Chapter 309 The car was driven away

Chapter 309 The car was driven away

"What happened?" Ji Wan noticed his abnormality.

Chi Lin gritted his teeth and said, "Ning Weiwei was found by her ex-husband. It sounds like the situation is very dangerous."

Ji Wan's pupils shrank slightly, "Are you going to save her?"

Chi Lin nodded, his eyes full of struggle, "I have to go, but your grandma."

"I'll take care of it, just go ahead." Ji Wan's voice was calm, although there was still worry in his eyes.

Chi Lin hesitated for a moment, "How are you going to take her to the hospital if you don't have a car?"

"I can call an ambulance or ask the neighbors for help." Ji Wan said firmly.

Chi Lin looked at the heavy rain outside the window, then looked at the old man on the sofa, and finally made up his mind, "I have to go, I'm sorry."

He turned and walked quickly towards the door, paused, took out the car keys from Ji Wan's coat hanging on the wall, and quietly put them into his pocket.

"Be sure to send grandma to the hospital in time." After saying that, he rushed into the rain.

Ji Wan didn't notice his little movements, all his attention was on his grandmother.

She wiped her grandmother's forehead with a wet towel and anxiously called the emergency number, but the signal was always poor.

"Grandma, hold on, I will definitely take you to the hospital." Ji Wan held the old woman's hand and comforted her softly.

She suddenly remembered that there was a neighbor living next door who might be able to help.

Ji Wan had to leave his grandmother temporarily, rushed out of the room and knocked on the door next door.

"Who is it? It's the middle of the night." A rough voice came from inside.

"Sorry to bother you. I live next door. My grandmother suddenly fainted and I can't get through on the phone. Can I borrow your phone?" Ji Wan said anxiously.

The door opened, and a middle-aged man yawned and appeared at the door. "It's so late."

Ji Wan didn't wait for him to finish, "Please, my grandma is in critical condition."

Seeing her anxious face, the man finally nodded and said, "Come in, use my phone."

Ji Wan hurriedly dialed the emergency number and reported the address. The emergency center told her that due to the storm, it was difficult to dispatch vehicles and it might take at least an hour to arrive.

"An hour?" Ji Wan's face turned pale. "My grandma might not be able to wait that long."

After hanging up the phone, Ji Wan thanked his neighbor and hurried back to his grandmother's house.

Grandma's condition has not improved and her breathing is still weak.

"It seems I have to take grandma to the hospital myself." Ji Wan muttered to himself, rummaging through his coat to get the car keys, but found that his pockets were empty.

"Where are the keys?" Ji Wan panicked and searched everywhere. Suddenly, a terrible idea flashed through his mind.

She rushed to the window and looked through the rain at the parking lot.

The place was empty, her car was gone.

"Chi Lin." Ji Wan gritted his teeth, "You actually took my car keys."

Anger burned in my heart, but now was not the time to dwell on it.

Ji Wan forced himself to calm down and find a way to send his grandmother to the hospital.

She knocked on her neighbor's door again and asked for help, but the neighbor said he didn't have a car and could only help take care of the elderly.

Ji Wan had no choice but to call the emergency number again, but the storm caused the signal to be intermittent, and she couldn't be sure whether the call was actually connected.

"There's no other way." Ji Wan made up his mind, wrapped up his grandmother simply, and then carried her on his back and walked towards the main road.

The rain outside was like a waterfall. Ji Wan carried his grandmother on his back, wading through ankle-deep water and walking forward with difficulty.

The cold rain flowed down her cheeks, but she gritted her teeth and moved forward step by step.

"Grandma, hold on, I will definitely take you to the hospital." Ji Wan whispered, as if to cheer himself up.

Finally reaching the main road, Ji Wan put his grandmother down and let her lean against the wall on the side of the road, while he stood in the middle of the road to stop a car.

But in the heavy rain late at night, there were almost no vehicles passing by.

A car's lights shone from a distance, and Ji Wan waved his hands and shouted desperately.

The car slowed down, but eventually passed by, and the splashing water soaked Ji Wan's whole body.

Ji Wan didn't give up and continued to stand in the middle of the road waiting for the next car. Her clothes were soaked, her hair was stuck to her face, and her whole body was shaking, but the determination in her eyes remained unchanged.

Another car's headlights shone down, and Ji Wan stumbled to the middle of the road, waving his hands. This time, the car really stopped.

The car window rolled down, revealing a familiar face, Chi Wenyan.

"Ji Wan?" Chi Wenyan frowned, obviously not expecting to meet her in such a situation.

"Chi Wenyan." Ji Wan almost cried with joy, "Please help me, my grandma fainted, I have to take her to the hospital."

Chi Wenyan opened the car door without saying a word, "Where is the person?"

Ji Wan pointed to the corner of the wall by the roadside. Chi Wenyan walked over quickly, picked up the old man and put him in the back seat.

Ji Wan followed her into the car, soaking wet, with water flowing down her clothes and onto the seat.

"I'm sorry, I got your car wet." Ji Wan's voice trembled and his teeth chattered.

Chi Wenyan didn't answer, but took out a blanket from the back seat and handed it to her, "Wrap it up first, don't catch a cold."

After thanking him, Ji Wan wrapped himself tightly in the blanket and looked at his grandmother in the back seat with concern. "She's in a very bad condition. We have to get to the hospital as soon as possible."

Chi Wenyan nodded, stepped on the accelerator to the bottom, and the car sped in the rain.

"Why are you here? It's the middle of the night." Ji Wan couldn't help but ask.

Chi Wenyan was silent for a while, "Aunt Shang Yunmin asked me to come and see you."

Ji Wan's heart moved, "How did she know I was here?"

Chi Wenyan looked straight ahead and did not answer.

The car fell into silence, with only the sound of raindrops hitting the windows and the swishing of the wipers.

"Is that old woman who fainted really your grandmother?" Chi Wenyan suddenly asked.

Ji Wan smiled bitterly, "I don't know either. My grandmother passed away ten years ago, but she suddenly appeared in the living room tonight and then fainted."

Chi Wenyan frowned, thinking, "It's very strange."

"Everything is strange." Ji Wan said softly, "My mother said she went to visit grandma, and there were fresh ingredients in the refrigerator, and the name 'Ah Xian' was written on the note."

Everything is like a mystery.

Chi Wenyan turned his head and glanced at her, "Ah Xian?"

"Do you know this person?" Ji Wan asked anxiously.

Chi Wenyan shook his head, "No, it's just that the name sounds familiar."

Ji Wan sighed and looked at the blurry rain outside the window, "Chi Lin took my car keys and went to rescue Ning Weiwei."

Chi Wenyan gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles turning white. "Ning Weiwei? What happened?"

"I heard she was beaten by her ex-husband." Ji Wan said calmly, "Chi Lin received her call for help."

"Didn't he stay to help you?" Chi Wenyan's voice was a little cold.

Ji Wan didn't answer, but just looked at his grandmother's pale face in the rearview mirror.

"We're almost at the hospital." Chi Wenyan quickened his pace. "Don't worry, everything will be fine."
