Bai Qianmo walked into the hall, where Old Master Wei and Madam Wei were already there to greet her.
"Miss Bai," Old Master Wei spoke first.
Madam Wei, who was standing to the side, quickly glanced at Bai Qianmo and felt a surge of affection for the exceptionally beautiful young girl.
"Miss Bai, thank you so much for saving Xiao Yan. If you hadn't taken him to the police station in time, we don't know when we would have found him."
"Madam, you're too kind. I just happened to run into her. If anyone else had seen Xiaoyan wandering around alone outside, they would have called the police too."
Seeing that Bai Qianmo spoke politely and courteously, Madam Wei's goodwill towards her increased even more.
He affectionately took her hand and said, "Come sit down and let's talk. I wonder what kind of dishes Miss Bai likes to eat? The chefs in my kitchen are very skilled. Tell me a few dishes you like, and I'll have them make them for you to try."
"Apart from seafood allergies, everything else is fine."
Madam Wei's eyes widened, and she looked at Bai Qianmo with some surprise: "That's quite a coincidence. Xiaoyan is also allergic to seafood, so our family has never eaten seafood. Since you're not picky about food, I'll have the chef make a few of his specialties."
"Please do as you please."
Madam Wei gave Aunt Ping some instructions, then looked around.
"Where's Xiao Yanren? He was just here a moment ago, how could he disappear in the blink of an eye?"
A maid standing nearby said, "Young Master left before Miss Bai entered. I think he went to the back garden."
“This child, it’s so late, and he’s gone out alone again. You should go and look for him.”
Bai Qianmo said, "Madam Wei, let me go."
Madam Wei smiled and said, "That's fine. I heard from his maternal grandfather that Xiaoyan likes you very much. This child is aloof and never lets strangers get close. Besides the two of us, his great-grandmother is the closest person to him in the family."
"Aren't Xiaoyan's parents home?"
Madam Wei's expression changed slightly, and Old Master Wei said, "His parents are divorced, and his mother died in childbirth."
Bai Qianmo's heart clenched. She had thought he was a pampered young master, but she never expected that he had lost his mother.
"Old Master Wei, Old Madam Wei, I'm going to check on Xiaoyan."
Madam Wei instructed the servant beside her: "Take Miss Bai for a stroll in the back garden. If you encounter the young master, bring him back."
"Yes, Madam!"
The maid led Bai Qianmo through the long corridor to the back garden.
Apart from a few plum trees in full bloom in the corner of the garden, all the other plants were bare. At a glance, a small, thin figure could be seen squatting under a sycamore tree, and a faint "chirping" sound could be heard.
"Young Master..." the maid called out, but the man was squatting there with his back to them, not moving at all.
Bai Qianmo looked at Xiao Yan: "You go back first, I'll go take a look."
"Miss Bai, will you be able to find your way back?"
Bai Qianmo nodded, and the maid smiled and said, "The young master is here too. He can show you the way. I'll head back now."
After the maid left, Bai Qianmo walked towards Xiao Yan.
At this moment, Xiao Yan slowly stood up, holding something in his hands. He turned sideways and looked up at the trunk of the sycamore tree, as if searching for something.
"Xiao Yan?" Bai Qianmo asked.
At this moment, the two were only two or three steps apart. Upon hearing Bai Qianmo's voice, the little guy seemed to turn his head and look at her in surprise.
When she saw that it really was Bai Qianmo, her big eyes became even brighter and more dazzling.
"what are you doing here?"
"Little Bird"
Xiao Yan stretched out his arm, and Bai Qianmo looked at what he was holding in his small hands. It turned out to be a little sparrow.
"It fell from the tree," Xiao Yan explained crisply.
Bai Qianmo raised her eyes and looked up at the tree branch. It was already getting dark, and she could vaguely see a bird's nest on the branch.
"You want to put the little bird up there?"
Xiao Yan nodded, blinking her bright, dark eyes, which were quite beautiful.
Bai Qianmo stared at Xiao Yan for a while. She felt that Xiao Yan was very familiar at first glance. Now that she looked closely, Xiao Yan looked a bit like Gu Jueye when he was a child.
"How are you going to get the bird back up the tree?" Seeing that he had been observing the top of the tree, and that the little guy seemed quite clever, she was curious about how he would do it.
Xiao Yan held the little bird and smiled at Bai Qianmo, revealing two shallow dimples on either side of her mouth.
She always thought that guys with dimples were charming, and coincidentally, Gu Jueye had them too.
Bai Qianmo considers herself a high-level member of the "looks-matter" club, very picky about people, but she has no resistance to men with dimples. This child, with such a charming smile at such a young age, will probably be a heartthrob when he grows up.
As she was lost in thought, the little bird that Xiaoyan was holding suddenly rose into the air. The bird did not spread its wings; to be precise, it was being controlled by some force to rise.
Upon seeing this scene, Bai Qianmo's expression changed, and her brows furrowed tightly.
Is Xiao Yan a person with superpowers?
Xiao Yan, with her palm facing up, used her energy to send the little bird back to its nest, then looked at Bai Qianmo as if seeking praise.
Bai Qianmo squatted down, keeping her eyes level with Xiao Yan's, and stared intently into his eyes: "Xiao Yan, tell your sister, how many people know that you have this special skill?"
Xiao Yan tilted her head and thought for a moment: "Only Great-Grandma knows, and there's still my older sister."
Bai Qianmo secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thankfully no one else knew.
