Chapter 499 No Need to Bother
"Don't bother, I can do it myself." Ji Wan didn't want to trouble him anymore, and she didn't want to have too much involvement with anyone other than her daughter.
Sun Zhou didn't insist, but handed her the medicine bag in his hand: "Then be careful. If you feel uncomfortable, call me anytime." He paused and added, "I will do my best to arrange Nian Nian's bone marrow transplant."
When mentioning Nian Nian, Ji Wan's eyes softened a lot, and there was a hint of gratitude: "Thank you, Senior Sun."
"It's my duty." Sun Zhou smiled slightly, his smile still warm.
Ji Wan said no more, took the medicine bag, turned and walked towards the inpatient department.
Her steps were slow, but each one was firm. The pain Chi Wenyan had caused was unforgettable, but for Nian Nian, she had to be strong.
Looking at Ji Wan's gradually receding back, the gentle smile on Sun Zhou's face slowly faded, and an unpredictable light quietly flashed in the depths of his eyes.
As Ji Wan walked downstairs to the inpatient department, he ran into a figure in a white coat. It was Dr. Li, Nian Nian's attending physician.
"Ms. Ji, I was just looking for you." Doctor Li's expression was much more relaxed than usual, and his steps were a little anxious.
Ji Wan's heart suddenly rose to his throat, and he asked nervously: "Doctor Li, is it Nian Nian..."
"It's great news, incredibly good news." Dr. Li smiled broadly, his voice filled with uncontrollable excitement. "We've just received notice that all preoperative preparations have been approved, and the bone marrow transplant can be arranged. Please contact the donor as soon as possible and have him come to the hospital. We can work together to schedule the surgery."
A surge of joy suddenly gripped Ji Wan, washing away the fatigue and pain she'd endured for days. Almost staggering, she leaned against the wall, her voice trembling as she asked, "Really? Can the transplant be done?"
"Absolutely true." Doctor Li nodded vigorously. "Nian Nian can be saved. We recommend the sooner the better. When is the donor's convenience?"
"I'll contact him right away." Ji Wan took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down. She pulled her phone from her pocket, her fingertips trembling slightly with excitement as she found the familiar yet somewhat complicated name - Sun Zhou.
The call was connected almost immediately.
"Hello, Ji Wan?" Sun Zhou's gentle voice came from the receiver.
"Senior Sun," Ji Wan said, trying to keep his voice steady. "The hospital has informed us that Nian Nian is now ready for a bone marrow transplant. The doctor asked you to come over to discuss the specific time."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, and then Sun Zhou's smiling voice came: "Great, I'll be there right away, wait for me at the hospital."
Within half an hour, Sun Zhou appeared in Dr. Li's office.
He still looked gentle and refined, and when he looked at Ji Wan, his eyes were filled with soothing power.
Dr. Li communicated the specific situation and recommended surgery time to the two people.
"According to our assessment, the surgery can be performed as early as three days from now." Dr. Li looked at them. "If the donor's physical condition allows, this time is ideal."
Sun Zhou nodded without hesitation: "There's no problem on my side. Everything depends on Nian Nian. It will be completely fine in three days." He turned his gaze to Ji Wan and said in a gentle tone, "What do you think?"
Ji Wan's heart began to beat violently because of the exact time of "three days later". All his worries and uncertainties turned into great anticipation at this moment.
She nodded vigorously, her eyes moist: "Okay, in three days."
Things went unexpectedly smoothly, and Dr. Li immediately began to arrange follow-up matters.
Coming out of the office, Sun Zhou looked at Ji Wan's slightly pale face and said softly, "You should also rest well these few days and get enough energy. I will be there on time on the day of the surgery."
"Thank you, Senior Sun." Thousands of words came to my lips, but in the end they were reduced to just this one sentence.
At this moment, in her eyes, Sun Zhou was Nian Nian's savior.
Sun Zhou smiled faintly: "For you, and for Nian Nian, it's all worth it."
He paused for a moment and then said, "Then I'll go back first. You should go see Nian Nian. She must miss her mother too."
Ji Wan hummed and watched Sun Zhou leave. His back was straight and tall, with a reassuring calmness.
She turned around and almost ran towards Nian Nian's ward.
The little baby was lying on the hospital bed. Because of chemotherapy, his hair was sparse and his face looked a little sallow.
But when Ji Wan opened the door, Nian Nian's big eyes like black grapes immediately lit up, and she stretched out her little hands babbling.
Ji Wan quickly walked to the bedside and carefully picked up his daughter. He couldn't help but burst into tears, and drops of them fell on Nian Nian's small swaddling clothes.
"Niannian, my Niannian..." Ji Wan hugged her daughter tightly, her voice choked with sobs, but filled with unprecedented joy and strength. "You are saved. Three days, just three more days, and my baby will be saved."
The little one in her arms seemed to sense her mother's emotions and giggled, rubbing Ji Wan's cheek gently with her toothless gums.
Ji Wan burst into laughter, kissed his daughter's forehead, and his heart was filled with infinite hope.
The pain brought by Chi Wenyan seemed less unbearable in the face of the great news that his daughter was about to be rescued.
For Nian Nian, she can endure anything.
Two days later, Sun Zhou followed the doctor's instructions and was admitted to the hospital in advance to undergo a series of detailed preoperative examinations.
Ji Wan calculated the time and came to Sun Zhou's ward in the afternoon when he had settled down.
When I opened the door, a faint smell of disinfectant filled the air.
Sun Zhou was wearing a blue and white striped hospital gown, leaning against the hospital bed reading a document. The sunlight shone on him through the window, making his usually gentle temperament even softer. However, his face was a little paler than in the past few days, obviously due to some fatigue brought by the days of examinations.
"Senior Sun." Ji Wan called softly.
Sun Zhou looked up when he heard the voice, and when he saw that it was Ji Wan, a familiar gentle smile immediately appeared on his face: "Ji Wan, you are here, please sit down." He put down the documents in his hand and gestured to the chair next to him.
Ji Wan walked over and placed the fruit basket she had brought on the bedside table. Her eyes fell on his slightly tired face and she asked with concern, "How are you feeling? Did the examination go well?"
"Everything is fine, just some routine tests, don't worry." Sun Zhou's voice was still so reassuring. "The doctor said all the indicators are normal. We'll just have to wait until the day after tomorrow."
Ji Wan nodded, and the hope that his daughter would be rescued grew stronger.
She was silent for a few seconds, took out a bank card from her bag and handed it to Sun Zhou.
"Senior Sun, please accept this."
