Chapter 341 Breaking Through
At this moment, Chi Wenyan was completely different from his usual cold and distant image.
The care and consideration he showed made Ji Wan feel strangely at ease.
Ji Wan took the handkerchief and gently wiped the corners of his eyes, "Thank you."
The two stood in silence for a while, and Ji Wan gradually calmed down.
"Go see your mother." Chi Wenyan suggested softly.
Ji Wan nodded, and the two of them walked towards Hua Ying's ward together.
When I opened the door, Hua Ying was already sleeping quietly, and Jing Nanxing was sitting by the bed watching over her.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Ji Wan come in.
"Her emotions have stabilized. The doctor gave her a sedative." Jing Nanxing explained softly, his eyes falling on Chi Wenyan's forehead. "Is the injury serious?"
Chi Wenyan shook his head, "It's just a minor injury."
Ji Wan walked to his mother's bedside and stroked her forehead. "Thank you for taking care of her, Nanxing."
"That's what I should do." Jing Nanxing smiled, his eyes moving back and forth between Ji Wan and Chi Wenyan, as if he wanted to say something, but ultimately remained silent.
At this moment, the door of the ward was suddenly pushed open and Chi Lin strode in.
"Wanwan." His voice was filled with anxiety, but when he saw the people in the room, his expression immediately changed, "Chi Wenyan? Why are you here?"
Chi Lin's gaze fell on Chi Wenyan's forehead, then he looked at Ji Wan, with a hint of questioning and anger in his eyes.
Before Ji Wan could explain, Chi Lin strode forward and demanded, "What are you doing? Why are you all here together?"
"Chi Lin," Ji Wan's voice turned cold, "Please keep your voice down. My mother is resting."
Chi Lin took a deep breath and lowered his voice, but his anger was still obvious. "I've been looking for you all day, and you're with him?"
"It's not what you think," Ji Wan said calmly, "Chi Wenyan saved my mother."
Chi Lin was stunned. "What do you mean?"
"My mother lost control of her emotions just now and rushed to the road and was almost hit by a car. Chi Wenyan rushed to save her, but he was injured and the car was damaged."
Ji Wan explained, with a hint of relief in his tone, “If it weren’t for him, the consequences would be disastrous.”
Chi Lin's expression changed several times, his eyes moved back and forth between Ji Wan and Chi Wenyan, finally landing on Chi Wenyan's wound.
"Is that so?" he asked, his anger having lessened considerably.
Chi Wenyan nodded lightly without saying much.
Chi Lin coughed awkwardly, "Then... thank you."
The atmosphere was a little awkward for a moment. Jing Nanxing cleared his throat and said, "I'm going to go for a walk outside."
After saying that, he tactfully left the ward.
Chi Wenyan also stood up and said, "It's time for me to go."
"Wait," Ji Wan stopped him, "I'll take you to the hospital for a check-up."
Chi Lin frowned and said, "No need, I can take him there."
"No need," Chi Wenyan said coldly, "I can go by myself."
Ji Wan insisted, "No, I promised Doctor Wang that I would make sure you don't have a concussion. Chi Lin, you stay here and take care of my mother. I'll take Chi Wenyan to the hospital and will be back soon."
Chi Lin wanted to object, but seeing Ji Wan's determined look, he finally nodded in agreement.
"Okay, I'll wait for you here." Chi Lin said reluctantly, with dissatisfaction still in his eyes.
Ji Wan nodded and turned to Chi Wenyan, "Let's go."
The two left the ward. Chi Wenyan's steps were a little unsteady, and Ji Wan couldn't help but reach out to hold his arm.
Chi Lin, who followed him out of the door, saw this action and his expression became even gloomier.
After leaving the sanatorium, Ji Wan hailed a taxi.
Before getting in the car, she turned around and said to Chi Lin, "We need to talk when we get back. I have something important to discuss with you."
Chi Lin nodded and watched them get into the taxi and leave.
Inside the car, Ji Wan was about to sit in the passenger seat when he suddenly noticed a bright red mark on the seat.
It's a lipstick mark.
She frowned, unable to hide her disgust, then immediately changed her mind and sat in the back row.
Chi Wenyan noticed the change in her expression, but did not comment. He just sat down next to her quietly.
"Go to Yucheng Central Hospital." Ji Wan said to the driver, then turned to Chi Wenyan, "How do you feel? Are you still dizzy?"
Chi Wenyan shook his head, "Much better."
Ji Wan breathed a sigh of relief, but her brows were still furrowed. The lipstick mark just now reminded her again that the scene she saw in the temple that morning was not an illusion.
Chi Lin’s betrayal was real, and it was obviously not the first time.
"You look like you're worried about something." Chi Wenyan suddenly spoke, breaking the silence.
Ji Wan laughed coldly, "It's hard to put it into words."
Chi Wenyan didn't ask any further questions, but just quietly watched the scenery passing by outside the window. Ji Wan was grateful for his consideration, unlike some people who would ask too many questions.
"Your car..." Ji Wan suddenly remembered something, "The insurance should be able to compensate for it, right?"
Chi Wenyan nodded gently, "Don't worry."
"If there's anything I can do, please let me know." Ji Wan said seriously, "I really appreciate your help today."
Chi Wenyan turned to look at her with a gentle look in his eyes, "You've said thank you many times."
"Because I'm really grateful." Ji Wan whispered.
The two fell silent again, but this time the atmosphere was no longer tense, but rather strangely comfortable.
The taxi continued to move forward, but Ji Wan's thoughts drifted back to the sanatorium.
Chi Lin's sudden appearance, his questioning, his jealousy... everything showed that he still had feelings for her.
But she could no longer tell how much of this feeling was true and how much was just possessiveness.
The only thing that is certain is that she needs to have a good talk with Chi Lin. It's time to make a break.
It was already evening when Ji Wan and Chi Wenyan returned from the hospital.
The doctor confirmed that Chi Wenyan only had a mild concussion and could go home to rest after his wound was treated.
In front of the sanatorium, Chi Lin's black Maybach was parked on the side of the road, but the owner of the car was nowhere to be seen.
As soon as Ji Wan got out of the car, he heard the sound of glass breaking in the parking lot, followed by the dull thud of a heavy object hitting metal.
"What's going on?" Ji Wan frowned and walked towards the sound.
In the corner of the parking lot, Chi Lin was smashing his car with a brick. The windows were broken and the hood was dented. His face was twisted, his eyes full of anger and pain.
"Chi Lin." Ji Wan exclaimed and stepped forward quickly, "What are you doing?"
Chi Lin turned around abruptly and saw Ji Wan. The anger in his eyes subsided slightly, but soon flared up again. "You're finally back. Did you enjoy your visit with Chi Wenyan?"
Ji Wan looked at him coldly, "We went to the hospital and the doctor said he had a mild concussion and needed observation."
Chi Lin sneered and threw away the brick in his hand, "You really care about me, President Ji."
"He saved my mother. This is the most basic gratitude." Ji Wan said in a flat tone.
Chi Lin took a step forward and smelled the faint scent of medicine on her body. His face became even gloomier. "Thank you? Are you sure it's just a thank you?"
"What do you mean?" Ji Wan keenly noticed the implication in his words.
