Chapter Fifteen: Su Wuyu, as Drunken as a Bright Peach Blossom

Qiu Duli opened the beer and poured a glass for Duanmu Ci and Chu Xinsu each. Su Wuyu, of course, didn't drink; she drank orange juice instead. Then Qiu Duli raised his glass and said, "From now on, we're all comrades in arms, so we should keep in touch—cheers!"

Duanmu Ci and Chu Xinsu both stood up and drank their drinks in one gulp. Su Wuyu thought for a moment, and finally reluctantly finished her glass of orange juice.

This action did make Duanmu Ci somewhat agree.

During the meal, Duanmu Ci noticed something: Su Wuyu, who was as cold and aloof as an iceberg, actually had a sweet tooth. She didn't even let go of the candies that were used as decorations on the plate, let alone desserts like hot red bean paste.

This piqued Duanmu Ci's curiosity—their tastes and temperament were clearly mismatched!

The atmosphere at the dinner was fairly good. The male colleagues toasted each other and talked animatedly, while the only female colleague ate quietly, creating a harmonious atmosphere.

Just as the party was about to end, Su Wuyu's phone rang suddenly, and she went out to answer it. When she returned, her eyes were red and swollen, and her gaze was lifeless. Even Chu Xinsu, who was usually oblivious to such things, could tell from Su Wuyu's appearance that something was wrong.

Qiu Duli, who seemed to be the oldest, asked hesitantly, "Teacher Su, what's wrong with you...?"

"I want to drink!" Su Wuyu suddenly said.

Chu Xinsu's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. "What did you say?"

"I said, I want to drink!" Su Wuyu said, enunciating each word clearly.

Confirming that he wasn't hallucinating, Chu Xinsu quickly called over a waiter and asked them to bring another beer, as the original one had already been finished.

What happened next was beyond everyone's expectations. Su Wuyu, who usually had a "keep away" expression, was actually drinking one glass after another, seemingly trying to get herself drunk.

Although no one understood what had happened, they still felt it wasn't right to let her drink like that. But before they could even offer any advice, Su Wuyu gave them a cold glare, which made them immediately shut up.

Even the God of Wine would get drunk drinking like that, let alone Su Wuyu, who rarely drinks. After just two or three bottles, she collapsed at the table, leaving behind three male colleagues with worried expressions.

"What...what should we do?" Chu Xinsu stammered.

"Or... how about sending him to a hotel?" Qiu Duli asked hesitantly.

"No way! It's too dangerous to send a drunk girl to a hotel alone like this!" Duanmu Ci resolutely refused.

Chu Xinsu scratched his head, "This won't work, that won't work, so what should we do? We can't just leave Teacher Su here, can we? Even if we want to take her home, we need to know where she lives!"

Qiu Duli looked left and right, his eyes lingering between Duanmu Ci and Chu Xinsu, finally settling on Duanmu Ci. "How about we let Teacher Duanmu take her in for the night?"

"No way!" Duanmu Ci refused decisively. Bringing a drunken woman home was inappropriate no matter how he looked at it, especially since there was a housekeeper, Bu Tongxun, at home...

After being rejected, Qiu Du politely but seriously analyzed, "I have a wife and children at home, so it's definitely not possible to bring Teacher Su home. Although Chu Xinsu is a decent person, he's too much of a womanizer. I don't trust him to look after Teacher Su."

Chu Xinsu: "..." How do you dialectically unify character and being a womanizer in your words...?

“But you, Teacher Duanmu, are a person of upright character and very trustworthy. Besides, we can’t take Teacher Su to a hotel or home right now. Are we just going to let her sleep on the streets like this? Teacher Duanmu, please reluctantly agree!” Qiu Duli said with great distress.

Duanmu Ci was still conflicted...

If the male teachers and students at Haishan University who secretly admired Su Wuyu were to find out that their goddess had been sent to a man's house after getting drunk, and that the man wasn't entirely willing to go, their jealousy and anger would instantly evaporate Duanmu Ci.

After a slight hesitation, Duanmu Ci finally nodded and said, "Alright, just for one night."

Qiu Duli glanced at him sideways... How many more nights do you want?

Chu Xinsu suddenly interjected, "Teacher Duanmu, what's with that expression on your face, like you've received orders from the organization and are preparing to bravely sacrifice yourself?"

Duanmu Ci, “…” That was a struggle, not a death sentence.

Duanmu Ci carried the limp Su Wuyu to the passenger seat. He tightened the seatbelt, his fingers accidentally brushing against certain places he shouldn't have touched. Duanmu Ci immediately looked up guiltily, only to see Su Wuyu's cheeks flushed red, as bright as peach blossoms, completely devoid of her usual proud and aloof demeanor. He was momentarily stunned.

"Teacher Duanmu, we're off then, see you tomorrow!" Qiu Duli and Chu Xinsu ungratefully took a taxi and left, making Duanmu Ci wonder if he had made a mistake in his friendships...

Duanmu Ci started the engine, and the instant the engine started, Su Wuyu's lips moved slightly, as if she was saying something.

Duanmu Ci quietly turned off the fire, preparing to listen to what she had to say...

"Dead..." Su Wuyu spoke again as expected. Duanmu Ci leaned closer and heard Su Wuyu say very softly—

"My father... he's dead..."
