Chapter 312 Care

Chapter 312 Care

"Drink slowly, there's no rush." Chi Lin's movements were gentle and skillful, as if he had taken care of his grandmother many times.

Ji Wan looked at this scene in surprise, not knowing how to react.

This grandmother had clearly passed away ten years ago, but she appeared before her alive again.

Chi Lin's familiarity with her grandmother made her even more overwhelmed.

"Grandma, the doctor said that your cerebral hemorrhage and fracture are under control. As long as you rest well, you will be fine." Chi Lin put down the water cup and helped grandma tidy up the corner of the quilt.

Grandma looked at Chi Lin kindly and said, "Good boy, I'm fine, don't worry."

A middle-aged woman in the bed next to her leaned over and said to Ji Wan with a smile, "Your husband is so kind. He's been waiting here for the old man to wake up, and he's also been busy looking after the medical expenses. You've found a good man."

Ji Wan smiled awkwardly, not knowing how to explain.

Chi Lin responded generously: "It's my duty. Grandma has loved me for many years. This little thing is nothing."

Ji Wan watched coldly as Chi Lin bustled around in the ward, pouring water for his grandmother, adjusting the bed, and asking questions for the doctor. He acted like a filial grandson, and even the patients in the next bed couldn't stop praising him.

"It's rare to find such filial young people these days."

"Yes, look how carefully he takes care of the old man."

"The young man is also handsome and has a promising future."

Ji Wan was feeling upset, but he couldn't show it in front of his grandmother, so he could only endure it.

About an hour later, grandma fell asleep again due to the effect of the medicine. Ji Wan stood up and winked at Chi Lin, and the two of them walked out of the ward one after the other.

There was a small balcony at the end of the corridor. Ji Wan stopped and turned to face Chi Lin.

"What exactly do you want to do?" Ji Wan asked bluntly.

Chi Lin put his hands in his pockets and leaned against the wall. "What do you mean?"

"Don't play dumb." Ji Wan said coldly, "My grandmother passed away ten years ago. Who is this person now? And you're obviously very familiar with her. Why?"

Chi Lin was silent for a moment before he spoke: "She is indeed your grandmother, but she is not dead. Ten years ago, she was sent abroad for treatment and has been living there ever since. Only recently, when her condition stabilized, did she return to Yucheng."

Ji Wan frowned, "That's impossible. I saw my grandmother buried with my own eyes."

"That's an empty coffin," Chi Lin said calmly. "Your father had a lot of debts at the time, and the creditors were all eyeing your grandmother's property. So he fabricated the illusion that your grandmother had passed away, but in reality, he sent her abroad for treatment."

Ji Wan was so shocked that she was speechless. She never expected things to be like this.

"Why didn't you tell me all these years?" Ji Wan's voice trembled a little.

Chi Lin sighed, "Your father didn't want you to know, fearing you wouldn't be able to bear the secret. Besides, you were only a teenager at the time. If the creditors knew you knew about it, you would be in danger."

Ji Wan leaned on the railing, feeling dizzy. All the truths seemed so absurd, yet so reasonable.

"But how did you know my grandmother?" she asked.

Chi Lin raised the corner of his mouth, revealing a mysterious smile. "This is a very long story. I'll tell you when I have the chance. The important thing is that we should take good care of grandma now."

"We?" Ji Wan sneered, "Chi Lin, I think there is no 'we' between us anymore."

Chi Lin frowned slightly, "What do you mean?"

"What I mean is, you should give up on remarrying." Ji Wan looked directly into Chi Lin's eyes. "I won't get back together with you, ever. As for our cooperation, it ends here."

A flash of shock crossed Chi Lin's face, then turned into anger. "Ji Wan, don't forget, your current situation is entirely due to me. The lifeblood of the Ji Group is still in my hands. Do you think you have the right to break up with me?"

"I don't care anymore." Ji Wan said calmly, "Ji's can go bankrupt, but I can't go on like this. Last night, you took my car keys and abandoned my grandmother to save Ning Weiwei. This has made me see everything clearly."

Chi Lin grabbed Ji Wan's wrist and said, "Calm down. I've already explained it. The situation was urgent..."

"Let go." Ji Wan said coldly, "From now on, we are even."

Chi Lin stared at Ji Wan closely, with an unpredictable emotion flashing in his eyes, "You will regret this."

"Maybe, but I won't regret it more than I do now." Ji Wan broke free from his hand, turned and walked towards the ward, "I will take good care of grandma, you don't have to worry."

Chi Lin stood there, looking at Ji Wan's back, slowly clenching and unclenching his fists.

After a pause, his eyes changed from shock to disbelief, and then to an inquiring look, as if to confirm whether Ji Wan was just speaking in anger.

"Ji Wan, calm down." Chi Lin followed her footsteps and lowered his voice, "You are very emotional now. Let's talk about it when we get home."

Ji Wan didn't even turn around, "There's nothing to talk about."

Chi Lin grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the corner of the corridor. "You can't be so willful. The relationship between us can't be severed just like that."

"Willful?" Ji Wan sneered, "Chi Lin, what do you take me for? Your property?"

Chi Lin took a deep breath and tried to control his emotions. "Listen, I didn't handle last night well. I apologize. But you can't make such a decision on impulse."

"Impulsive?" Ji Wan looked into his eyes, her voice eerily calm. "This is a decision I've carefully considered. You always say nice things, but when it comes to the crucial moment, you always put others first."

"Weiwei's situation is very special, you know." Chi Lin's tone softened. "Her ex-husband will do something to her. I can't just sit back and watch."

Ji Wan shook his head. "I don't want to hear these excuses anymore. It's more important who you chose. I made my choice too."

A flash of anger flashed across Chi Lin's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. "Okay, calm down for a few days and take good care of grandma. Once her condition stabilizes, we can talk again."

After saying that, he turned and left, his back stiff and full of unwillingness.

For the next few days, Ji Wan stayed by her grandmother's bedside almost every step of the way. To her surprise, Chi Lin also showed up at the ward on time every day, bringing various nutritional supplements and fruits, asking about her grandmother's well-being and taking care of her meticulously.

What made Ji Wan feel even more awkward was that Chi Lin always acted very close to her in front of her grandmother, calling her "Wanwan" from time to time, helping her with her hair, or handing her a cup of hot tea, his eyes full of tenderness.

"Wanwan, you look very tired. Take a rest." Chi Lin said with concern in front of his grandmother, his hand gently resting on Ji Wan's shoulder.
