Duanmu Ci was once revered by countless people.
After Confucius' death, some officials in the State of Lu claimed to be "more virtuous than Confucius," and quite a few people held this view, which he refuted many times. In later generations, after the Spring and Autumn period, he was listed as one of the "Ten Philosophers of Confucius," receiving numerous posthumous titles throughout history. In the 27th year of the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty, he was posthumously granted the title of "Marquis of Li," and in the 2nd year of the Dazhong Xiangfu era of the Song Dynasty, he was further granted the title of "Duke of Li." In the 9th year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty, his title was changed to "Sage Zigong." The praise he received from scholars throughout history is countless!
So he was indeed a wise man, a very wise man.
The problem is, he has never been called "wise" from this perspective, which is quite interesting.
Duanmu Ci smiled and said, "You mean, I should take your place and dance with Teacher Su?"
“That’s right!” Chu Guang said confidently, “Your combination with Teacher Su is sure to be a hit!”
I'm not trying to debut... what's the point of becoming famous...?
Yun Yun enthusiastically supported the suggestion, "Yes, yes, that's a great idea! Chu Guang, you're very good, I'll give you a promotion and a raise right away!"
Just like you paid me a salary... Promotion? Do you want me to replace you as department head? Chu Guang silently complained in his heart.
Su Wuyu remained silent.
"That's settled then." Duanmu Ci clapped his hands, signaling everyone to continue.
Su Wuyu lowered her head, then suddenly blushed, like a plum blossom suddenly blooming on the white snow, bright and beautiful, but unfortunately no one could see it.
Music begins, dance begins.
Duanmu Ci and Su Wuyu gazed at each other from afar, then approached each other step by step with dance steps, as if they were meeting for the first time.
"What a perfect couple!" Chu Guang exclaimed.
Later that evening, Bu Tongxun called to say that one of the masks was ready, and Duanmu Ci had asked her to send someone to deliver it to the school, directly by car, and he would meet the person at the gate. Then he called the security office and asked them to let the car through, otherwise it wouldn't be allowed in.
Duanmu Ci was surprised that Bu Tongxun had personally delivered the clothes. But that wasn't the point. He paused, letting everyone choose their own size and change. There were many empty rooms in the Duanmu Pavilion; they simply found two to use as changing rooms. Duanmu Ci didn't need his clothes custom-made. He already had suitable ones; he could just have Bu Tongxun bring them over.
The dance costumes were all white, with wide robes and sleeves that hung almost half a foot off the ground, giving them a rather elegant look. After all, they were performing a story from the Moon Palace. Duanmu Ci couldn't think of any more suitable color than white. Besides, he really didn't want to use the sleeveless, narrow style of Dunhuang dance; it was simply tasteless and lacked the graceful elegance of Hanfu.
Duanmu Ci's equipment was a bit different from others. In addition to a set of clothes, he also had a wig. After all, without a hat, wearing this ancient Hanfu would look very strange. This is probably one of the reasons why Hanfu cannot be popular in modern times. After all, it is no longer the era of "our bodies, hair and skin are given to us by our parents, and we dare not damage them".
After changing into their clothes, everyone was pleasantly surprised by the stunning effect. The people Duanmu Ci had chosen were already very attractive, easily turning heads on the street compared to the average pretty girl. Now, dressed in these clothes, they were even more extraordinary. Hanfu emphasizes elegance and poise, so the added effect was obvious.
The girls were very confident, feeling that their current look was enough to "destroy the country and the people." However, their confidence did not last long. After Su Wuyu came out dressed, the girls fell silent, and the Duanmu Pavilion was quiet.
It's absolutely gorgeous!
Su Wuyu already possessed an icy demeanor. Coupled with her snow-white feather robe, she was simply... if she were to hold a jade rabbit in her arms, she would be no different from a fairy from the moon palace!
Bu Tongxun frowned. Does the master usually dance with this woman? That's a bit dangerous...
Chu Guang's gaze dimmed slightly. "A woman of this caliber is simply too much for me to handle! Dancing with her would be suicide." As a handsome man, Chu Guang naturally had his own dignity, which was to resolutely refuse to be a supporting character! But given the current situation, if he really recklessly danced with Su Wuyu, he wouldn't even be a supporting character; he'd be instantly annihilated!
He then became gloating, because Teacher Duanmu...
Tsk tsk. That's terrible.
Duanmu Ci was having a bit of a problem: the wig was uncomfortable to wear. Back in his day, he never needed to wear something like this! He'd had waist-length hair for most of his life! But there was nothing he could do about it; times had changed…
Then, when Duanmu Ci appeared before everyone, no one wanted to speak, because that would interrupt their admiration for their handsome man. He was so handsome, he was truly irresistible to men, women, young and old!
Generally speaking, when watching period dramas, it's difficult for viewers to connect with the actors in period costumes because they're just wearing period clothes; their every move is still very much like modern people. Only a very few actors with superb acting skills are an exception.
But the man before him was different; he seemed to have been born from ancient times. A snow-white robe draped over him, making him appear exceptionally handsome and elegant, tall and graceful. A white jade hairpin adorned his hair, further enhancing his refined and dashing appearance. It turns out that not only can beautiful women bring ruin to a nation, but handsome men can also bewitch the people!
Chu Guang murmured, "I really want to give it to him..."
Bu Tongxun's eyes also flickered. She had never seen her master in ancient costume before, and she never expected him to be so handsome. How could anyone bear to let go of such a man? She would rather die than let him go!
Su Wuyu and Yun Yun were also dumbfounded. They originally thought that the teacher was handsome enough, but now they realized that he was not the most handsome yet. He could reach new heights just by standing on his tiptoes.
As for the other girls... Duanmu Ci will probably appear in many people's dreams tonight, doing some unspeakable things...
Duanmu Ci was also very happy. He hadn't dressed like this in a long time. This was his clothes, his favorite clothes! Heaven knows how desolate he felt when he first wore those modern clothes. A disciple of a sage, a nobleman of China, wearing a left-fastening robe! As for shaking hands? What was that? A barbarian custom?
He smiled and bowed to the people in front of him, saying, "Gentlemen, I pay my respects." As he bowed, his sleeves slowly unfurled and then closed at his fingertips, fluttering gracefully like a phoenix spreading its wings.
This gesture was extremely stunning and graceful, a model of excellence, far superior to the messy and flawed etiquette seen on television! But this is understandable, considering that Duanmu Ci's teacher is known for his "obsessive-compulsive disorder" regarding etiquette!
After reading it, Chu Guang became even more certain and said, "I really want to send him razor blades!" (To be continued...)
