Chapter 38 Missing Mother

Xiao Yanbao's initiative in greeting them startled the two dark-skinned figures.

The one without a cloak clung to the one with a cloak like an octopus, looking terrified.

"Boss, she...she...she saw us again!"

[It seems this girl really is psychic! Ordinary mortals can't see us.]

The guy in the cloak remained relatively calm.

After all, seeing them is like seeing a ghost.

He was certain of his suspicion: this girl was no ordinary person; she might be the one he was looking for.

So... what do we do next?

[Get her! We absolutely cannot let that old bastard Ye Ming know about this girl, and we absolutely cannot let her become one of his people!]

The cloaked man pulled away the person clinging to him, and with a swift movement, seemed to float in front of Xiao Yanbao, revealing a kind smile: "Little girl, can you really see us?"

She could see the two very big uncles, of course.

Xiao Yanbao blinked, as if she understood something.

"If Uncle doesn't want Yan Yan to see, Yan Yan can pretend she can't see," she said in her childish voice, then sensibly closed her eyes.

“No need for that. You should open your eyes,” the cloaked man said.

Little Yanbao obediently opened her eyes, her gaze clear and pure, fixed on him without blinking.

The uncle was pitch black, and even up close, he was still pitch black. His face seemed to be covered by a cloud of black mist, and Xiao Yanbao couldn't see his features clearly.

That's a bit strange.

"Aren't you afraid when you see us?" the cloaked man asked tentatively.

Their clothing and overall appearance are different from those of normal humans.

Most people would find them strange.

However, he did not see a trace of fear in the little baby's eyes.

Little Yanbao shook her head: "Yanyan isn't afraid."

She's not afraid of anything!

These two strange uncles didn't do anything to hurt her, and although they were strangers, the little girl wasn't afraid.

She was more afraid of the people in the village where she grew up.

"If your uncle told you that your uncle is the Grim Reaper..."

The cloaked man paused, then moved a little closer to Xiao Yanbao, his low voice carrying a chilling undertone: "Aren't you afraid?"

"Death?" Xiao Yanbao asked, somewhat bewildered.

The cloaked man patiently explained, "He is the god who controls death."

Humans have always revered life and death, so he couldn't believe she wasn't afraid.

Xiao Yanbao's eyes lit up: "Does my mother's death fall under your jurisdiction, Uncle?"

The little girl immediately thought of her mother, who had just passed away. Although she now has new parents, she has always kept her mother in her heart, unable and unwilling to forget her.

"Hmm?" Death hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Hmm."

He looked at the tiny, skinny little girl in front of him with some surprise; she really wasn't afraid.

He truly is a once-in-a-century genius!

"Does Uncle know where my mother is now?" Xiao Yanbao asked excitedly.

A glint of light flashed in Death's eyes: "Do you want to see your mother?"

"Yes!" Xiao Yanbao nodded vigorously; she longed to see her mother.

If she could, she would still prefer to live with her mother and wouldn't want to be separated from her at all...

If you have desires and obsessions, then things are easier to handle.

Death began to coax him gently: "Would you like to make a deal with your uncle?"

Little Yanbao clenched her little hands and asked nervously, "If I make a deal with Uncle, will Yanyan be able to see Mommy?"

"Of course, Uncle is the Grim Reaper, in charge of all the dead. As long as I nod, you can see whoever you want." The Grim Reaper said this with great confidence and pride.

Xiao Yanbao became even more excited upon hearing this.

She quickly pressed on, "Then can Yan Yan see her father too?"

"Okay." At this moment, Death was like a child trafficker luring a child with candy: "As long as you agree to Uncle's conditions."

Little Yanbao, innocent and naive, nodded without hesitation: "Okay, Yanyan promises Uncle."

My mother always said, "Don't easily trust what strangers say."

But she really wanted to see her father and mother, and her grandparents...

She couldn't resist the temptation offered by Uncle Death.

"Good boy!" Death smiled with satisfaction, his voice growing distant. "Uncle will come to see you again in a few days."

The two dark-skinned uncles suddenly disappeared.

All that remained before Xiao Xinyan's eyes was a cloud of white mist. She stood there for a long time, but she neither saw the two dark-skinned uncles again nor saw the Dream Eater appear.

What she didn't know was that, because of Death's entry into her dream, the Dream Eater was temporarily unable to enter her dream again.

Little Yanbao woke up from his sleep and couldn't see anything.

She blinked, looking completely bewildered.

Uncle Death's words should stand the test of time...

At the hospital, Li Qirui had already arrived and replaced Liu Wanran and Zhong Jingyi, staying by Liang Xunling's side to take care of her.

According to Pei Yanchuan, Liang Xunling's condition is still very optimistic. She is lucky that the injuries she suffered have avoided fatal points.

Pei Yanchuan jokingly added: "Perhaps there is a lucky star protecting Liang Xunling in the dark."

Otherwise, given the horrific state she was in at the scene of the car accident, she would probably have been captured by the underworld's messengers long ago.

Because of those two dark-skinned uncles, Xiao Xinyan thought of her mother and couldn't help but take out her mother's photo to look at it.
