Chapter 433 Intimate Advice
Ji Wan hung up the phone, his fingertips tapping the table unconsciously, thinking about the conversation he had just had with Zhao Xiyue.
She told Zhao Xiyue about Xiaoya's ridiculous threat as a joke, but Zhao Xiyue on the other end of the phone was not as relaxed as she was.
"Wanwan, don't be careless," Zhao Xiyue said solemnly, "People like this have no bottom line. You have to be on guard, especially now that a child is involved."
Ji Wan's lips curled up, his tone still nonchalant: "Don't worry, Xiyue, it's just bluffing. She has nothing in her hands, what kind of storm can she stir up?"
"It's better to be safe than sorry," Zhao Xiyue said, still worried. "It's always better to be more careful. I always feel like there's something wrong with Xiaoya's eyes."
"Okay, okay, I'll pay attention." Ji Wan responded perfunctorily, but he didn't really take the reminder seriously.
A woman who could barely support herself, and you thought you could threaten her with a few unfounded rumors? It was simply a fantasy. Ji Wan quickly put the matter behind him and returned his attention to the design in his hand.
However, fate is sometimes so sudden that it strikes you hardest when you are least alert.
The next morning, sunlight streamed into the house through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and everything seemed peaceful and beautiful.
As usual, Ji Wan went to see his son first.
I opened the door of the baby's room, but it was empty.
The bedding was neatly arranged on the soft little bed, but there was no familiar little figure.
Ji Wan's heart skipped a beat, and a strange feeling quietly spread.
"Auntie Zhang?" she called out, her voice relatively steady.
No response.
She called out the confinement nanny's name again: "Mrs. Li?"
Still quiet. The nursery was eerily still, even the usual babbling of the baby gone.
The composure on Ji Wan's face instantly faded, and a strong sense of unease gripped her. She hurried out of the nursery and searched the second floor, but neither her son nor the confinement nanny, Mrs. Li, was anywhere to be found.
"Where are they?!" she shouted downstairs, her voice already hurried and trembling imperceptibly. "Have you seen the young master and Mrs. Li?"
The servants looked at each other and shook their heads.
"Morning, Mrs. Li held the young master in the yard and played with him for a while, but soon she said she wanted to go back to her room..." a young maid whispered.
"Back to the room? When?" Ji Wan asked sternly.
More than an hour!
Ji Wan's heart felt like it was being tightly grasped by an invisible hand, making it almost impossible to breathe. She forced herself to remain calm, but her body's instinctive reaction betrayed her. Her fingertips were cold and trembling slightly.
"Surveillance, check the surveillance," she turned abruptly, her gaze sweeping across the housekeeper standing nearby like a sharp blade. "Now, immediately, check all the surveillance cameras at the door and in the yard!"
The housekeeper was frightened by her sudden and fierce aura and did not dare to delay, so he immediately responded and did it.
The living room fell into a dead silence, the only sound being Ji Wan's rapid breathing. She stood before the giant screen, her eyes fixed on the surveillance footage. The seconds ticked by, each one a torture.
Finally, the housekeeper switched the screen to an hour ago.
The figure of Xiaoya, the confinement nanny, appeared clearly on the screen. She hurried toward the side door, her sleeping son in her arms, her expression calm. She avoided people and, without anyone noticing, quickly got into a black sedan that had been waiting there.
The car door closed and the car sped away, disappearing at the end of the surveillance range.
At that moment, all the blood in Ji Wan's body froze.
She looked at the woman on the screen, who at this moment was like a stranger, leaving the house without hesitation with her son.
Zhao Xiyue's warning, Xiaoya's distorted face, and her own indifferent attitude, all of them instantly flooded into her mind, interweaving into a huge net that trapped her tightly.
A bone-chilling chill rushed from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. Ji Wan's face was as pale as paper, but in those beautiful eyes, an unprecedented, almost destructive fire was burning.
Her son! How dare someone touch her son!
"Investigate, investigate that car for me. Use all your connections to find the person."
Ji Wan's voice was low and hoarse, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, with a terrifying cruelty, "I want to know who ordered her to do this!"
Her hands at her sides were clenched into fists, her nails digging deep into her palms. The piercing pain allowed her to maintain a last bit of clarity.
This time, it's not a clown.
This time, she was truly touched!
Ji Wan dialed the familiar number with trembling hands. The call was picked up almost instantly, and the man's low and calm voice came: "Wan Wan?"
"Wen Yan..." Ji Wan's voice was broken, with a heavy nasal tone and uncontrollable fear, "The child... the child was taken away by Xiaoya!"
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, followed by the harsh sound of seats rubbing against each other. Chi Wenyan's voice suddenly became as cold as ice, with an oppressive feeling of impending storm.
“Where is it?!”
"The surveillance footage showed her getting into a black car and heading out of town. I don't know where she's going. Wen Yan, our son, I'm so upset."
Ji Wan choked up and could barely utter the following words.
"Don't be afraid, wait for me." Chi Wenyan's voice was firm and without hesitation, "I will bring my son back immediately."
After hanging up the phone, the air pressure around Chi Wenyan dropped to an alarmingly low level.
He picked up his coat and strode out of the office, exuding a cold murderous intent.
The assistant and secretary felt this breath and dared not breathe.
"Immediately, mobilize all available resources and block all major traffic routes out of the city. Check the trajectory of the black car. Don't miss any surveillance and any details!" His voice was like an ice-hardened blade, leaving no room for doubt.
"Yes, Mr. Chi!" The assistant responded quickly and started to act immediately.
Chi Wenyan drove the car himself at an astonishing speed, with only his son and Ji Wan's pale face in his mind.
He couldn't imagine how devastated Ji Wan was at that moment, let alone what would happen to his son. That confinement nanny named Xiaoya actually dared to touch his child.
The tracking system was much more efficient than Xiaoya had anticipated. She thought she had been stealthy enough, leaving behind those "clever" clues that were enough to make Chi Wenyan go through a lot of trouble, and step into her trap step by step in anxiety and worry.
However, in just one hour, Chi Wenyan's car stopped precisely in front of the abandoned warehouse in the suburbs where she was hiding.
In the desolate suburbs, a dilapidated warehouse, overgrown with weeds, exuded a gloomy atmosphere. Xiaoya stood at the warehouse door, holding a sleeping baby, her face a look of morbid pride and nervousness.
