Chapter 24 A cowardly surname

Orseja is a long-standing surname, said to originate from the Spanish Habsburg dynasty, whose valiant ancestors followed the Duke of Wellington of London in defeating the invincible Napoleon.

Unfortunately, the current Orsia family only inherited their ancestral bloodline, but not their valor. During World War II, Nazi Germany occupied all of Greece, and the Orsia family, as Greek nobles, secretly surrendered to Hitler, forcing the Greek royal family into exile. Therefore, the Orsia family, which was incredibly noble in the eyes of the Tang family, was merely a cowardly surname in Duanmu Ci's mind.

However, as a guest, Duanmu Ci couldn't say anything. He just sat there quietly, drinking the red wine in his glass, a 1995 Lafite, which tasted very good.

In fact, Duanmu Ci prefers drinking tea.

A short while later, Tang Jingchang brought in a young Westerner with long, thin, curly blond hair like a rock 'n' roll youth, a sculpted face, and deep blue eyes, all of which reflected his noble European lineage.

But beneath that handsome face lies a heart overflowing with filth.

Nordin Orthea, a disgrace to European high society.

Tang Jingchang proudly invited this distinguished guest to the stage to speak. Before doing so, he stood in front of the microphone and introduced the guest to the distinguished guests present, "This is the heir of Baron Orseia of Greece. Let's give him a round of applause!"

The guests applauded enthusiastically.

Nordin gracefully stepped onto the stage, bowed slightly in greeting, and began to speak. However, most of the guests below the stage were completely bewildered, their faces blank, and they couldn't understand what this foreigner was saying at all.

Duanmu Ci, the only one in the room who could understand Greek, secretly sneered. The nobleman who was speaking on the stage was notoriously ignorant and incompetent. As a descendant of nobility, not to mention Latin, he didn't even know English or French. What could he possibly say?

After Nordin Orseya finished speaking, his entourage immediately went on stage to translate, “His esteemed Baron Heir said: I was honored to receive a kind invitation from a friend from the East a few days ago to attend his father’s birthday banquet. On behalf of the Orseya family, I would like to extend my sincerest respect and blessings to this esteemed elder.”

This time they understood, and the guests applauded. Tang Rui and his son stood to the side with smiles on their faces, feeling honored.

Tang Jingchang led Notting Orseya to his seat, which was, of course, the "first seat in the first row," the best seat.

Nordin sat down casually, and when he looked up, he saw Duanmu Ci and was immediately surprised. "Ci! What are you doing here?" He said this in Greek, which only Duanmu Ci could understand.

It seems this Greek man knows Duanmu Ci, and their connection goes back quite a bit...

Duanmu Ci replied in Greek, "I recall that at Prince Harry's yacht banquet three years ago, Your Excellency seemed to owe me a Hanoverian horse. Although it is a valuable and precious breed, Your Excellency, as a nobleman, would not risk your family's honor by being stingy with gold coins, would you?"

Three years ago, Mu Ci was invited to attend Prince Harry's yacht party in the UK, where he met Notting on the yacht. Under the influence of champagne, the two made a bet, with the stake being a Hanoverian horse from Germany. Of course, Notting lost.

Horse racing is a sport for the aristocracy; the price of a top-quality purebred horse can almost buy a limited-edition luxury sports car. How could Notting, whose family had fallen on hard times, afford such a large sum? So, it was only natural that he defaulted on his debt. The matter should have ended there, but unexpectedly, he ran into his creditor here again today.

No matter how shameless Notting is, he'll feel embarrassed in front of his creditors, especially since this creditor is someone he absolutely can't afford to offend...

Nordin forced a smile and said, "Of course, I swear by the noble name of Orsia, I will never renege on my promise, and I will protect my honor as a nobleman with my life."

They said nice things, but they still didn't mention the matter of repaying the debt... Duanmu Ci secretly curled his lip.

The two men chattered away in Greek for a long time. Although the others couldn't understand them, their ability to read between the lines was exceptional. By comparing their expressions, they easily concluded that Duanmu Ci was in control, while the so-called baron's heir was being ruthlessly suppressed.

This greatly shocked everyone present! European nobles were basically unattainable figures in their eyes, but now they were being suppressed by a yellow man right under their noses. How could they not be shocked? They became increasingly curious about Duanmu Ci's identity.

A person who knows European nobles and can easily subdue them cannot be an ordinary person! This seemingly obvious conclusion was in the minds of everyone present.

Tang Yijin's feelings were different. He originally thought he had thought highly of the Duanmu family, but he did not expect that the family was even more powerful than he had imagined!

I initially thought that a Chinese family's influence in the Western world would be limited, and they wouldn't be very wealthy. Although mysterious, they might not have much power. But now it seems my judgment was wrong. Perhaps Westerners understand this mysterious family better than I do.

Tang Rui and his son, however, had a different feeling. They originally thought that bringing in a Western nobleman would be a great honor, enough to overshadow Tang Tingshu's side. But they never expected things to turn out this way! If things continue like this, they'll be lucky if they don't lose face, let alone gain any!

As for the feelings of Tang Ke and his son, there's no need to elaborate; they were overjoyed. Initially, seeing this baron's heir's glamorous entrance, they were worried he might be some kind of monster, but it turned out he was just a wild little rabbit that could be easily defeated with two or three skills. It couldn't have been easier…
