Chapter 10 Aman and Aman

Chapter 10 Aman and Aman

"Achoo!" I raised my hand to rub my nose and shivered slightly. Even though it was summer, I was starting to feel a little cold.

"What's wrong?" The second burden came closer, looking somewhat worried.

I cupped his face in my hands and looked up at him through the heavy rain. "Don't move! You're making me dizzy," I shouted, squeezing my eyes shut.

"I didn't move," he muttered softly.

"Ah Man... I'm dizzy." I steadied myself by hooking my arm around his neck, looking miserable. "Take me to Aunt Wang's house."

"Aunt Wang?" He looked puzzled.

"Shh!" I put my index finger to his lips. Mmm, his lips were soft. "Don't be so loud..." I chuckled softly. "Aunt Wang, she's a barefoot doctor..."

What is a barefoot doctor?

"Silly... a traveling doctor, hehe, a traveling doctor without a business license... You know, I need to save up money to treat your head... Aunt Wang's treatment is cheap... Shh! Keep your voice down... you'll get arrested..." I said, shaking my head. Strange, why do I feel top-heavy?

"You're sick." He looked at me, his voice indifferent, his gaze somewhat cold.

I was slightly taken aback, shook my head, and stared at him again. "Strange, your gaze was so strange just now..." In a dizzying moment, I fainted...

I groggily opened my eyes and smiled weakly, "Aman, what time is it?"

Aman stepped forward, her face full of questions, "What?"

Seeing Aman dressed in a single white shirt, I was stunned for a moment, then my senses returned to normal. I exclaimed "Ho!" and stood up. Then I felt something strange about the clothes I was wearing, the feel of the fabric against my skin...

The feel of the fabric against my skin?! I was shocked. Looking down, I realized I was only wearing a bright purple robe!

“You, you, you…” I reached out my hand, trembling, and pointed at him.

“You got soaked in the rain…” He looked at me with an innocent smile, “so I helped you take off your clothes to dry them.”

"Take it off?" I gritted my teeth.

"Hmm," he nodded, looking very serious, "but your clothes are all so strange."

A vein bulged on my forehead as I turned to look at the "strange" clothes he had left hanging to the side.

My adorable little bra... was just hanging there so openly!

"Hey? Why is your face so red? Are you feeling unwell? Did you catch a cold?" He cupped my face in his hands and asked with great concern.

Grinding my teeth, I stared hatefully into his eyes. I swore that if I saw even the slightest hint of impurity in those eyes, I would kick him away...

But... he was damnably nonchalant about it...

My memories flashed back to the orphanage. Ah Man... that guy must have done something just as stupid as that that made me want to bang my head against the wall...

Looking around, he saw that it was an abandoned house. He had started a fire and his clothes were hanging out to dry.

"Where's my bag!" I exclaimed suddenly, remembering something.

"Oh, this?" He handed me the bag he was holding.

I quickly took it, opened it to look, and thankfully it was made of leather and there was no water seepage.

The rain outside hadn't stopped, and the sky was still dark.

I had no choice but to reluctantly sit back in my original spot.

He sat down obediently, without moving an inch, occasionally stealing a glance at me before quickly looking back at the ground when our eyes met.

"Hey... um, what's your name?" Finally unable to bear the eerie atmosphere any longer, I gave in and spoke first.

“Aman,” he said with a smile.

"Who exactly are you?" I asked, frowning as I looked at him.

He shook his head, his blank expression returning.

"Then what do you remember?" I asked with a sigh.

"Remember my name is Aman!" he laughed again, speaking quickly.

I raised my hand to my forehead. "Besides your name?"

He continued to shake his head.

"Why do you only remember names!" I growled through gritted teeth, my patience finally snapping. "Are you kidding me?!"

He was startled and moved back a little. "Because...you kept calling me...you called me...Aman..."

"Oh my god...please strike me with lightning..." I cried out to the heavens, "What is this...?"

boom!

God immediately granted my request.

I immediately and spinelessly crawled behind Aman.

"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid..." he murmured, raising his hand to cover my ears.

I resigned myself to my fate and let him ravage my ears, burying my head in my knees like an ostrich.

"I...I don't remember your name..." he said cautiously after a long silence.

"Xiaoxiao," I said weakly. "What do you mean I don't remember? I don't even know her!"

"Xiaoxiao?" His voice sounded a little strange.

I looked up at him suspiciously. "Don't tell me you know me."

“Yes,” he nodded, “I remember the name.”

What does it mean to lie through one's teeth?

When dawn broke, the rain stopped. I shooed Aman out the door, changed back into my own clothes, and wore that bright purple robe that was so flamboyant…

Flaunting? I paused for a moment, then a slight smile crept onto my face. Heh heh, look at this priceless fabric... isn't he the Prime Minister? If... I send the amnesiac Prime Minister back to his residence... then... heh heh, I can almost see money beckoning to me...

"Aman." I said with a smile as I opened the door.

"Um."

"Let me take you home," I said with a drooling grin.

He looked at my smiling face and took a step back in surprise.

"Do you know where I live?" he asked, looking at me expectantly.

I nodded. "Hehe, it's the Prime Minister's residence. You can ask anyone on the street."

After finding out our destination, I grabbed Aman and headed straight for the Prime Minister's residence.

"I... live here?" Aman looked at me in confusion.

I nodded, practically drooling as I gazed at the magnificent mansion gate; it looked incredibly wealthy…

They sent someone in to announce their arrival, and a short while later, a man with a small mustache came out.

"My lord..." Upon seeing Aman, the man with the mustache looked as if he had seen his own father, and was almost ready to rush over and hug him and cry.

"Who is he?" Aman took a small step back and moved closer to me.

"You don't recognize him?" I glanced at him and then nodded. "No wonder, you have amnesia, so it's enough that he recognizes you."

"My lord! It's me, A-Jiu!" The man with the mustache knelt down with a thud. "My lord, we've finally found you..."

Ah Man, however, hid behind me and refused to come out.

"Girl, thank you, thank you..." The man with the mustache gratefully pulled a bulging bag of coins from his pocket and gave it to me.

"Hehe, it's no trouble at all..." I happily accepted the money bag and turned to leave.

Wow, what a fruitful harvest... and I even got rid of a burden while I was at it... a win-win situation!

"Xiaoxiao..." Aman shouted from behind.

I was slightly taken aback, turned around, and saw that he looked completely bewildered. "It's okay, come in, this is your home!" I waved to him and gave him a smile.

"Xiaoxiao..."

Ah Jiu started pulling him, but Ah Man just kept calling out.

This was originally his home, and I was originally a nobody... Thinking about it this way, I felt at ease.

Humming a little tune, I paused, my expression almost eerily smooth. That Ah Jiu… why didn’t he even verify my identity before handing me money? And… why would a dignified prime minister suffer from amnesia and end up wandering the streets?

Biting my lip, I stuffed the money pouch into my bosom and turned back to the Prime Minister's residence.

When I reached the gate of the mansion, I froze, the ground littered with corpses...

Ah Jiu, with wide-open eyes, had one arm severed and looked like he died with his eyes wide open in disbelief.

Under the scorching sun, the smell of blood was especially strong...

"Man! Man!" My heart tightened and I shouted.

"Xiaoxiao..." A faint voice came from the corner of the wall.

"Aman!" I hurried forward.

He was covered in blood and huddled in the shadows in the corner.

“Xiaoxiao…” He looked up at me.

"Here! Here! Ah Jiu said she saw him!" Footsteps and voices could be heard in the distance.

I quickly grabbed Aman and we left around the corner.
