hadn't pulled Grandpa Hao along.

"Good man! Come back right now!!! Didn't we agree to go to Lao San's house today?"

Unfortunately, Grandma Hao called out too late; Grandpa Hao, who had already run far away, didn't hear her.

Grandpa Hao didn't go anywhere else; he went directly to the third son's house to visit his in-laws and give them a heads-up.

“No problem! Just send it over!” The in-laws readily agreed, completely unaware of the power of coconut flakes.

Hearing their conversation, Hao Xiaopang began to rub his hands together, ready to get revenge for having his meat stolen.
