Chapter 17... Being too greedy is not good.

Chapter 17... Being too greedy is not good.

They've already exchanged flavors.

That's a very close relationship.

Just now, she really didn't react.

Jin Huan smiled sheepishly and offered him some of the cookies she had made that day.

Zhong Yan had just returned, still wearing his coat. He usually changes his clothes first, but Jin Huan pulled him over, and he followed her to the island counter, watching her take cookies out of a box for him.

She ate almost all of it herself, leaving only a tiny bit.

Jin Huan hadn't eaten many snacks for several days. The only time she ate something different was the milk tea she bought yesterday on her way back from school. She slurped it all the way home and finished it off.

They had a great time drinking.

She really liked the cookies this time; she believed in sharing things she liked with people she liked.

"It's not very sweet, but please try it." Jin Huan handed it to him.

Zhong Yan took the small cookies from her hand and ate them one by one.

Zhong Yan put it in his mouth.

It tasted rather bland, but seeing that she was enjoying it, Zhong Yan politely replied, "It's alright."

Jin Huan knew that Zhong Yan's reaction was unlikely to be good, but she wasn't a professional baker, so doing "okay" was already quite good. Jin Huan understood this and could completely comfort herself.

"What did you do this afternoon?" Zhong Yan poured himself a glass of water and noticed several new pieces of beautiful tableware in the kitchen, so he casually asked her.

"After you left, I took a nap. I wanted to continue reading, but my eyes hurt a little."

When he asked, Jin Huan answered in great detail, almost going into the details of what she was doing every hour. She was a little guilty about not continuing to read, so she quickly brushed it off with a single sentence.

Zhong Yan, of course, did not care about this.

Jin Huan continued.

"Some of the packages I ordered online arrived a couple of days ago. I went to pick them up, and there were tableware and some other small items. Then I baked some of these cookies." Jin Huan said, eating another one herself. She was genuinely happy with the cookies and quite satisfied with her first baking attempt.

Seeing that she was enjoying her food, Zhong Yan took another one as well.

It's very crispy when you bite into it, and it's definitely catered to his taste; it's not too sweet.

"Waiting for you to come back and kiss me."

She shifted her feet forward in her slippers. She had been thinking about this since she woke up this afternoon. Putting aside their sex life, they should at least kiss every day, right? Couples have good morning kisses, good night kisses, farewell kisses, and greeting kisses... They should have those too.

The thought of getting close to him makes me feel good. I was thinking about it as I walked around the house this afternoon, and I even considered which place in the house would be more suitable for kissing and which place would be more suitable for doing other things. And now, looking at him, I couldn't help but say it out loud.

Zhong Yan was surprised that she would say that.

It was both unexpected and not unexpected. She's always very brave when it comes to things she likes, so it seems... she really enjoys kissing him.

Being able to say what you want is a very good quality.

So Zhong Yan's eyes showed a hint of appreciation. When Jin Huan said she was waiting for him to kiss her, his first reaction was that she was right. He inwardly mocked himself for putting himself in her shoes.

Zhong Yan neither agreed nor refused. He asked, "Now?"

Jin Huan leaned forward again.

She was already very close to him, almost close enough to be in his arms. She looked up at him, her gaze slowly moving up from his Adam's apple to his chin, lips, and nose. After staring at him so directly for a moment, she said softly, "I like it like that, like... when you hold me on your lap..."

Jin Huan was too embarrassed to say it directly, as it was her first time experiencing that kind of thing. He lifted her up and pulled her into his arms, and she sat on his lap. She could completely entrust her weight to him with complete peace of mind. He held her in his arms, and she kissed him while hiding in his embrace. Her whole body was covered by his broad chest, and it was an unprecedented feeling of happiness.

Her desire to be close to him was written all over her face. Her eyes were fixed on him, conveying every meaning so directly, in a way that was uniquely hers—a seductive allure for a good boy. Zhong Yan's eyes inexplicably darkened.

My feelings of finding her incredibly adorable continue to deepen.

He responded in a deep voice, his words muffled in his throat. Jin Huan thought she hadn't heard him clearly, so she instinctively moved closer to listen. Before she could even move forward, his lips covered hers. He pulled her into his arms with one hand and gripped her chin with the other, suddenly deepening the kiss with a fierce intensity.

He pinched her chin with his fingers, forcing her to lift her head slightly. He gently kissed her lips a few times, then forced her to open her mouth with a little force. When she was short of breath, he forcefully took her breath away, completely controlling her breathing, so that she could only survive by following his breath and relying on the little oxygen that came from his lips.

Jin Huan's face quickly turned red, a physiological flush from holding it in. She clenched her fists and placed them on his waist. She didn't flinch, but let out two low sobs. The girl's low, suppressed voice was exceptionally pleasant to hear, like a kitten meowing softly after having its head rubbed.

Even her lips were slightly swollen from his kisses. When he stopped, she was suddenly able to breathe, still looking at him with a dazed and empty gaze, as if she still felt it wasn't enough.

Zhong Yan noticed her lips were very red. He stared at her intently and asked in a low voice, "You like it like this too?"

"I like it." Jin Huan nestled in his coat, completely enveloped by his clothes. It was cool outside but warm inside, entirely his body temperature.

She gasped for breath several times before she could speak, which made her seem very weak. After she finished speaking, she nodded hard to tell him that she really liked him.

I like it very much.

She rested her chin on his chest, looking at him pitifully. Beyond kissing, she greedily thought of more, and asked him, "Shall we continue tonight?"

Zhong Yan's voice held a hint of warmth, and whether he asked her intentionally or not, "Continue with what?"

What else could it be...?

Jin Huan said, "I also really liked last night's."

If it were possible to do it a few more times, it wouldn't be a bad thing. Although she had never experienced it before, she vaguely felt that one time would definitely not be enough for Mr. Zhong's size. But he was very good at controlling himself, and even though it was not soothed, he stopped.

Jin Huan felt that it was entirely possible to continue.

Not everything should be tolerated without limit; this is an exception.

Zhong Yan gently advised her, patiently explaining the situation to her: "Jin Huan, being too greedy is not good; your body can't handle it."

It means that tonight is not an option; her body needs rest.

Jin Huan opened her mouth, trying to refute this reasoning, but after stammering "but" for a long time, she couldn't say anything in the end. She could only look at him expectantly, hoping to get him to give in a little.

She muttered to herself, "It's not like I can't handle it..."

She was perfectly fine today, with only a slight discomfort, which was negligible.

But Zhong Yan's word was his bond, and he wouldn't back down on matters of principle. He still didn't agree, but just patted her head and told her he needed to change his clothes first.

He channeled his grief and anger into his appetite.

For dinner, Jin Huan ate a bowl of rice and a small portion of roast goose. The goose was really delicious. Jin Huan didn't like goose meat before, but after taking a bite, she couldn't stop. She ate more and more with the bowl of rice until she was worried about indigestion, and then she reluctantly put down her chopsticks.

A full belly makes it easier to sleep.

Jin Huan also highly recommended the roast goose to Zhong Yan, saying that it was not greasy at all and that Zhong Yan would definitely like it.

On her recommendation, Zhong Yan ate an extra half bowl of rice every night.

He hadn't originally planned to eat any staple food tonight.

So tonight is very quiet.

Without the uncontrollable, sticky sounds of girls, there's no need to lower the room temperature due to rising body temperature, and especially those blush-inducing water sounds—water so abundant it could wrinkle the skin—no longer forms a small stream on the sheets.

Zhong Yan was wearing black pajamas with a slightly low neckline. Even with all the buttons fastened, his chest was exposed, revealing a small tooth mark on his chest.

Zhong Yan didn't seem to care much about the tooth mark.

He was looking at documents, while Jin Huan was lying on the other side of the bed scrolling through her phone. The group chat started again, and they talked about the cookies Jin Huan made today, saying that they asked her to make some to bring over for everyone to try when school starts next semester.

It was a winter break with only a few days off, and the tasks were heavy. Some people in the group went home for the Chinese New Year, while others went on trips. Only Du Qingxu was still at school at this time.

He rarely participates in the group chats, partly due to his personality, but mostly because he doesn't have time to chat.

His life is very busy, even as the year draws to a close.

His mother frequently needed to be hospitalized, and he himself had some minor health issues, causing him to become increasingly thin no matter how much he ate.

Jin Huan chatted with everyone for a bit, and just as she was about to leave, she suddenly received a message from Du Qingxu.

I initially thought it was about a research project, but when I clicked on it, I found that his first sentence was praising her for making beautiful cookies.

Du Qingxu almost never chatted about these things with people. Jin Huan was surprised when she saw the message, and then she replied, "It's my first time making it, but it's quite delicious."

Du Qingxu: "Then you have a lot of talent; it looks delicious."

Jin Huan became very enthusiastic when she heard such praise. She thought that Du Qingxu asked her this because he liked cookies, so she told him that she would make some more for him to bring over when school started. This wouldn't take much time, and she could make more so that everyone could try them.

Du Qingxu replied to messages a little slowly, with the chat box always displaying "Typing..." Jin Huan wondered if he had a lot to say, but he simply replied with two words: "Okay."

The topic seemed to end quickly there, but Du Qingxu brought it up again, saying that if Jin Huan encountered any difficulties, she could come to him anytime, and he would try his best to help her.

As classmates in the same research group, Du Qingxu was already so busy, yet she still offered to help her when she had time. It was truly a great friendship. In the past, Jin Huan would have agreed immediately, but now she quickly declined.

Jin Huan: "No need, I have family members who can help me."

It's definitely better to trouble your own family than to trouble outsiders. After all, if you trouble others, you have to think about how to repay the favor and whether you should help them back in the future. But you don't have to trouble Mr. Zhong.

Thinking about this made Jin Huan's previously depressed mood improve.

She kept laughing at her phone while chatting, and Zhong Yan noticed. He turned to look at her and asked, "What are you chatting about that's making you so happy?"

“He’s a classmate from my research group. He said he wanted to help me.” Zhong Yan asked her, and Jin Huan answered honestly. She never hid anything from Mr. Zhong, but it was true, she didn’t have any secrets.

Zhong Yan wasn't interested at first, but after hearing her talk about it, he thought back for a moment. He knew all the classmates in Jin Huan's research group, and he was certain that one of them was very outstanding, someone that Zhong Yan also acknowledged as outstanding.

Zhong Yan could tell from the last time he saw Jin Huan off at the school gate that he was probably struggling financially. As a result, even though he was excellent, he lacked confidence. Some children from certain families are like that; even if they are very talented and gifted, they cannot pursue further education and are trapped by life. This made Zhong Yan feel sorry for him.

Jin Huan was still talking about her conversations with Du Qingxu, which were so simple that they could be finished in a few sentences. However, Jin Huan also told Zhong Yan that Du Qingxu would never talk to her about these things before.

Then they talked about when they first met.

She thought she had done something wrong and apologized to him for that.

Jin Huan chatted with Zhong Yan about these trivial matters, and only after she finished did she realize what she had said, letting out a soft "Ah," and asking, "Did I disturb you?"

He's talking a lot of nonsense.

Zhong Yan: "It was time to go to sleep anyway."

No one had ever talked to him so much before, even when he was sleeping. The girl's voice was soft, and her face was gentle. She could talk about anyone without making people feel uncomfortable, and everyone was willing to listen to her.

Zhong Yan did not think this was a bad thing.

On the contrary, he was quite willing to listen.

"So you're good friends now?" Zhong Yan asked.

"Yes," Jin Huan nodded, "It's all thanks to him."

Zhong Yan said calmly, "Then it seems I really should treat him to a meal next time."

"No need," Jin Huan said. "I'll treat you, no need to trouble yourself."

She still owes them a meal, so she definitely has to treat them.

Jin Huan was lying in bed with her phone still lit up. He looked at her and said, "I think I would be even happier if you were willing to trouble me."

He is older than her and has more experience; being troubled is one of his uses.

Jin Huan obediently agreed, "I understand."

Zhong Yan pulled the blanket up for her and whispered to her not to sleep too close to the edge, lest she fall off during the night.

She always liked to sleep in the corner, which was related to her lack of security when she first arrived here. Zhong Yan didn't force her to do this, giving her enough space to adapt on her own.

Now, Jin Huan listened to him and winked at him: "How can it not fall?"

Whether she was doing it on purpose or genuinely curious, she tensed up after asking the question, her eyes darting around unnaturally, and even her breathing quickening.

Zhong Yan sighed softly, reached out and pulled her into his arms, turning to embrace her.

He agreed to everything except the matters of principle.

Zhong Yan wrapped his arms around her, and the girl's petite figure easily nestled into his embrace.

"Just say so next time you want a hug."
