Chapter 310: Interlocking
Ji Wan nodded, but her heart was full of questions.
Why did Chi Lin choose Ning Weiwei instead of staying to help her? Why did Chi Wenyan appear here in the middle of the night? Why did Grandma come back to life, and who is Ah Xian?
There seem to be more secrets hidden behind all this.
She didn't know the inside story, but she felt creepy.
The car drove through the rain and sped towards the hospital.
The raindrops hit the car window, as if telling a story that no one knew.
The car was driving fast in the heavy rain. Ji Wan looked back from time to time to check on his grandmother, his fingers trembling with nervousness.
"Hold on a little longer, we'll be at the hospital soon." Chi Wenyan looked straight ahead with a steady voice.
Ji Wan nodded, but her heart was filled with worry. The rain soaked her whole body, and she was exhausted from the long journey. Her forehead touched the cold car window unconsciously, and she felt dizzy.
The lights of the hospital finally appeared in front of him. Chi Wenyan quickly parked the car at the emergency entrance, rolled down the window and shouted to the security guard at the door: "Someone has fainted and needs emergency treatment."
The security guard ran over immediately. Chi Wenyan had already gotten out of the car and walked quickly to the back seat to carry the old man out.
"Zhou Yan." Chi Wenyan suddenly saw a familiar figure walking out of the security booth not far away.
Zhou Yan quickly ran over, "Second Master, why are you here?"
"Don't ask, just help." Chi Wenyan ordered briefly.
Zhou Yan immediately went over to help and carefully carried the unconscious old man down from the car. At the same time, Chi Wenyan opened the other door and saw Ji Wan trying to get out of the car, his face as pale as paper.
"What's wrong with you?" Chi Wenyan reached out to support her.
Ji Wan reluctantly shook his head, "I'm fine, save grandma first."
Before he could finish his words, Ji Wan's legs went limp and he fell forward.
Chi Wenyan was quick to act and hugged her, "Be careful."
Noticing that her body temperature was abnormally high, Chi Wenyan couldn't help but exclaim, and immediately realized that she had a high fever.
"Zhou Yan, call a doctor quickly, there's a situation here too." Chi Wenyan carried Ji Wan and walked quickly towards the emergency room.
Medical staff arrived quickly, and two stretchers were quickly pushed over. Zhou Yan placed the old man on one of the stretchers, and the doctor immediately began to check the old man's vital signs.
"This patient is not in good condition and needs to be examined immediately." As the doctor spoke, the nurse was already pushing the stretcher into the emergency room.
Chi Wenyan carefully placed Ji Wan on another stretcher. Her eyes opened slightly and her lips trembled as she wanted to say something.
"Don't talk, start treatment first." Chi Wenyan said softly, his eyes full of worry.
Ji Wan struggled and reached out to grab his sleeve, "Grandma, you must save her."
"I understand, don't worry." Chi Wenyan nodded and patted her hand gently.
The nurse pushed Ji Wan's stretcher and quickly walked into the emergency room, with Chi Wenyan and Zhou Yan following behind.
"Second Master, is there anything you need me to do?" Zhou Yan asked in a low voice.
Chi Wenyan pondered for a moment and said, "Go call Aunt Shang Yunmin and tell her we are at Yucheng Central Hospital and the situation is urgent."
Zhou Yan nodded and left, while Chi Wenyan paced back and forth in the corridor outside the emergency room with a frown on his face.
About half an hour later, the doctor came out.
"The patient's family?" The doctor looked around.
Chi Wenyan immediately stepped forward and said, "I am."
"The old man's condition is quite serious. The preliminary diagnosis is cerebral hemorrhage and a fracture of the right leg. He needs immediate surgery. Please complete the hospitalization procedures as soon as possible." The doctor said seriously.
"The cost of the surgery is not a problem, please arrange it immediately." Chi Wenyan said decisively.
The doctor nodded and said, "That's good. Please go with the nurse to complete the formalities."
Just as Chi Wenyan was about to follow, another doctor came out from the next clinic.
"Sir, are you Miss Ji Wan's relative?"
Chi Wenyan stopped and asked, "Yes, how is she?"
"She has a high fever of 39.5 degrees Celsius, and she is on her menstrual period, so her condition is not good. We have given her a fever-reducing injection, but she needs to be hospitalized for observation," explained the doctor.
Chi Wenyan frowned, "Menstrual period?"
The doctor nodded. "Yes, the combination of being caught in the rain and having her period caused her temperature to rise and she's very weak. A ward has been arranged for her, but she's a little confused now and needs someone to take care of her."
Chi Wenyan was silent for a moment, "I understand, which ward is she in?"
"Ward 312, at the end of the corridor on the right."
Chi Wenyan thanked the doctor, went through the hospitalization procedures for both of them with the nurse, signed the consent form for surgery, and then came to Ward 312.
Ji Wan was lying on the hospital bed, his face pale, with a fever-reducing patch on his forehead and a thin blanket covering his body. He looked weak and powerless.
There was a glass of water and several bottles of medicine on the bedside table.
Chi Wenyan walked to the bedside and looked at Ji Wan's closed eyes, a complicated emotion welling up in his heart.
In his impression, this woman has always been strong and stubborn, and never shows weakness easily.
"Hmm." Ji Wan opened his eyes slightly, his gaze unfocused.
"The doctor said you need to drink water and take medicine." Chi Wenyan's voice was stiff and seemed a little reluctant.
Ji Wan seemed to want to say something, but fell into unconsciousness again. Chi Wenyan sighed, reached out to support her upper body, and picked up the water cup on the bedside table.
"Drink some water." He put the cup to her lips.
Ji Wan opened his mouth slightly, drank a few sips of water reluctantly, and then suddenly curled up in pain, as if suffering from great pain.
"What's wrong?" Chi Wenyan frowned.
Ji Wan didn't answer, but instinctively curled up into a ball, hugged his arms around his abdomen, frowned, like a wounded stray cat.
Chi Wenyan stood aside, at a loss.
He had never cared for a sick woman, especially one who was menstruating.
The nurse came in to check on Ji Wan and, noticing her condition, explained, "She might be suffering from dysmenorrhea, which is common when you have a high fever and your period. There are painkillers on the bedside table. Please have her take them."
After the nurse left, Chi Wenyan hesitated for a moment, but still picked up the pills and cup of water from the bedside table.
"Ji Wan, take your medicine." He tried to get Ji Wan to look up.
Ji Wan opened his eyes drowsily, swallowed the pills and water in pain, and fell back onto the pillow weakly.
"Grandma, how is she?" Ji Wan asked weakly.
"The operation is in progress. The doctor will do his best." Chi Wenyan answered briefly.
Ji Wan nodded and fell into a semi-comatose state again. Chi Wenyan sat on a chair beside the bed, looking at Ji Wan's painful expression, and suddenly remembered that when he was a child, he saw a stray cat wet by the rain, also curled up like this, helpless and fragile.
Zhou Yan knocked on the door and came in. "Second Master, the old lady is on her way and will be here in about two hours."
Chi Wenyan nodded, "How is the old man's surgery going?"
