Chapter 134 School Starts

Chapter 134 School Starts

She already has experience in making grits porridge. She has cucumbers at home, and slicing them is a delicate job. No matter how thin or thick, they are sliced. Then she uses a knife to grind some chili peppers, add some salt and vinegar, and mix them together.

She had seen her family make pancakes several times. It looked simple, but it was a bit difficult to make.

There were many difficulties, the most difficult of which was the fire. She couldn't control the heat, and the bottoms of the first two pots were burnt. She was in a hurry to flip the pancakes, and her hand touched the pot, which burned her so much that she threw the pancake out.

Lu Dongping was worried about her, so he carried some corn to the wheat field and came back to take a look.

Wen Wan had just cried, her eyes were red, her face was covered in sweat from the fire, her hair was stuck to her forehead, and there were two black marks on her face. She looked so miserable.

I just cried, was angry, and felt pain, but now I feel better. The third pot of pancakes is finally done.

I feel a little happy.

Before the food could be taken out of the pot, Lu Dongping arrived at the door.

“Wanwan!”

Wen Wan turned around, looked at him with red eyes and a smile on her face: "Why are you back so early? The meal is not even ready yet!" As she said that, she did not forget what was in the pot, turned around and hurriedly shoveled out the pancake.

Lu Dongping looked at her, feeling as if something had stabbed him hard. He quickly walked over to her, hugged her, and wiped the soot off her face with his hand. His voice was slightly hoarse: "It's still early to get off work. I came back from carrying some corn, so I stopped by to check it out."

"I said, it's still very early!"

Lu Dongping hugged her and then let go: "What time do you go to school?"

"Just be there around nine or ten, and go clean up. I reckon most of the kids will wait until work is over at noon to go to school, and the teachers too."

While she was talking, the bottom of the pot had turned red, and she hurriedly put the noodles rolled out on the chopping board into it.

Lu Dongping was staring at her from the side, and suddenly he felt that he was an unforgivable sinner, as if he had pulled the little fairy standing high above the clouds down from the sky, and she fell into the mud pit with him and became a mortal.

Wen Wan put all the pancakes in the pan and looked back at him: "Hey, why are you still here? Are you trying to slack off? Be careful or I'll hit you with a stick."

Lu Dongping laughed, walked outside, and came back soon with a wet towel in his hand.

He took the spatula from Wen Wan's hand with his empty hand and flipped the pancakes in the pan skillfully. Then he took a towel and wiped her face carefully, as if he was wiping some precious treasure.

Wen Wan pursed her lips and tried not to cry, but it was true that she felt aggrieved.

When Lu Dongping held her hand and saw the place on her wrist where it had touched the pot, she frowned and couldn't bear it.

"pain!"

Lu Dongping knew it hurt without her saying anything. There was a red mark and blisters on his wrist, and there were also blisters on his fingers.

Lu Dongping hummed, wiped her carefully with a towel, pinched her hand and kissed it, then blew on it: "Will this make it better?"

Wen Wan smiled with tears in her eyes: "How could it be so fast? You just know how to coax me."

"Well, just coax him."

Wen Wan sniffed and reached out to push him: "Hurry up and go back to work. Don't take so long when you come back. Otherwise, the other members will be dissatisfied."

"I'm not familiar with it at first, but I'll be fine once I get used to it. I'm smart, and cooking is no problem for me."

Lu Dongping was reluctant to do so, but he was busy at the moment, so he had to do so even though he was reluctant.

He walked out of the yard, looking back every few steps.

Wen Wan finished making the pancakes before washing up. After eating, she locked the door and went to school with her bag in her hand.

It was already past ten o'clock when she arrived at school. As she expected, no one had come yet.

She opened an office first. No one was there for a whole summer and the room was covered with a layer of dust.

She first fetched some water and wiped her own table, and then went to wipe the windows and the door.

Before we even started, people started arriving one after another.

"Teacher Wen, so early!"

Wen Wan looked at Wang Xiannian, who was wearing a freshly washed suit with his collar and cuffs rolled up, and replied with a smile, "Principal Wang, you're up early too!"

After greeting Wang Xiannian, he asked, "Is the team getting busy now?"

"I've been busy for several days, but I can't leave the school. I came here early today to pack up. Tomorrow I have to go to the commune to pick up the books according to the number of people who have registered."

After saying that, he looked around and said, "You go ahead and do your work. I'll go clean it up."

Wen Wan responded and changed two basins of water before she could finally clean the window to a recognizable state.

After everything was cleaned up, students started to come and register.

The school suddenly became lively.

Wen Wan was busy checking homework, registering, issuing receipts, and collecting tuition fees...

Oh, there are only twenty-four students in the class this semester, and they won’t all come to register at the same time, so it’s not too busy.

The main thing is to check the homework.

Teachers will assign homework during school holidays, but not many of them can actually be completed after the holidays. Wen Wan knew this from her previous busy holidays, so she didn't have much hope this time.

But this time she thought of a good idea, which was reward.

Since she had completed her summer homework very seriously, she planned to praise her in class during the first class of the new semester.

Tomorrow, the principal is going to the commune to get books, and she is thinking about whether she can go with him and buy some pencils and notebooks from the supply and marketing cooperative.

She was busy until two o'clock in the afternoon. She counted and found that there were 24 students in the class, but only 19 were there.

The teachers in the office started packing up and preparing to go back.

Hu Gaoquan called out to Wen Wan, "Teacher Wen, have most of the students in the class registered?"

Wen Wan said, "Apart from the two who have to repeat the grade, there are still five children who haven't arrived yet."

"If you don't come now, you probably won't come today. There are 20 students in our class, and just over half of them are here. We're busy, and those who can work have to work at home. If you can't come today, you'll probably come tomorrow at noon when you get off work. If you don't come tomorrow, you basically won't come again." The person who said this was Wang Xueyi, the original fifth-grade teacher. After sending off a class of students, he took over Wang Xiannian's class this semester and continued to teach the fifth grade, while Wang Xiannian went to teach the first grade.

Wang Hongmei said, "Our class is fine, we are just short of two people. Teacher Wang, Teacher Hu, Teacher Wen, you guys go ahead and do your work, I'm leaving first, I have to go to work in the afternoon!" After saying that, she hurried away with her bag.

Lu Donglin stuck his head out of the office and took a look inside, then retracted his head. After Hu Gaoquan left, he stuck his head out again and wanted to call Wen Wan, but after thinking about it, he felt that it would have a bad influence and was afraid of disturbing her work.

Wen Wan saw him, smiled and started packing up. She locked the registered notebook in the drawer, counted the tuition fees she had collected again, put them in her bag and went out.

"Let's go!"

After leaving the school, Wen Wancai said, "I forgot everything. It's okay if you don't come. I can sign you up at the same time."

Lu Donglin said, "That's okay. It won't waste any time right now. Even though the sun isn't out today, it's still hot. Who knows if there are still bugs on the road in the middle of the day? They're a bit scary. My brother will feel more at ease if I go with you."

"It's just a coincidence that we met. You don't need to worry about me all the time. There are still two years left. After you finish fifth grade, you will go to the commune to attend junior high school. Then I will have to walk this path by myself."

Lu Donglin grew taller quietly over the summer and was now a head taller than Wen Wan. He was still lively but had become much more stable than before.

If Wen Wan had said this before the release, he would have immediately said, "Then I won't go to the commune!"

But now he grinned and said, "Two years, it's still early. Who knows, sister-in-law, maybe you can go to the commune to teach by then?"

Wen Wan laughed: "It's not that easy, you can go wherever you want. It's good now, close to home."

"It's not impossible. Sister-in-law, you're a high school student. I heard from my sister that the junior high school teachers in the commune have only a so-so diploma, at most a high school diploma."

Wen Wan didn't think too much about it. As far as the current situation was concerned, she was quite satisfied. There were only a few students in the class, and the knowledge they learned in elementary school was shallow. As long as they wanted to learn, she would find a way to make them master the knowledge in the textbooks.

She loves what she does and she thinks teaching is quite interesting. She will work hard to do this job well.

As for what happens next, just let it be. There is no need to think too much about it. Thinking too much is tiring.

Lu Donglin ran to the mountain without even entering his home. Wen Wan didn't go with him either, as she had to go to work. She has never been so self-conscious.

Learning to cook is her biggest progress so far.

Lu Dongping and the others had already returned for dinner. The pots and pans had been washed and the stove had been wiped clean, so she didn't need to clean up anymore.

She went into the house and when she came out, there was another person in the yard, a child with a dirty face and so thin that the only thing you could notice at first glance was his protruding eyes.

Whose child is this?

Wen Wan doesn't like going out. Apart from a few people she met at work, she doesn't have much impression of many people on the team.

She doesn't know him, so she doesn't plan to care.

Just as I turned around, the child actually shouted: "Mom, eat, eat!"

Wenwan is horrified!

What is that child shouting, mother?

As if to clear her confusion, the child ran towards her tremblingly and called out again: "Mom!"

Wen Wan's heart trembled, she was sure that he was calling her, but she had just gotten married and could not give birth to a child of such a big size.

So, is this kid a little stupid?

He entered the room as quickly as possible, slammed the door shut, and then stood in front of the desk and looked out through the window.

No one paid any attention to the child, and he burst into tears.

Wen Wan thought for a moment, then turned around and took out two candies from the box. She held them in her hands and went outside. She squatted down in front of the child and said, "Here, here are some candies! Don't cry."

The child didn't know what candy was. He snatched it from her hand and stuffed it into his mouth.

"Oh, you can't eat it like this, you have to peel off the paper!"

She reached out to take the candy and peel off the wrapper, but the child ran out of the yard as if he was guarding against thieves.
