Chapter 526 Meeting

Chapter 526 Meeting

She didn't answer immediately, but said lightly: "Chi Wenyan, you chose to believe her instead of me, which broke my heart. Some cracks can't be mended by just saying sorry."

"I know, I know!" Chi Wenyan's voice became more and more anxious, "But please believe me, my feelings for you have never changed! Su Jiujiu's child is fake, and there is nothing between her and me! Isn't this enough for you to reconsider our relationship?"

Ji Wan's fingertips tapped lightly on the glass, making a subtle sound. Everything that had happened in the past few days flashed through her mind, from her initial shock and anger, to her subsequent calmness and counterattack, and finally to the slight confusion at this moment.

Su Jiujiu's conspiracy was completely exposed, and she received the punishment she deserved.

Chi Wenyan was also troubled by this incident and his reputation was damaged.

"I need some time to calm down." Ji Wan finally spoke, a hint of fatigue in his voice, "So much has happened recently, I'm confused."

Chi Wenyan heard the relaxation in her tone, and a glimmer of hope ignited in his heart: "Okay, okay, I'll give you time. Wanwan, no matter how long it takes, I will wait for you. But please don't sentence me to death directly, okay?"

Ji Wan didn't say anything else and hung up the phone.

Chi Wenyan listened to the busy tone on his phone, unable to recover for a long time. Ji Wan didn't directly refuse, which was already great news for him. He leaned against the wall and let out a long sigh, as if the huge stone in his heart had been lifted.

He knew that the road to getting Ji Wan back was still long, but he would never give up.

The Su Jiujiu incident continued to escalate online. The Chi Group's legal department formally filed a lawsuit against Su Jiujiu, accusing her of commercial fraud, defamation, and other offenses. Su's business was also implicated, its stock price plummeting, and partners terminating their contracts, leaving it in a precarious position.

Ji Wan, on the other hand, became a role model for independent women in the eyes of the public, who managed to turn the tide and outsmarted the mistress. Besides apologies, her social media posts were filled with praise and support.

"Boss Ji is so powerful, he tears that bitch apart with his bare hands, it's so satisfying!"

"This is a true strong woman, brave and resourceful!"

"Although Mr. Chi was confused before, he has seen things clearly now. I hope he and Mr. Ji can reconcile!"

Ji Wan looked at these comments, with a subtle smile on his face.

Reconcile? I'm afraid it's not that simple.

But at least, the biggest dark cloud hanging over her heart has dissipated.

The sunlight streamed through the blinds, casting dappled shadows on Ji Wan's desk. With a flick of her finger, the praise and supportive comments on the screen dispelled the gloom she had felt for days.

"Get back together?" Ji Wan whispered to himself, the subtle curve at the corner of his lips deepened a bit, but with a hint of coldness.

She picked up her phone and dialed the familiar number.

The call was connected quickly, and Chi Wenyan's slightly hoarse voice, which could not hide his surprise, came from the other end: "Wanwan?"

"Chi Wenyan," Ji Wan's voice was calm, without any emotion. "Do you have time? Let's have dinner together."

Chi Wenyan responded almost immediately: "Yes! Of course! Where do you want to eat Wanwan? When? I'm fine with it!" His voice was a little unstable with excitement, and full of cautious flattery.

"I'll decide." Ji Wan said calmly, "I'll let you know when it's decided."

Without giving him a chance to say more, she simply hung up the phone.

Hearing the busy tone coming from the phone, Chi Wenyan's hand holding the phone tightened slightly, but his heart was beating wildly because of the words "Let's have a meal together".

This was the first time Ji Wan contacted him and even asked him out for dinner after the Su Jiujiu incident!

Is this a positive sign?

He didn't dare to think too deeply, fearing that the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment.

But no matter what, he will seize this opportunity and perform well.

In the evening, Ji Wan sent the restaurant address to Chi Wenyan.

It is an elegant private restaurant with a quiet environment, perfect for conversation.

Chi Wenyan arrived at the private room reserved in the restaurant fifteen minutes in advance.

He had deliberately changed into a low-key yet stylish casual suit and had his hair carefully styled, trying to look less haggard and more energetic. Every minute and every second of waiting seemed incredibly long to him.

The door of the private room was pushed open and Ji Wan appeared on time.

She wore a simple beige silk shirt and black wide-leg pants, her long hair casually draped over her shoulders, and her makeup was delicate yet understated. She exuded a sense of competence and aloofness, her clear eyes calm and composed without a trace of emotion.

Chi Wenyan stood up suddenly, his eyes glued to her, his Adam's apple rolling unconsciously: "Wanwan, you're here."

Ji Wan nodded slightly, his gaze lingering on him for a brief moment before he looked away and sat down at the dining table.

Chi Wenyan sat down awkwardly, wanting to say something but not knowing where to begin. An indescribable awkwardness hung in the air.

The waiter came in at the right time and asked if the food could be served.

"Go ahead." Ji Wan spoke in a light voice.

Chi Wenyan quickly added: "Pick something light, she has been..."

He wanted to tell her that she had been working hard recently, but he swallowed the words back and whispered, "As long as she likes it."

The waiter retreated.

The private room fell silent again.

The dishes were served one after another, they were exquisite and delicious, but both of them had no taste.

Chi Wenyan tried several times to break the suffocating silence, but his eyes met Ji Wan's calm face, and all the words were stuck in his throat. He could feel that she had erected an invisible barrier around him, isolating him from the outside.

"Wanwan," he finally mustered up the courage, his voice trembling with a barely perceptible tremor, "thank you...for being willing to see me."

Ji Wan put down the chopsticks in her hand, wiped the corner of her lips gently with a napkin, raised her eyes and looked at him, her eyes as calm as a pool of deep water: "Chi Wenyan, do you think that now that the matter of Su Jiujiu has been resolved, we can pretend that nothing happened between us?"

Chi Wenyan's heart sank suddenly, and he hurriedly defended himself: "That's not what I meant! Wanwan, I know I was wrong, I..."

"What's your mistake?" Ji Wan interrupted him, his tone still calm, but with an invisible pressure.

Chi Wenyan opened his mouth, and the apologies and explanations he had prepared long ago suddenly became pale and powerless at this moment.

He looked into Ji Wan's eyes. There was no anger or resentment in them, only a calmness that made him uneasy.

"My mistake was not believing you the first time." He spoke with difficulty, each word weighing heavily. "My mistake was being deceived by Su Jiujiu, causing you to suffer so much injustice."
