Chapter 5 Bright Moon
Chen Wan was a person who never showed his sadness or joy. Lin Yu stared at him for a while, but couldn't see any clues. Instead, he felt a little anxious for no reason.
Sometimes, being too introverted is not a good thing. If you hold it in, you will eventually collapse.
He decided to enlighten Chen Wan. After getting in the car, Lin Yu looked up at the sky, thought for a while, and asked Chen Wan if he was hungry.
Chen Wan took off half of his earphones and looked at him with a smile in his eyes. "Are you hungry?"
"It will probably be eight or nine o'clock if we go back to the city at this time. Let's eat outside. It's a good opportunity for me to repay you." Lin Yu smiled. "I had a stomachache last time thanks to you. I have been planning to find an opportunity to take you out for dinner."
Chen Wan hummed, "Nothing."
"I have a friend who opened a restaurant. The food is delicious. You can go and try it." Lin Yu did not give her a chance to refuse and said to himself.
The sky was full of sunlight and the car was driving on a winding mountain road. The shadows cast by the rocky mountains on the other side spread layer by layer on the car window, like a black tide, pushing them forward.
It was similar to what Lin Yu said. When we arrived in the city, it was already past nine o'clock and the lights were bright everywhere.
After he called to reserve a table, he felt much more relaxed.
Lin Yu’s happiness is very simple, having a delicious meal is enough.
He led Chen Wan through the bustling main street and turned into a long alley.
Chen Wan saw from afar a red paper lantern hanging under the eaves of the door, and on the ebony plaque were written the three words "Wangyouju" in flowing strokes.
In the bustling downtown, this store appears particularly quiet and quaint, with a sense of being hidden in the city.
"My friend was born in a family of scholars and grew up immersed in ink, so he chose a literary name for his shop." Lin Yu laughed and walked forward to knock on the door.
Soon a young woman in cheongsam came to open the door. Chen Wan's eyes fell behind her and he began to understand what "another world" meant.
Opposite the door is a square patio with a bluestone jar standing in the center and a clump of water bamboo standing next to it.
Maple trees and wintersweets are planted in an orderly manner along the corridors on both sides.
The maple leaves are stacked up layer upon layer, and from a distance they look like crimson clouds, silent and quiet.
The wintersweets are in bloom densely, with flower buds all over the branches and diagonally, looking prosperous and lively.
Lin Yu was a rough man, and he didn't have the leisure to enjoy the view. He went straight to the living room and took a seat by the window. Chen Wan sat across from him. "Is this really a restaurant? It looks like a painting and calligraphy exhibition hall."
In such an otherworldly house, you can hardly feel the mundane atmosphere of firewood, rice, oil and salt.
"Yes, this place mainly serves Zhejiang and Huaiyang cuisine." Lin Yu weighed the menu and said casually, "Don't be shy, just eat as much as you can."
"Don't you like Sichuan cuisine?" Chen Wan asked curiously.
Zhejiang cuisine tends to be sweet, while Lin Yu has always loved the spicy and strong Sichuan cuisine.
Lin Yu was thinking that he heard that girls would feel better after eating sweets, but he didn't know what Chen Wan's mood was, whether it was good or bad. He was afraid of making things worse, so he simply brought her to eat sweet food so that he could also satisfy his appetite.
Lin Yu ordered squirrel mandarin fish, Longjing shrimp, sweet and sour fish, and West Lake water shield soup. When he wanted to order other dishes, Chen Wan held his hand and said that was enough.
"This almond tofu soup is delicious." He smiled and added another dessert before feeling satisfied.
The waiter first brought two cups of Snow Water and Cloud Green Tea. Lin Yu said that he wanted to eat Longjing shrimp later, and it would not be fresh if he drank Qingqian Tea again.
He is particularly concerned about food and has his own rules.
Chen Wan nodded, took a sip of tea and continued to look at the furnishings in the hall.
Facing the crescent-shaped door, a cluster of emerald green banana leaves cast a broad dark shadow on the white wall, like a lightly sketched ink painting.
There is a pot of cloud bamboo on the table, which looks like layers of overlapping green clouds. There are Indian jasmine flowers planted at the roots. The clusters of crimson Indian jasmine fruits look like coral beads under the light, which is very cute.
The style is elegant and perfect.
"Do you like it here?" Lin Yu suddenly asked her.
Chen Wan was startled for a moment, looked at him, and then nodded. "This is my first time to eat in such an elegant place. Thank you."
The goal was almost achieved. Lin Yu smiled happily, waved his hand and said, "Why are you being so polite to me? Just eat as much as you can later."
After a while, the ordered dishes were served one by one, and the two started eating tacitly. After all, they had been on the road all day and were really hungry.
Chen Wan ate heartily. Her favorite was the almond tofu soup, which was as white and tender as milk and sprinkled with a thin layer of osmanthus honey.
The slightly bitter taste of almonds mixed with the delicate soup and osmanthus honey creates a unique taste.
After finishing the meal, Lin Yu went to pay the bill.
His old classmate Zhang Mo arrived late and blocked Lin Yu's way. "Hey, Officer Lin, I hope you are alright."
Chen Wan stood aside silently and looked up at the ancient paintings on the wall.
"Who is this?" His interest fell on Chen Wan, and he said in a surprised tone, "Your current girlfriend?"
When Chen Wan heard the word "current", his heart moved, but he soon became discouraged. This meant that Lin Yu had an ex.
Lin Yu slapped him directly, "My sister is still a high school student, don't talk nonsense."
Zhang Mo was just teasing him, and he glanced at Chen Wan, who was motionless, and said, "So she's your sister. I thought you were so stupid as to bring your current partner to the place where you had a relationship with your ex."
Zhang Mo is a pampered man, and he and Lin Yu have been friends for many years, so there is a hint of frivolity in his words unconsciously.
As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Wan suddenly looked at Lin Yu, his eyes like a cat with its fur standing on end.
Lin Yu felt a little puzzled, but Chen Wan quickly withdrew his gaze and focused on looking at the painting, as if he had not even looked at him.
"Don't be so blunt. I just brought my sister here for dinner today. Besides, you should get some sleep at this hour."
Lin Yu came back to his senses and chatted with Zhang Mo for a few minutes, then left with Chen Wan.
Before, he felt that Chen Wan’s emotions were difficult to perceive, like clouds and mist, making it difficult to see clearly.
He is always quiet on weekdays. When he is not talking, he is like the silent moon, cold and distant.
But now she seemed to be showing some emotion.
Her frown and pursed lips showed that she was not in a good mood.
Lin Yu scratched his head and said with a wry smile, "My classmate likes to joke around. Don't take what he said just now to heart."
He realized belatedly that there was something wrong with his current girlfriend. Chen Wan and he had nothing wrong, so he might be unhappy to hear this.
"Which one?" Chen Wan looked up at him.
Lin Yu looked into her eyes and said carefully, "Just say that, you are my current partner."
Listening to him talk about it, Chen Wan felt that the tree in her heart seemed to shake its branches, making her feel a little moved and happy.
She turned away and walked forward, but couldn't help asking, "Do you often go there to eat with your ex?"
This topic started a little suddenly, and Lin Yu was wondering if it was a little too early to talk about this topic with high school students.
But I still answered her, "Well, because the three of us are old classmates, she is from Hangzhou and is used to eating the flavors of her hometown, so we always come here to eat."
Just now, Chen Wan noticed that Lin Yu hardly touched the plate of almond tofu soup. He didn't like sweet food very much.
If you like someone, you will silently keep the other person's preferences in mind and be willing to cooperate with them.
Chen Wan felt that she shouldn't have asked this question, and suddenly lost interest, because she felt that there seemed to be another layer between her and Lin Yu.
She knew nothing about his past, which made Chen Wansheng feel depressed.
Seeing that she didn't ask any more questions, Lin Yu wanted to change the topic and asked, "Have you figured out how to cook the dishes we just ate?"
Chen Wan glanced at him speechlessly when he heard this. "I'm not the Chinese chef boy who can learn to cook just by eating."
"Yeah, did your mother teach you how to cook?"
Hearing him mention the word "mother", Chen Wan stopped.
Lin Yu suddenly remembered that her mother had passed away, and regretted that she was bringing up something that was irrelevant.
"Yeah." She answered softly, and then added, "Actually, my dad is also a good cook. He taught me how to cook."
Lin Yu was stunned for a moment. This was the first time that Chen Wan took the initiative to talk about his parents. His expression suddenly became serious, and he looked as if he was holding his breath.
Seeing him like this, Chen Wan found it a little funny. He wasn't giving a statement, so why was he taking it so seriously?
But she also felt that the lovable thing about Lin Yu was that although he looked careless, he was actually very cautious and careful in all aspects of his dealings with others, the kind that was subtle and silent.
As we were walking, we happened to pass by a park. She pointed and said, "Shall we go for a walk to help digest our food?"
Lin Yu nodded and walked into the park with her.
The cobblestone path winds its way to the lakeside, where a large locust tree grows by the water. The lake water is clear and emerald green, the same color as its lush branches and leaves.
The colors of early spring.
There is an old street lamp on the shore, and the dim light cast on the water looks like a drifting moon.
Chen Wan sat on the bench and began to talk about her family.
Scenery references when writing
Thoughts: This story is very slow, and I just want to write about the kind of homely love that penetrates silently. Chen Wan and Lin Yu are like two people living their lives, slowly and calmly letting each other into their lives. Companionship is the most lasting love.
My writing style is relatively mild, but fortunately the pace of this story is relatively fast. Chen Wan's love is not abrupt. Young people's love is very simple. If someone treats her well, they will unconsciously start to care about her. However, for now, this is at most a palpitation. Lin Yu, the straight man, is very pure. He is attracted by the girl's cooking skills.
But to capture a man's heart, you must first capture his stomach, hahahaha.
Thanks again Mrs. Songzier!!!
