Chapter 47 Strange Powder
The sky was completely dark, and flying insects were circling around the lanterns under the eaves. It looked like it was going to rain again.
Cuiru entered the house carrying the lantern and quickly closed the door to prevent moths from coming in.
Jiang Rulin was taking off her earrings in front of the mirror. When she heard the voice, she turned around and asked, "Have you found out everything?"
Cui Ru nodded. "I found out. The Second Miss sent a visiting invitation to Princess Anping this afternoon. Princess Anping sent a message saying that the Second Miss should go there tomorrow."
Jiang Ruolin angrily threw the earrings into her dressing table.
"Miss, what should we do now?" Cuiru asked.
Jiang Rulin gritted her teeth. If Jiang Rufei could accomplish this, Princess Anping and the eldest princess would become Jiang Rufei's ironclad backers, and she would not let this happen at any cost.
"Go, call that useless thing Yunxiang here for me. It's time to use her."
After a long time, Yunxiang came in timidly and bowed to Jiang Rulin, "Third Miss."
"Why are you so late?" Jiang Rulin asked.
"I came here only after the young lady fell asleep." Yunxiang twisted the corner of her clothes with her fingers, not daring to look directly at Jiang Rulin.
"Yunxiang," Jiang Rulin stood up and helped her up, "I haven't seen you for a long time."
Yunxiang was flattered, "Third Miss."
Jiang Rulin pulled Yunxiang to sit on the embroidered cushion and asked, "Are you used to staying at my second sister's place these days?"
Yunxiang said truthfully, "The Second Young Lady doesn't trust me as much as before, but she hasn't treated me badly."
"That's good." Jiang Rulin said, "It's worth my heart to send you back."
Yunxiang suddenly looked up, "Miss Third means..."
Jiang Rulin sighed, "Silly girl, you've done so much for me, do you really think I'd be willing to kick you out? If I don't make up my mind, how could my second sister ever take you back? And how could you continue to help me?"
Yunxiang's eyes turned red when she heard this, and her voice choked with sobs, "Third Miss... This servant, I thought you really didn't want me anymore..."
"How could that be?" Jiang Rulin said softly, "Besides Cuiru, you are the person I trust the most. However, the current situation is urgent, so I have to ask you to stay with my second sister for a while longer."
Jiang Rulin said, taking out a silver ingot, "Take this silver."
"I dare not ask for it."
"Just take it if I tell you to." Jiang Rulin stuffed it into Yunxiang's hand.
Yunxiang accepted it flattered and whispered, "If the Third Miss has any instructions, I will do my best to carry them out."
Jiang Rulin smiled faintly, "You are sensible. My second sister is going to see Princess Anping tomorrow, but I don't really want her to go. You are so sensible, you can definitely help me share my worries."
Jiang Rulin glanced at Cuiru, and Cuiru immediately took out a yellow paper bag, which looked like it was some kind of medicine powder.
Yunxiang clenched her hands and dared not take it, "Third Miss, are you asking me to poison Second Miss?"
"How could I be so vicious?" Jiang Rulin said with a smile.
Although she really wanted to do so, it would not be so simple once human lives were involved. Moreover, Jiang Rufei was still useful to her. She had to wait for the old Taoist to come, so that she could have a smooth future.
"You just need to sprinkle this in the lotus pot in her yard so that she can't send lotus."
A moment later, Yunxiang returned to the west wing.
The lights in the house were out, only the corridor light was still on.
The lotus pot was placed at the foot of the steps in front of Jiang Rufei's door, and it was a good time to take action.
Yunxiang walked over and gently placed her hand on the edge of the jar, while the other hand holding the paper bag was trembling slightly.
After a while, Yunxiang's eyes turned fierce, and she slowly stretched out the hand holding the paper bag.
…
It rained last night, but the sky cleared up early in the morning.
Jiang Rulin got up very early.
She knew that Jiang Rufei was going to meet Princess Anping today and present the lotus she had requested. She had already arranged everything last night. The poor lotus must have withered, and Jiang Rufei must be extremely anxious.
How could she miss such a gratifying event?
After Jiang Rulin finished washing up and had breakfast, she left the yard.
Today was such a good day, so she dressed up specially and even put on her favorite hairpin.
As soon as I walked through the corridor leading to the garden, I saw the housekeeper Liu Chang leading someone hurriedly to Jiang Rufei's yard with an anxious look on his face. The person behind him was holding a medicine box in his hand.
Jiang Rulin covered her lips with a smile and whispered, "Stupid, you've been soaking it all night and didn't even have time to change the water. What's the point of calling a doctor?"
Cui Ru stood behind her and said with a smile, "Young lady, you still have a solution. I'm afraid the whole West Wing is in chaos. Oh, it's not just the West Wing. I'm afraid the old lady is also worried and angry."
"Grandma is really getting old and confused." Jiang Rulin's smile faded. "She can't even see who is related to her by blood, and yet she's helping an outsider."
Cui Ru quickly comforted her and fanned Jiang Rulin with a round fan, "Miss, don't be angry. Jiang Rufei's complacency won't last long."
Jiang Rulin snorted coldly and quickened her pace, "Let's go and see what's going on."
When Jiang Rulin arrived, several maids and old women had gathered outside the west wing, and even the old nanny from the old lady's courtyard had come. It seemed that they were really worried. After all, Lianhua was dead, and the Jiang family lost another powerful person to cling to.
"Madam Zhang." Jiang Rulin spoke.
Aunt Zhang turned around and said, "The Third Miss is here too."
Jiang Rulin asked knowingly, "Why is Mammy here?"
Nanny Zhang frowned, "The old lady is very anxious, so I am waiting for news here so that I can go back and tell her."
Jiang Rulin was feeling proud, but she couldn't show it on her face. She walked inside while talking, "Such a big scene, what on earth happened..."
The maids all made way to leave the path in the middle clear.
"...thing?" Jiang Rulin took a few steps and the expression on her face suddenly froze.
The lotus was still growing well in the pottery jar, and it grew even better after a night of rain. The green lotus leaves were swaying slightly in the wind with the remaining raindrops from last night.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. How could this be possible? Where was Yunxiang? How had she done this?
Since Lotus is fine, why are so many people gathered here?
"The Second Young Miss is ill," Nanny Zhang followed up and said, "She woke up with persistent abdominal pain this morning. The doctor has gone in to see her."
"Are you sick?" Jiang Rulin turned around. "Why did you suddenly get sick?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the maid came in with the old lady.
Nanny Zhang quickly stepped forward to take over. "Why are you here? It rained last night and the road hasn't dried up yet."
The old lady sighed, "I noticed you haven't come back for a while. How is Rufei?"
Aunt Zhang said, "I went in and saw the little boy before. His face was pale and his head was covered in sweat."
"How could you suddenly become so ill? I'll go in and take a look."
The old lady went into the house with Nanny Zhang, and Jiang Rulin hurriedly followed. She wanted to see what was going on.
How come Lianhua was safe and sound, but Jiang Rufei suddenly fell ill?
