Carrying the enamel basin back to the ward, Su Yuhe saw that someone had come to the bed that was empty last night.
She is an old lady in her sixties.
There were four or five people gathered around the bed, talking loudly and without lowering their voices at all.
It's annoying.
Su Yuhe frowned somewhat unhappily and was about to ask them to speak in a lower voice when she saw Jiang Lin actually opened his eyes.
She walked forward quickly and called out "Brother Lin" excitedly: "You are finally awake!"
Jiang Lin's Adam's apple rolled and he opened his mouth to speak, but because he hadn't had any water for a long time, his throat was very dry, his voice was hoarse, and he couldn't speak.
Su Yuhe only heard a few low syllables coming from his throat. She caressed his face distressedly and said, "Don't talk for now. Come, drink some water first."
She helped Jiang Lin up and put a pillow behind him.
Jiang Lin tried to support himself with both hands, but felt a sharp pain in his left hand. He looked down and saw that his left hand was covered in a heavy plaster cast. His eyes were dark and lonely, and his voice was hoarse:
"My hand..."
Su Yuhe pursed her lips, feeling equally distressed. However, since things had come to this point, she said softly, "It will be fine. The surgery has already been done. Just take care of it for a while, and you'll be able to move normally in the future. Just don't use this hand for heavy work in the future."
The water in the enamel teacup, which had been there for a while, was now warm and just right for drinking.
Su Yuhe fed Jiang Lin a few sips, and when she saw that he didn't want to drink anymore, she put the teacup back on the cabinet.
She took Jiang Lin's pulse and found that he was much better than before.
Jiang Lin waited for her to remove her hand and said, "Are you scared?"
"Yeah." Su Yuhe looked at Jiang Lin with a pout, but she couldn't bear to say anything harsh to him.
The two men who survived the disaster were talking to each other, forming two extremes with another group of noisy people in the same ward.
After listening for a few words, Su Yuhe realized that those people should be the old lady's children.
The quarrel seemed to be over money.
Seeing that the noise was getting louder, Su Yuhe was about to speak.
The old lady on the hospital bed suddenly shouted: "Stop arguing! Let me die! I don't want to spend your money and raise so many children. They are of no use when I die..."
After the old lady yelled like that, those people finally shut up.
There were three men and five women. Su Yuhe counted them silently. There were really a lot of people, no wonder it was so noisy.
A woman sat down beside the bed and said, "Mom, I won't ignore you, but you know, your grandchildren are still young, and I can't leave. There's no mother-in-law at home to help me take care of the children."
The youngest woman said, "I have to go to work and I don't have time to take care of my mother. You guys can make the arrangements."
"Big sister, little sister," a man said, "You said you have no money and no time. Why? She's your own mother, how can you bear it?"
"That's right, big sister," a man said unhappily, "you are my biological daughters."
"Now you know I'm your own daughter? When I got married, I took all the betrothal gifts to give to you to marry a wife. I didn't even have a bed or quilt as a dowry. Anyway, I've paid back everything I owed you."
…
The smell of gunpowder filled the ward, which had just been closed.
Seeing that another quarrel was about to break out, the old lady uttered a sharp voice: "Let me die!"
A nurse came and knocked on the door a few times, her tone somewhat impatient: "What are you arguing about? Go home and make a fuss if you want to. There are other patients here!"
One of the men, who looked a little older, raised his hand and said, "Excuse me, nurse."
The nurse stayed up all night last night to give Jiang Lin an IV drip. Because Su Yuhe was very polite, she had a good impression of Su Yuhe. When she was about to change shifts, she noticed the noise here and came over to take a look.
When I saw this, I didn't expect Jiang Lin to wake up.
She walked in and kindly said to Su Yuhe, "It's good that he's awake. By the way, the patient can't eat yet. The nurse will come to give him an IV after the doctor comes to check on him."
Su Yuhe smiled gratefully: "Okay, thank you nurse."
The nurse nodded, turned and left. Just after taking two steps, she reminded Su Yuhe: "Try to let him walk down to prevent intestinal adhesions and lower limb embolism, but don't walk too much."
Su Yuhe responded: "Okay."
Several people next door looked at Su Yuhe and the other person with strange eyes. They didn't know who they were. This nurse had no good attitude towards them at all, but gave Su Yuhe so many reminders.
Su Yuhe didn't take their gazes seriously, as long as they didn't make any noise and disturb Jiang Lin.
When Jiang Lin heard that he couldn't eat, he didn't dare tell Su Yuhe even though his stomach felt empty.
His brain wouldn't let him speak, but his body spoke for itself.
Jiang Lin's stomach suddenly growled twice.
Su Yuhe looked over and pursed her lips: "You haven't eaten anything since last night, and now that you've had surgery, you can't eat."
Jiang Lin raised the corner of his mouth and looked at Su Yuhe soothingly: "It's okay, go eat something first."
Su Yuhe hesitated a little: "I'll wait a little longer until the doctor finishes his rounds, in case my family members are not around and I can't find anyone if I need help."
Jiang Lin didn't say anything and held Su Yuhe's hand tightly.
"What time is it?"
Su Yuhe looked at her watch: "Seven twenty."
As the two were talking, Jiang Lin didn't know when Su Yuhe found him. Seeing that Su Yuhe's face was very haggard and there were dark circles under her eyes, it was estimated that she didn't get much rest all night.
He looked at Su Yuhe distressedly: "Thank you for your hard work."
"What nonsense are you talking about? I'm your wife. If I don't work hard, who else do you want to work hard for?"
Jiang Lin didn't say anything.
If Su Yuhe hadn't been quick-witted when she thought of looking for Jiang Lin, she would probably still be digging.
If she hadn't insisted, Jiang Lin would still be hanging on the tree all night. His spleen ruptured and he didn't receive surgery in time. Even if he was found the next day, he would have been dead.
Her heart ached and she held Jiang Lin's hand tightly.
Jiang Lin noticed her nervousness and took Su Yuhe's hand in his, rubbing her soft hand with his fingertips: "What's wrong?"
Su Yuhe shook her head and asked, "Tell me about what happened at that time."
Jiang Lin was silent for a moment, then said, "I don't remember clearly. I just remember someone asked me to go in and get something. Later, when I was about to leave, I found that they had already ignited the explosives."
"Lu Jianrong did it on purpose! When you get better, I'm going to give him a good beating and send him to jail. He committed murder on purpose!"
Jiang Lin's eyes flashed with a sharpness, and he said in a deep voice: "Let me do it, don't get involved."
Su Yuhe did not respond. No matter what Jiang Lin was going to do, she would not just stand idly by.
The hatred for Lu Jianrong never faded, but life was too comfortable and Lu Jianrong did not appear to be an eyesore, so Su Yuhe almost forgot about this person.
Now that he is here, it would be impossible for Su Yuhe to let him go.
Seeing that Su Yuhe didn't say anything, Jiang Lin knew that she was unhappy. He smiled helplessly and said, "Be obedient."
