Chapter 109 Pit

Flander's eyes were fixed on Duanmu Ci, eager to know how Duanmu Ci would respond.

This is a really critical problem!

When they acquired TheMagniient, they thought they had acquired a treasure. However, through this experience, they discovered that the sword was too sharp, and without the protection of a scabbard, it was easy to injure themselves.

Duanmu Ci single-handedly instigated the strike, launching a 360-degree, all-around attack on the Morgan family, almost completely stunning Flander. He found it hard to imagine what he should do if his family were to have another conflict with the Duanmu family in the future, or if the Duanmu family wanted to use this to threaten him. How should he deal with it to avoid falling into the same trap a second time?

But Flander, in his despair, realized that this was fundamentally unsolvable; the Duanmu family could act whenever they wanted. In other words, they possessed the ability to thrust the Morgan family into the center of public attention and the eye of the storm at any time. While the feeling of being in the spotlight was exhilarating, Flander did not desire such public scrutiny…

Duanmu Ci said sincerely, "The Duanmu family will never initiate a war; this is merely a counterattack. However, your Morgan family is certainly free to attack at any time, but the outcome will be up to us. As long as you don't provoke me, I absolutely will not provoke you! I swear to God!"

Duanmu Ci made the sign of the cross on his chest with a holy expression.

"I..." Flander wanted to curse. "Screw you!" He had never heard of anyone in the Duanmu family believing in God. How convincing could a person with black eyes and black hair claim to be a Christian?

"Yes. What should we do then?" Duanmu Ci asked without hesitation, then suggested, "How about we sign an agreement that my Duanmu family will never resort to such methods unless absolutely necessary!"

Flanders still wanted to curse. An agreement? What use was an agreement? Just a piece of paper! Not even as durable as a gold coin! Didn't the British sign an agreement with the Germans back then? And what happened? Was the Blitz of London fake? Were the British soldiers stationed in Berlin fake? Agreements like this have absolutely no binding force!

Moreover, what does "absolutely not an option" even mean? How is the concept of "absolutely not an option" defined? Who knows where your bottom line is! Or perhaps this guy doesn't even have a bottom line!

Flanders grew increasingly agitated and grabbed a glass, taking a large gulp of whiskey.

Seeing him tormenting himself like this, Duanmu Ci felt a little sorry for him, so he "kindly" suggested, "If all else fails, just give me back themagniient. You'll lose a source of trouble, and I'll gain a business deal. It's a win-win situation, Mr. Flander!"

“No!” Flander refused outright. “The Morgan family is already in such a state; if we do this, we’ll become a complete laughingstock! No, absolutely not!”

Duanmu Ci really wanted to say that they were already a laughing stock, but doing so would obviously anger the man in front of him who was clearly irrational, which would not be conducive to negotiations. So he suppressed his desire to speak his mind and said sincerely, "We can resolve this privately. We won't publicize it to the outside world, and nominally you will still be the owners of themagniient. Wouldn't that solve both of our problems?"

That seems... to make sense. Flanders thought to himself.

Duanmu Ci pressed his advantage, saying, "Themagniient is now completely useless to you. Not only useless, it's a ticking time bomb! You're on edge at the slightest sign of trouble. You can't live like this. If you're willing to secretly return it to me, my Duanmu family can offer you some compensation."

Compensation... well, it's just giving Morgan a way out.

As expected. Flander's expression softened upon hearing those two words, and he asked, "What compensation can you offer?"

Duanmu Ci laughed and said, "The reason we have this dispute is because I stole your business, right? How about this, when I go back, I'll move my securities company from the United States to London to make way for you. How about that? Isn't that sincere enough?"

Duanmu Ci actually meant that he would still continue his business, just relocate the company, not cede the American market. However, this statement was somewhat ambiguous, and if Flander misunderstood anything, he wouldn't be blamed...

Flanders had indeed misunderstood. He quickly weighed the pros and cons in his mind, and then readily agreed, "No problem!"

Duanmu Ci was somewhat puzzled. Could it be that this guy hadn't even seen through such a simple word game? He had been prepared to argue back, but he hadn't expected that this man would step into the trap without even a second thought, without the slightest hesitation. His step was decisive, courageous, and precise to the extreme. Anyone who tried to pull him away would be met with his wrath...

Indeed, the superiority of Chinese education is unmatched by English education; after all, it is profound and extensive...

The matter has reached a point where it's best to leave it at that; there's no point in dragging it out any longer. In reality, neither of them can afford to drag it out. Flander is a given, and even Duanmu Ci doesn't dare to hold out any longer. Every day Themagniient closes, it's a day of loss, and even if it's not his money that's being lost, it's still unbearable in the long run!

The reason he rushed to the door today to take the initiative to negotiate was because he was afraid that Morgan might suddenly become stubborn or procrastinate and be unwilling to admit his pride, thus inexplicably dragging out the process, and then inexplicably killing the Duanmu family, and then inexplicably winning the victory...
