Chapter 498 Follow Me Back

Chapter 498 Follow Me Back

Ji Wan gasped in pain from his wrist and struggled hard: "Chi Wenyan, let me go, we have nothing to talk about anymore."

"Nothing to say?" Chi Wenyan sneered, his scarlet eyes revealing undisguised possessiveness. "Ji Wan, have you forgotten that you are still my wife? Why are you so impatient to go out on a date with another man?"

His words were like a poisoned blade, piercing Ji Wan's heart.

Her cheeks flushed with anger and humiliation: "Chi Wenyan, you are simply unreasonable. What does it have to do with you who I meet? We are getting divorced soon."

"Divorce?" Chi Wenyan's face became even uglier, and the strength in his hands increased a bit. "Don't even think about it until I agree. Now, immediately, come with me. I need to explain everything to you."

"I don't want to listen. I don't want to hear any explanation from you." Ji Wan resisted fiercely, trying to shake off his grip. "Isn't the matter between you and Su Jiujiu clear enough? Chi Wenyan, you make me feel sick."

"That's a misunderstanding." Chi Wenyan growled, the anger and anxiety in his eyes almost swallowed him.

He didn't want to discuss those unpleasant details here in front of another man. He just wanted to take her away, lock her up, and explain everything to her.

Sun Zhou looked at the two people in front of him who were on the verge of a fight, and a barely perceptible gleam flashed in his eyes.

He took a step forward, his tone filled with worry: "Mr. Wen Yan, Wanwan doesn't look well, are you..."

"You have nothing to do here." Chi Wenyan turned his head abruptly and shouted, then pulled Ji Wan even harder, "Come with me."

"I won't leave." Ji Wan shouted stubbornly, his feet nailed to the spot.

During the struggle, Ji Wan lost her balance. She screamed and staggered backwards.

"Bang."

A dull thud was heard, and Ji Wan's waist and abdomen hit the hard edges of the marble coffee table behind him.

Severe pain instantly spread from her lower abdomen, causing her vision to go dark and cold sweat to drip down.

She groaned and her body slid softly to the ground.

"Wanwan."

Chi Wenyan's movements came to an abrupt halt when he saw Ji Wan curled up in pain, his already pale face now devoid of any color.

His heart seemed to be gripped tightly by an invisible hand. All his anger and jealousy faded away at this moment, leaving only overwhelming panic and self-blame.

"Wanwan, what's wrong with you?" He hurriedly let go of her hand and wanted to help her, his voice trembling violently with fear, "I'm sorry, I, I didn't mean to, I..."

Before his hand even touched Ji Wan, she used all her strength to push it open.

"Don't touch me!" Ji Wan's voice was broken and weak. She covered her lower abdomen tightly, beads of sweat oozing from her forehead. She looked at Chi Wenyan with eyes full of pain and despair.

Chi Wenyan's outstretched hand froze in mid-air. The determination in Ji Wan's eyes was like an ice pick, piercing into his softest heart.

The words "Don't touch me" carried a bone-chilling chill, instantly freezing all his anxiety and regret. He looked at her pale face, at her bitten lower lip oozing blood, and his heart ached. Even his breath tasted of blood.

"Wanwan," he said with difficulty, his voice extremely hoarse, "I'll take you to the hospital, okay? Please..."

Ji Wan seemed not to hear his words, and his eyes passed him and fell on Sun Zhou, who had walked closer to him. Sun Zhou's face was still gentle, but in Chi Wenyan's eyes, it was full of provocation and complacency.

"Senior Sun," Ji Wan's voice was weak but clear, and every word seemed to be spoken with all his strength, "Please, take me to the hospital."

Sun Zhou took a step forward and gently tried to help Ji Wan up: "Okay, Wanwan, don't be afraid, I'll take you there."

His eyes were concerned and his tone was gentle, which formed a sharp contrast with Chi Wenyan, who was at a loss and had bloodshot eyes.

"No." Chi Wenyan reacted suddenly, like an enraged trapped beast.

He wanted to rush over and snatch Ji Wan back from Sun Zhou, but Ji Wan's cold and disgusted eyes made him feel like he was falling into an ice cave, and his steps were too heavy to move.

He pushed her away with his own hands, and now, she has chosen another man.

This realization caused him more pain than any torture.

"Chi Wenyan, what else do you want?" Ji Wan endured the severe pain in his lower abdomen and looked at him coldly, "I'm already like this, do you still want to force me to death?"

"I didn't, I wasn't..." Chi Wenyan was incoherent, the pain in his eyes almost overflowing, "Wanwan, don't go with him, I was wrong, I was really wrong."

Ji Wan closed her eyes and stopped looking at him. She just said to Sun Zhou, "Let's go."

Sun Zhou carefully helped Ji Wan up, letting most of her weight rest on him.

He didn't even look at Chi Wenyan, but just focused on protecting Ji Wan, as if Ji Wan was his most precious treasure.

Chi Wenyan watched helplessly as Sun Zhou half-carried Ji Wan out, step by step, each step feeling like it was stepping on his heart. He wanted to chase after him, but his legs felt like they were filled with lead.

He wanted to shout, but his throat felt blocked. A strong sense of powerlessness and despair completely overwhelmed him. He could only watch their backs disappear at the entrance of the cafe. That door separated two worlds.

The lights in the hospital were so bright that they were a little dazzling.

The doctor carefully examined Ji Wan's injuries and asked a few more questions. His expression gradually eased. "It's okay, it's just a soft tissue contusion. The bones are fine. But the impact was quite severe. You need to rest well for the next few days and avoid lifting heavy objects. I'll prescribe some blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing topical medicine for you. Apply it regularly."

Ji Wan breathed a sigh of relief, his tense nerves relaxing a little: "Thank you, doctor."

Sun Zhou stayed by her side the whole time, offering her water at the right time and carefully keeping the doctor's prescriptions and medicines. He was considerate and thoughtful throughout the whole process, while maintaining an appropriate distance so as not to offend anyone.

After coming out of the clinic, Ji Wan leaned against the wall in the corridor. The pain in his lower abdomen was still there, but it had eased a lot compared to before.

"Senior Sun, thank you so much for today." Ji Wan's voice was a little tired, but his tone was sincere. "If it weren't for you..."

"We are classmates. There's no need to be polite about such a small matter." Sun Zhou interrupted her gently with a faint smile in his eyes. "How do you feel now? Do you want me to take you home to rest?"

Ji Wan shook her head and turned her eyes to the window, which was the direction of the hospital's inpatient department: "No, I want to go see Nian Nian." Her daughter was still in the hospital, and she couldn't fall down.

Sun Zhou followed her gaze and nodded in understanding: "Okay, then I'll take you there."
