Chapter 115 Han Chen’s Confession (3)

"Dad, Mom, will Han Zhiqing come to our house for dinner tonight?" After putting away her bicycle, Xuemei went to the kitchen and said to Liu's father and mother.

"Why didn't you tell me in advance, kid?" said Liu's mother.

"He was waiting for me on my way home today. He was going to give me an answer. Didn't you say you would invite him home for dinner and chat that day? By the way, why not invite him over for dinner today!" Xuemei explained.

"Okay, dad, go cut some bacon, Xuemei, go peel some asparagus and cook it later!" Liu's mother ordered.

Father Liu complained, "Just eat something while you're here. You're not a big shot!"

"You should cook delicious dishes to entertain guests when they come. Maybe he will be your son-in-law in the future. Go quickly!" Liu's mother urged.

When Mr. Liu heard this, he felt even worse. It was only after his mother patted him on the back that he started to move.

Boom boom boom…

Xuemei heard a knock on the door and knew it was Han Chen. She opened the door and asked, "Why are you here just now? The food is almost ready. Didn't I ask you to come earlier?"

Han Chen said with a bit of guilt: "Xuemei, I'm sorry, I went back to the Youth League Center to clean up!"

Xuemei then took a closer look at Han Chen and saw that he had changed his clothes. He was now wearing a white shirt, army green pants, and leather shoes. He had also styled his hair back in a slicked-back style. He looked even more handsome than when he first arrived, with a bit more fortitude and masculinity. His skin had also turned a tan. He was carrying something in each hand.

Xuemei said coquettishly, "Is it necessary to make such a big fuss? Changing clothes, getting a hairstyle, and getting things!"

Han Chen answered seriously: "Of course it is necessary. This is a courtesy and it cannot be charged!"

Although Xuemei said that, she was still very happy in her heart, which showed that Han Chen took her and his family seriously. Xuemei smiled and said, "Then come in!"

As soon as Han Chen came in, he handed the things in his hand to Liu's mother. They were half a pound of White Rabbit milk candy and a box of mung bean cakes that were left from the last trip to the county town; two bottles of canned oranges, one of which he got from Zhou Bing; he also exchanged two taels of malted milk from He Jing; a pack of cigarettes, which were two packs he bought in Beijing and one pack was left after he arrived in Liujia Village; he also went to Xuemei's great-grandfather's house to exchange two bottles of medicinal wine for Liu's father.

"You are such an honest kid. Bring so many things here! Dad, come and get them!" Mother Liu shouted to Father Liu next to her.

Father Liu glanced at Han Chen, snorted, took the things and went into the main room.

"Brother Han, why are you here?" Feifei asked in surprise.

"Come to our house for dinner. You and Ruirui go and help mom serve the dishes and get the bowls and chopsticks!" Xuemei replied.

Ruirui looked at Han Chen's dress as she passed by him and asked in confusion, "Han Zhiqing, you're just coming to our house for dinner, why are you dressing up so beautifully? You're not participating in a beauty pageant."

Xuemei glared at Ruirui and said, "You're the only one who talks too much. Why don't you go and help!"

"Xuemei, am I a little exaggerated today?" Han Chen asked, pulling Xuemei's sleeve.

"No, I think it looks pretty good!" Xuemei comforted.

"That's fine!" Han Chen finally felt relieved.

Liu's mother prepared a piece of bacon, a plate of stir-fried lettuce with chopped peppers, a plate of stir-fried peas, an egg and chopped green onion soup, and the staple food was corn porridge.

After dinner, Liu's father and mother sent Ruirui, Feifei and Xuemei to the kitchen to wash dishes, leaving Han Chen alone in the two trials.

When Liu's mother came to call Xuemei and the others, Liu's father and Han Chen in the main room had already started drinking with the peanuts distributed by Liu's mother.

As soon as Xuemei entered the main room, Han Chen hurriedly tried to hide the wine glass, while Liu's father watched the show on the side.

Han Chen asked anxiously, "Xuemei, can I have a few drinks with my uncle tonight?"

Father Liu interrupted, "You can't have a few drinks. You have to be drunk tonight! Otherwise, don't expect me to agree to it."

Han Chen looked at Liu's father, then at Xuemei, not daring to speak.

Xuemei finally came to the rescue, saying, "It's okay. Come drink with my dad! Dad, try to drink a little. Drinking too much is bad for your health!"

Liu's mother also said, "Dad, Xuemei is right. You should drink less. Han Chen has to go back to the Youth League Institute later!"

"It's okay. If he gets drunk, let Ruirui carry him back. He has to drink this wine today!" replied Liu's father.

Xuemei and Liu's mother looked at each other and decided not to persuade them anymore. They would feel uncomfortable once they got drunk.

Around ten o'clock, Liu's father failed to get Han Chen drunk, but he himself had passed out on the table. Xuemei and Liu's mother hurried to the kitchen to make some hangover soup for Liu's father to drink, and Xuemei forced Han Chen to drink a bowl as well.

"Xuemei, call Feifei, and you two siblings can take Han Chen back. Ruirui and I will clean up your father and put him to bed!"

Han Chen looked at Feifei walking ahead with a flashlight, and quietly approached Xuemei. He covered his mouth and said, "Xuemei, I'm so happy. Your father also agreed to let me be your partner. From now on, you are my partner!"

Xuemei looked at Han Chen's funny expression and asked, "Why are you covering your mouth while talking?"

"I drank some wine and it smells bad, you don't like it!" Han Chen explained, covering his mouth.

"Forget it today. From now on, you will be my partner. You can't drink every time someone calls you!" Xuemei said seriously.

"I understand, Xuemei, I will listen to you in the future!" Han Chen promised.

"How come you can drink so well? My dad was drunk, but you were fine!" Xuemei asked curiously.

"People in the north generally have a better alcohol tolerance, and I'm like my father, I can drink a lot!" Han Chen explained.

When they were almost at the educated youth institute, Han Chen asked Feifei and Xuemei to go to his room for a while because he had something to give to Xuemei.
