Chapter 33

The next morning, Shi Jin was awakened by a scream.

He was lying in bed, his chaotic brain throbbing with pain from being suddenly woken up.

After sitting for a few seconds and waiting for the dizziness to subside, Shi Jin lifted the quilt and stood up.

I don't know when the air conditioner in the room was turned off. The little cool air in the middle of the night had long dissipated, and the room was filled with a stuffy atmosphere.

Shi Jin opened the window, and fresh air rushed in impatiently.

Outside the window is the Lin family's garden, with flowers of various colors blooming and a faint floral fragrance in the air.

He looked downstairs. The big black dog in front of the doghouse had disappeared. A wild cat was squatting in front of the dog bowl, eating dog food voraciously.

Shi Jin withdrew his gaze, changed his clothes and went out.

The sound came from the study on the second floor. When Shi Jin opened the door, he saw a group of people gathered in front of the study.

Shi Jin originally thought that he would be the last one to arrive, but when he looked around, he found that Yu Ci and Butler Chen were not there.

The one who just screamed was Doctor Zhao. Her face was pale and she was leaning weakly on the railing. Singer Yang was supporting her.

Shi Jin looked away and saw bloodstains on the ground through the gap in the crowd.

His brows knitted together, his eyes moved upwards, and fixed on the closed study door: "Why isn't the door open?"

Cheng's son was standing aside. Hearing this, he glanced at Shi Jin with an unpleasant expression on his face: "The door of the study is locked."

Wan Baojie followed behind him and poked his head out from behind him in a panic: "What's wrong? What happened?"

As she spoke, her eyes moved downwards, and the next second.

"ah--"

The loud soprano voice sounded again in the villa.

Cheng's son reached out and scratched his ears, his expression becoming even uglier: "Okay, stop shouting."

"Isn't it just a little blood?" He shouted impatiently, "We don't even know what's going on inside, why are you screaming like someone's dead?"

Wan Baojie covered his chest and breathed heavily, his face pale: "This, this is not just a drop of blood."

She glanced at the ground tremblingly, then quickly looked away, her voice trembling: "With this amount of blood, I'm afraid all the blood in the body has been drained."

Yang Ge, who was standing by, glanced at the stairs and said anxiously, "Butler Chen, why is it taking you so long to get a key?"

Doctor Zhao calmed down, with tears still in the corners of his eyes from the shock he had just caused. He spoke for Butler Chen in a low voice: "Maybe Butler Chen was also frightened and couldn't find the key all of a sudden."

Cheng's son sent away the other servants in the villa, walked around in a restless manner for a few times, and suddenly remembered something: "Where is that woman? Why didn't she come downstairs?"

Shi Jin found a corner and stood there with his arms crossed in front of him. Hearing this, he looked up at Cheng's son and said nothing.

There was a sound of slow and leisurely footsteps coming from the stairs at the end of the corridor, revealing a sense of laziness.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a tall figure turning out from the stairs.

The man at the stairs was wearing a simple black sportswear. The lazy and casual combination could not hide the sharpness and flamboyance that emanated from him.

The smooth jawline is sharp and prominent, the sparkling peach blossom eyes glance lazily, and the curve of the lips seems to be a smile.

As if he noticed everyone's staring at him, he shifted his gaze over here, his eyebrows slightly raised, and finally fell on Shi Jin who was standing in the corner, his eyes also tinged with an intriguing meaning: "Waiting for me?"

Cheng Ke's eyes suddenly turned cold.

He recognized that this man was the one who went to the pet shop with Brother Shi last time.

He loosened his clenched fists, stood in front of Shi Jin, and used his body to block the man's sight: "Uncle, what do you mean?"

His vision was suddenly blocked. Yu Ci raised his eyebrows and looked at Cheng Ke for the first time: "Uncle?"

This name reminded him of a certain unpleasant boy.

When his eyes fell on the boy's fair and tender face, Yu Ci slightly lowered his eyebrows and made a "tsk" sound.

It was indeed him.

Yu Ci had no patience to deal with this kind of impolite little brat.

His eyes moved down to the badge on the boy's chest, his eyebrows raised, as if smiling: "...Cheng's son?"

"Son, why don't you call me when you see me?" Yu Ci raised his right hand, lightly tapped the ID card on his chest with his fingertips, and said lazily: "Hey, I'm your mother."

Cheng Ke gritted his teeth and stared at him coldly.

Doctor Zhao noticed something was wrong and dragged his still weak body out to smooth things over: "Butler Chen is back. Let's make way and let Butler Chen open the door."

The two men didn't move.

Butler Chen was stuck at the back and looked at the director's position with some confusion.

Zhong Sisi was cracking melon seeds enthusiastically. After being urged by the director several times, she reluctantly put down the seeds. Taking advantage of the blind spot that the camera could not capture, she walked to the opposite side of Yu Ci and gave him a fierce look.

Yu Ci glanced at her indifferently without responding.

Zhong Sisi gritted her teeth, looking aggrieved.

Should I say he really is worthy of being her cousin?

If you can’t persuade this one, persuade another.

Cheng Ke looks well behaved, so he should be obedient, right?

Thinking of this, Zhong Sisi decisively changed her target and moved to the opposite side of Cheng Ke, giving him a fierce look.

But her eyes were about to twitch, but the fair-skinned, chubby-faced boy opposite her seemed not to notice her expression. He still stood there with an angry look on his face, not moving an inch.

Zhong Sisi was almost crying. She looked away with a bitter face, and her eyes inadvertently met Shi Jin behind Cheng Ke.

She was stunned for a moment, and her right eye, which had become a conditioned reflex, blinked subconsciously.

Shi Jin paused, looked away, and said, "Make way and let Butler Chen come over."

Cheng Ke took the lead and stepped back, glaring at Yu Ci fiercely, but he said to Butler Chen: "Butler Chen, come and open the door."

Yu Ci raised his eyebrows and walked towards Shi Jin with a nonchalant step.

Butler Chen hurried behind him: "Here are the keys. I'll open the door."

The people in front of the study quickly made way for them. Without the obstruction of their shadows, the bloodstains on the carpet became more obvious.

The wool carpet absorbed a large amount of blood, but there were still puddles of blood outside the door. The dried black blood and the flowing red blood intertwined, outlining a creepy picture on the carpet.

Butler Chen inserted the key into the keyhole with trembling hands.

Shi Jin was standing beside Yu Ci. Seeing this, he tilted his head, and his snow-white neck appeared ivory-white under the light above his head.

Yu Ci noticed his reaction and lowered his head slightly: "Are you afraid of blood?"

"No." Shi Jin took a breath and turned his head back: "The smell of blood is too strong, I'm a little uncomfortable."

"Hmm." A mint candy in a light blue package was handed to Shi Jin, who was slightly stunned.

Yu Ci touched his nose uncomfortably and looked away: "...I took it from your pocket last night."

"Don't misunderstand me." He was a little embarrassed, but he had to explain, so he whispered: "When I hugged you last night, I put my hand in my pocket and thought it was my pocket."

After he took out the candy, he realized he didn't have any candy in his pocket.

But the candy had already been taken out, and it wouldn't be appropriate to put it back or say anything directly, so he just put the candy back into his pajamas.

Shi Jin lowered his eyes and took the candy from Yu Ci's palm: "Thank you."

"Don't be polite, we're roommates." Yu Ci raised his eyebrows and stretched out his long arms to put them on his shoulders, but paused slightly when his palm was about to touch Shi Jin.

At the airport, the image of a cold beauty in a black dress with sparse eyebrows and eyes flashed through my mind.

Yu Ci's fingertips moved, and he retracted his hand. He turned his head and cleared his throat: "Anyway, this candy is yours."

There was a burst of noise from the front.

Shi Jin raised his eyes and met Yu Ci's gaze.

The door of the study opened.

As soon as the carved mahogany door was opened, the pungent smell of blood hit me in the face, and the strong smell of rust filled the space in front of the study, highlighting the tragic situation inside the study.

Corresponding to the smell of blood was the blood splattered all over the study.

The tables, chairs, window curtains, and white walls were all splattered with blood, and even the snow-white ceiling was stained with droplet-shaped sprays of blood.

The blood was all over the ground, and all that came into view was the glaring red.

If you didn't see it with your own eyes, it would be hard to imagine that so much blood could flow out of a person's body.

Shi Jin was the last one to walk into the study. His eyes briefly swept across the scene inside the study, and finally stopped at the source of the blood.

When his eyes fell on the person sitting on the chair, his expression changed slightly.

Surprisingly, the deceased was not Lin Fuhao.

The corpse slumped in the chair with her head bowed was a female. She seemed to be wearing a light blue dress, but it was now soaked in blood.

The dried blood stuck to the hem of the skirt, fixing the soft fabric into a stiff shape, and the light-colored fabric was also dyed dark blue by the blood.

The deceased's body was covered with scars. In places not covered by clothes, there were dense knife marks. There was almost no intact area.

Not far from the corpse, a palm-long dagger was thrown on the ground. The bloodstains on the dagger undoubtedly revealed the crime that occurred in the study last night.

In the silence, Dr. Zhao was the first to speak: "Call the police."

"......Okay." Wan Baojie dialed the number with trembling hands. When she learned that the police would be here soon, she breathed a sigh of relief and slumped against the only wall that was not stained with blood: "Who is so cruel?"

Butler Chen stood aside in silence.

Cheng's son was much calmer. He frowned and looked at the body on the chair, then walked around the empty study room: "Who is this woman? Why did she die here?"

"And," Cheng's son stopped in front of the only cabinet in the study that could hide a person, opened the door, looked at the empty cabinet, and asked a question that weighed on everyone's mind: "Where's my dad?"

Yang Ge seemed a little absent-minded. He had been looking outside the door frequently since he entered. Hearing this, he turned back impatiently: "Why do you care where your dad went? If nothing happened to him, then -"

Yang Ge's words suddenly stopped, his eyes fixed on the right wrist of the female corpse on the chair, his eyes suddenly widened.
