The man was in his forties, of medium build, and of ordinary appearance. Compared to the men who had just harassed the woman, he appeared reserved and profound.
Moreover, he spoke without an accent, sounding like a local from Beijing.
"Brother, you're being too cautious. I was just joking."
"Some jokes are not for you to make casually. Just do your job and say less."
After being reprimanded, the fourth brother was unhappy, but he reluctantly agreed.
The car drove for more than half an hour, making many turns, and finally entered a dilapidated residential area.
Bai Qianmo secretly kept an eye on the outside world. The buildings in this community looked very dilapidated, and some of the window glass was broken.
The neighborhood was chaotic and disorganized, and I didn't see anyone along the way.
The car was parked downstairs in an apartment building.
The local man in the passenger seat took out his phone and made a call.
"The person is in the car, are you going to get on now?"
After saying something on the other end of the phone, the man responded, hung up, and said to the woman, "Take her away!"
The woman got out of the car first, grabbed Bai Qianmo's wrist, and roughly pulled her out of the car.
Bai Qianmo was very compliant throughout the journey and did not resist in the slightest.
Seeing her behavior, these people assumed she was terrified and gradually lowered their guard against her.
After climbing the stairs to the sixth floor, a local stood in front of one of the rusty iron doors and raised his hand to knock.
The sound of leather shoes clicking inside came from inside, and the next second, the door was opened.
Inside was a tall, burly foreign man with fierce eyes.
His gaze met that of the locals, and then he glanced at Bai Qianmo.
"Come in, Sister Mei is waiting for you."
The foreign man stepped aside to let them in.
Then the iron gate was slammed shut.
Bai Qianmo was covered by a black cloth, so no one would have guessed that she could actually see everything clearly.
This is a three-bedroom, two-living-room house. Compared to its dilapidated exterior, the interior has clearly been renovated.
The place was very clean. In the living room, four or five foreign men were sitting together playing cards.
There were some snacks and empty beer bottles on the coffee table.
The old man was nowhere to be seen in the living room.
As Bai Qianmo and her group entered, the group stared at them coldly.
At that moment, the door to one of the bedrooms opened, and a tall figure slowly walked out.
Upon hearing the voice, Bai Qianmo looked at the other person.
A tall woman was walking towards us. She was wearing a black bodysuit, had long hair, a black baseball cap, a mask, and sunglasses.
She was completely covered up, and apart from her great figure, nothing else could be seen.
"Bai Qianmo, you've finally arrived!"
Bai Qianmo smiled slightly: "Isn't it because it's been a long time?"
The woman's expression, hidden beneath her hat, clearly showed a moment of surprise.
She quickly suppressed her surprise and gave a soft snort: "What? Trying to get close to me?"
"Should I call you Zhang Yafei, or Miss Mei?" Bai Qianmo asked bluntly.
Mei was completely shocked. She actually knew her identity?
Bai Qianmo chuckled softly, walked straight to a chair and sat down, her gaze fixed on Mei.
"Now that I'm here, tell me, where is my grandfather?"
"You brought the jade pendant, didn't you?"
"Help me untie the rope."
Mei hesitated for a few seconds, then gave her subordinate a wink.
The other person put one hand into their pocket and pulled out a dagger.
He walked up behind Bai Qianmo and with one stroke, the hemp rope was neatly cut open.
With a loosening of her wrists, Bai Qianmo raised her hands and rubbed her slightly sore wrists.
She pulled off the black cloth covering her face and squinted.
"I must see my grandfather safe and sound!"
"Hmph, Bai Qianmo, don't try to play tricks on me. I know what kind of person you are. I won't let you see Old Master Bai until I see that jade pendant."
Bai Qianmo stared at Mei silently for a moment, hesitated for a second, then pulled open her collar and took out the white jade pendant.
The moment Mei saw the jade pendant, a change appeared in her eyes.
She walked up to Bai Qianmo and reached out to take it and examine it closely.
Bai Qianmo dodged the outstretched hand of Mei.
"You saw the jade pendant. I want to see my grandfather."
Mei sneered, "Fine, I'll show you. Bring out Old Master Bai."
In the bedroom that Mei had just come out of, two people were helping the bound Old Man Bai toward the living room.
"Now that you've seen the person, can I have the jade pendant?"
"Actually, this jade pendant is of no use to me, so I can give it to you. However, I have a question that I want answered. If you can answer this question for me, I will give you this jade pendant in person."
What do you want to know?
"You went to great lengths to get close to the Bai family just to obtain this jade pendant. What exactly is its purpose?" Bai Qianmo asked casually.
Mei stared at her silently for a moment, a cold smile creeping across her face.
Anyway, this girl isn't going to get out of here today, so it doesn't matter if I tell her.
Even if a dead person knows this secret, they will never have the chance to tell it.
Have you ever heard of the King of Qi?
Bai Qianmo suddenly remembered the parchment scroll she found in the Western Zhou tomb, which mentioned the King of Qi.
After that prehistoric flood, everything was in ruins and needed rebuilding.
Various tribes have been fighting for limited resources for many years.
