"squeak--"
The mouse squeaked and quickly ran away.
Yi Yi was still shaken, her small hands gripping the man's sleeve tightly. The man glared at her hatefully, his eyes flashing with murderous intent.
Although he didn't say a word, the murderous aura emanating from him made Yi Yi's hand tremble and he took a few steps back.
This man is terrifying!
His terror lies in his cold-blooded ruthlessness, like a dark lock, a cold brick, or a lifeless blade of grass in this dungeon.
Don't touch me!
The man spoke each word with such force, each syllable seemingly uttered with all his might. This warning sent a shiver down Yi Yi's spine.
"Ah, a mouse—another mouse!"
A dark, black rat crawled across Yi Yi's foot, and Yi Yi, who had been on edge the whole time, couldn't help but scream again.
She swore she didn't mean it; she doesn't usually scream unless she can't help it!
The man's face had darkened to the point of collapse, and he was on the verge of exploding.
Yi pointed cautiously to the ground, her voice trembling noticeably, "There are...there are rats."
The man gave her a look of utter contempt, then picked her up from the ground with obvious disgust, as if he were lifting a chick.
Yi Yi was shocked. Could this man be so petty as to not be able to tolerate her yelling a couple of times and want to do *that* to her?
"Hey, what are you doing? You're not going to secretly...kill me, are you? Is it really that serious? All I did was yell a couple of times, and you...you're going to do something like this. I'm...I'm a girl!"
Yi struggled and screamed.
“Right now, I am… I am a hostage. If you just kill me like this, your boss will come after you, and you won’t get a single penny… not a single penny… Hey, are you even listening to me… Even if you’re going to kill me, at least let me make a phone call home to say goodbye to my family… Hey…”
Yi Yi was so dizzy from being shaken that she was thrown to the ground in a daze... Hmm, this ground seems a little different from before. It's not wet and cold like before.
“Those of us in this line of work are the most rule-abiding. Besides, I’m not that petty.”
The man seemed quite displeased with her "misunderstanding".
Yi Yi felt a sense of relief and swallowed cautiously. Following the rules was fine; at least she wouldn't die for the time being.
Summoning her courage, Yi looked around. Hmm, this place... was just like the little house where she had been imprisoned before: four walls, a small window, and a heavy iron door. The difference was that this place seemed much cleaner than before; there were no damp fallen leaves on the ground, and the iron door looked freshly installed, without any dust.
There was even a single bed here. Although it was supposed to be a bunk bed, only the lower bunk was covered with bedding, and the bedding looked fairly clean.
Both are "prison cells," but these two places are so different!
Yi Yi quickly sat on the bed, gripping the iron railings tightly with both hands. Now that they'd brought her here, they weren't going to take her back.
The man seemed to understand her thoughts, his eyelids twitching a few times. He suddenly realized that this woman's mind was seriously at odds with her image. She appeared quite clever and quick-witted on the surface, but her brain was surprisingly stupid.
"Don't worry, you can stay here until you die."
