Chapter 308 The Mysterious Ah Xian

Chapter 308 The Mysterious Ah Xian

Ji Wan nodded, "Yes, everyone was very happy at that time."

She walked into the kitchen and was stunned to see fresh vegetables and meat on the stove.

"This is."

"Someone has been here." Chi Lin walked over to her and picked up a piece of paper that read, "Sister, I came to see you today and brought you some food."

The last person written down was a person named Ah Xian.

Ji Wan took the note, his eyes full of confusion, "Who is Ah Xian?"

Chi Lin shook his head. "Maybe it's the caregiver who takes care of your mother?"

"Impossible, Mom can't come here by herself." Ji Wan frowned.

Chi Lin thought for a moment and said, "Perhaps, someone has been taking care of this place and knows about your mother's situation."

Ji Wan looked around and found that although the house was dusty, it was not dirty and it seemed that someone did clean it regularly.

"It's very strange." Ji Wan muttered to himself.

Suddenly, there was lightning and thunder outside, followed by heavy rain.

"It's raining." Chi Lin walked to the window and looked at the increasingly heavy rain. "It looks like it won't stop for a while."

Ji Wan checked his phone and said, "It's almost six o'clock. Why don't we have dinner here? There's food in the fridge anyway."

"You can cook?" Chi Lin was a little surprised.

Ji Wan rolled her eyes at him, "Why, do you look down on me?"

Chi Lin raised his hands in surrender, "I dare not."

The two of them started busying themselves in the kitchen. Ji Wan washed and cut vegetables, while Chi Lin was responsible for boiling water and cooking.

Surprisingly, his cooking skills were quite good and the dishes he cooked were fragrant.

"I didn't expect Mr. Chi to have such skills." Ji Wan admired sincerely.

Chi Lin chuckled, "After being alone for a long time, you have to learn to cook for yourself."

The two of them worked together in perfect harmony, and soon a simple but fragrant dinner was ready.

Two meat dishes, two vegetable dishes and one soup, all delicious and fragrant.

"Let's eat." Chi Lin pulled out a chair and motioned Ji Wan to sit down.

Ji Wan was a little dazed. This warm feeling reminded her of the time when she had dinner with her grandmother when she was a child.

The rain got heavier and heavier, and the sky darkened.

After dinner, Chi Lin took the initiative to go to the kitchen to wash the dishes, while Ji Wan tidied the table.

Suddenly, a huge thunder exploded, and then the whole house fell into darkness.

"Power outage?" Ji Wan groped his way towards the kitchen.

"It should be." Chi Lin's voice came from the kitchen, "Do you have a flashlight?"

"No, but I remember grandma used to put candles in the drawer." Ji Wan groped his way to the cabinet in the living room and found a few candles and matches in the drawer.

She lit a candle, and the dim light illuminated the small living room. Chi Lin also wiped his hands and came over.

"The rain is too heavy. I'm afraid I can't go back tonight." Chi Lin said as he looked at the heavy rain outside the window.

Ji Wan nodded. "Then stay here for the night. We have guest rooms anyway."

As he was speaking, Chi Lin's cell phone rang. He took out his phone and glanced at it, his expression slightly changed. "I'll take a call."

He walked aside and answered the phone.

"Hey, Vivi."

A woman's crying voice came from the other end of the phone, and Ji Wan overheard a few words.

"Brother Lin, where are you? The thunder outside is so scary. I'm scared to be home alone."

Chi Lin lowered his voice and said, "Don't be afraid, it's just thunder. It's okay."

"I'm really scared. Can you come and stay with me?" The woman's voice was tearful and pitiful.

Chi Lin hesitated for a moment. "It's raining too hard tonight. I can't go through. Just draw the curtains and turn on the lights. It will be fine soon."

There seemed to be something said on the other end of the phone. Chi Lin patiently comforted her a few more words before hanging up.

He returned to Ji Wan and found that she was tidying up the guest room and making two beds.

"It's all ready, you can live in this room." Ji Wan pointed to the room on the left.

Chi Lin nodded, "Thank you."

"That was Ning Weiwei just now, right?" Ji Wan suddenly asked.

Chi Lin was stunned for a moment, then nodded, "Yeah, she's afraid of thunder."

Ji Wan didn't ask any more questions, but walked towards his room, "Then I'm going to rest first, good night."

"Good night." Chi Lin looked at her back, thoughtfully.

Ji Wan closed the door, leaned against it, and took a deep breath.

She didn't know why she cared about the relationship between Chi Lin and Ning Weiwei, when they were obviously just enemies.

In the room, Chi Lin sat on the edge of the bed, recalling the conversation just now.

Ning Weiwei's fear is real, and she trembles with fear every time there is thunder.

He sighed, thinking of Ning Weiwei's unhappy marriage.

Her ex-husband went bankrupt because of Ji Wan's brother Ji Lin, and then he abused Ning Weiwei and eventually divorced her.

Ning Weiwei once told him that if it weren't for the Ji family, she wouldn't have suffered so much.

A voice in Chi Lin's heart told him that Ning Weiwei's experience was indirectly related to Ji Wan, so he had to take care of her. This was a debt he and Ji Wan owed her.

But another voice questioned, is this really the case?

Outside the window, the sound of rain pattered and the thunder gradually faded away. Chi Lin lay in bed, listening to the rain, his mind full of thoughts, unable to fall asleep for a long time.

It was late at night, Chi Lin was lying on the bed, the sound of rain hitting the window was like countless tiny fingers urging something.

His thoughts were still wandering, and Ning Weiwei's frightened voice kept echoing in his ears.

Suddenly, a scream broke the silence of the night.

"Ah. Grandma."

Chi Lin sat up suddenly and rushed out of the room following the sound. In the living room, Ji Wan was kneeling on the ground, holding a white-haired old man in his arms. The old man's face was pale and his eyes were closed.

"What's going on?" Chi Lin walked over quickly.

Ji Wan looked up, his eyes full of panic, "Grandma suddenly appeared, I thought I was seeing things, and then she fainted."

Chi Lin leaned over to check the old woman's condition and found that her breathing was weak and her pulse was unstable.

"Call an ambulance." He quickly took out his cell phone.

Ji Wan's eyes were filled with tears, but he was extremely determined. "First, lift grandma onto the sofa."

The two men worked together to lift the old man onto the sofa. The old man was so light, like a feather. Chi Lin called the emergency number, but found that the signal was extremely poor and the call could not be connected.

"Damn rainstorm." He cursed under his breath.

Just then, his cell phone suddenly rang.

Ning Weiwei's name flashed on the screen. Chi Lin hesitated for a moment, but still answered the call.

"Brother Lin, save me." Ning Weiwei's voice was extremely weak, mixed with obvious sobs, "He found me, and he beat me again."

There was a sudden loud noise from the other end of the phone, followed by Ning Weiwei's scream and the man's roar: "Bitch, do you think you can hide?"

"Ning Weiwei? Ning Weiwei, how are you?" Chi Lin shouted anxiously, but the call was disconnected.

His expression suddenly changed, and he turned around twice, looking back and forth between Ji Wan and her grandmother, his brows furrowed.
