Yi Yi breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against the bedding behind her. Although the bedding here wasn't as thick and warm as the one at home, it was still quite good for her current situation.
A few days ago, the temperature here plummeted at night, and she could only huddle up, warming herself with the thick layer of fallen leaves on the ground. However, most of those leaves were wet, making her feel even colder when they were on her.
So, at night, she basically had to sit up with her eyes open, and couldn't even dream of getting a good night's sleep.

Contentment brings happiness, and Yi felt quite satisfied. At least, she wouldn't have to freeze to death.
"So easy to deal with... Don't you want to escape now?"
The man stood blocking the doorway, watching her with a leisurely air.
Yi Yi felt that this man might not be as cold and ruthless as he appeared. Otherwise, he wouldn't have brought her to this room just because she was afraid of mice.
Upon hearing this, Yi sat up, stretched her legs out in front of her, and said with a worried expression, "Look at my two feet, tied together by these iron chains. Do you think I can escape? Although I'm not very smart, I still know my place."
The man remained noncommittal.
Even if she weren't wearing shackles, she still wouldn't be able to escape. Judging by her current contentment, she probably has no idea what awaits her next.

Most of the time, the words "pretty good" sound more like a perfunctory response, but when Yi Yi said them, they were full of sincerity. This was probably the first time he had been praised by someone back then, and he felt a strange, indescribable feeling rising from the bottom of his heart.
His gaze, which rarely lingered on her, softened considerably.
"So..." Yi Yi smiled slyly, "Is it possible that you, sir, will take pity on me and let me out?"
The man coldly withdrew his gaze, paused, and refused without hesitation, "No, there's no such possibility."
"I knew you'd say that." This answer was exactly what Yi Yi expected, but she was only joking. What she was thinking was something else entirely.
"It's fine if you won't let me out, but can I make a phone call? Just to call home..."

The man's face instantly turned cold, and the last trace of gentleness was quickly hidden beneath his sharp brows, making him look completely different from before.

I just thought he was quite humane, but his attitude changed in the blink of an eye.
