Chapter 26

Chapter 26

"Bros, you're a thief."

"You stole my magic pool."

"You've taken away my right to use magic."

"All my troubles come from you."

"Not only that, you betrayed my mother by creating more individuals whose magic pools you could steal."

"Even getting involved in the Zhentarim's slave trade!"

Miel told all the information he knew in one breath.

There was no movement in the study during his first few sentences, which made one wonder if Bross was not there.

However, when he said the last two sentences, especially the sentence "betrayed my mother", a loud noise was heard in the study.

Chairs fell to the ground, tables shifted, and the people inside seemed to be in a hurry to get up and open the door.

Sure enough, not long after, the door was opened like a hurricane, followed by a quickly chanted spell!

Do you want to take action directly? In that case——

"Touch of the Abyss!"

Before Bross could finish the spell, Miel controlled the Touch of the Abyss to attack his head!

With a "bang", Bross was hit hard on the forehead by the black tentacle, and his body slammed against the desk behind him, causing the desk to tilt backwards and then swing back to its original position by its own weight.

Bross's unconscious body slid to the ground, a large red spot on his forehead.

It seems that stealing magic power from many people will not make your body stronger.

Miel controlled the black sea formed by the touch of the abyss to swallow up Bross, leaving only his head exposed, ensuring that he could do nothing after waking up, and then entered the study to look for the book with black background and silver words.

"It's on the bookshelf, on the left." Csulola reminded him, obviously knowing what he was looking for.

Miel looked for it as he was told, and found the mysterious book on the left side of the bookshelf.

"Can you sense it?" Miel asked curiously, "Is there magic attached to it?"

"To be honest, there's a nasty smell up there." Czulola stood at the door with his arms folded, showing no intention of coming in.

Miel guessed that he didn't come in because of the unpleasant smell.

It didn't matter, the only danger in the study was already lying on the floor.

Miel studied the book in his hand intently.

The pure black cover has a leather texture, and the entire book is nearly 2 inches thick, making it perfect for hitting people with.

There is a string of silver Latin words on the cover, which means - Forbidden Book.

Latin, the forbidden book...

"The truth was right in front of me, but I retreated shamefully." Mier held the heavy book in both hands, and was hesitant to open the first page.

"Do you think I should open it?" he asked Cthulola for advice.

Cthulhu's response: "If you feel the information is worth the risk, the answer is 'yes', otherwise 'no'."

"That's a very valuable answer. It makes me hesitate... Perhaps you could try to tell me some possible consequences?"

"Madness, or death." Czulola responded quickly, as if without even thinking.

There are only two possible outcomes for those who try to explore the mysterious world in depth.

Miel was sure that he couldn't let Cthulora make the decision for him, so he took a deep breath, said something in Elvish, and opened the book from the middle.

What he said was - "Since I'm here."

The book has no dog-ears, so one can only guess by feeling which page Bross usually reads.

If it exists, it should be easy to find because the book will remember the posture maintained for a long time.

Miel turned to the page that he felt was most familiar with the book and began to read the contents.

Forbidden Magic No. 017: Magic Element Transfer

Magic effect: Transfer the magic energy in other people's blood that can generate magic to yourself, increasing your own magic reserves, that is, the magic pool.

Note: The "other" must be someone with a blood relationship with you, such as a parent or a child. The closer the blood relationship, the better the magic effect. The magic requires a part of the "other"'s body, such as hair or nails.

The reason for the taboo: once the magic essence in the "other person's" blood is transferred, one will never be able to use magic again in their lifetime.

Below this text were detailed instructions for performing the magic ritual. Miel glanced at it quickly and turned the page.

He didn't want to know how to sacrifice his loved ones to deepen his magic pool.

A few pages later, Miel came across this:

Forbidden Magic No. 019: Eye of Insight

Magic effect: See what others do and where they are.

Note: You must hold an item related to "others". The stronger the causal relationship between this item and "others", the better the magic effect.

Reason for the taboo: If there is a slight misalignment between the pointing object and the altar, one will see things that one should not see, causing mental shock and even costing one's life.

"Eye of Insight... is it forbidden magic?"

Miel looked surprised.

He didn't expect... After all, there were too many magics in this world that he didn't know about, so when Cthulola taught him, he naturally thought it was just an ordinary magic to find people.

Cthulola did say that if this magical altar wasn't built properly, it might be targeted by troublesome creatures, but he didn't expect that it would cost one's life in serious cases.

In response to this, Cthulora commented: "It is indeed dangerous for ordinary people to open the Eye of Insight on their own. It is understandable that humans have listed it as forbidden magic, but it is only taboo for humans. Of course, there are also elves. So, guess what I want to say?"

"Was this book written by humans or elves?" Miel guessed.

"To be precise, it was written from a human perspective—and it's not just humans who can stand from a human perspective."

"Yes, how could someone come into contact with so much forbidden magic and still be able to compile it into a book with a clear mind? If he is not a scholar who has spent his entire life studying forbidden magic, then he must have become some kind of dangerous existence, or perhaps, he has always been one."

Miel said as he flipped the book back to the table of contents.

The other pages didn't seem to be frequently read, but this book must contain other secrets, such as—what did Burrows intend to do with such enormous magical power?

A 500-year-old elf is about to enter old age. Is it to maintain his youthful appearance? To achieve immortality?

I don't know if I can find the answer in the catalog.

Search Target: Spells that require a large amount of mana.

Steal... Spy... Sacrifice... Resurrection...

Miel's slender fingers moved across the black pages of the book, and suddenly stopped when his fingertips touched the word "resurrection".

Forbidden Magic No. 146: Resurrection Ritual

Resurrection...was that what he understood it to mean? Back to life?

Miel quickly turned to that page.

Magic effect: Resurrect a person's body, allowing it to return from a dead state and have normal vital signs.

Note: The body should be kept as intact as possible and the time of death should not exceed 72 hours.

Reason for taboo: The resurrection ritual requires a large amount of magic power. Insufficient magic power reserves will consume vitality. Insufficient vitality will cause the ritual to be interrupted and death. Even if it succeeds, only the physical body will be resurrected. Summoning the soul requires another ritual.

"resurrection……"

Miel thought of his mother Mife. If Bros wanted to resurrect anyone, it would only be Mife.

But Miffel has been dead for more than twenty years, and Bross has slept with so many women, how could he have the nerve to resurrect his mother?

Every magic in "The Forbidden Book" subverts Miel's cognition.

Miel closed the book and paused for a moment before concluding, "It's now certain that Bross is constantly creating children who inherit his bloodline in order to steal their magic pools for his own use. But why does he need such a huge amount of magic? The book has too many possible answers. I can't get the truth on my own. I have to wait until he wakes up and ask him."

"Then, shall I wake him up?" Csulola came to Bross and let the black ocean support his body so that he could "stand" in front of him.

The man's forehead was visibly red and swollen, and he didn't look like he would be able to wake up on his own in the short term.

"You have a way to wake him up? That's great!" Miel stuffed the "Forbidden Book" into his family ring.

He would rather carry such a dangerous book with him than let others get it.

Miel came to Czulola's side and watched his movements curiously.

Czulola raised one hand and swung it through the air very quickly, and the inside of his palm collided hard with Bross's cheek.

"Pa!", a slap.

Miel: “…”

Bross's eyelashes fluttered, and his eyelids lifted, revealing a pair of blue eyes, slightly lighter than Miel's.

After he woke up, he realized that he couldn't move. He frowned at first, then chanted a spell quickly!

Czulola's hand was still raised in the air. Seeing this, he swung it back, and the back of his hand hit Bross's other cheek.

"Pa!" Another slap.

The spell was broken, and Bross fell back into unconsciousness.

Miel: “…”

There are so many things to complain about that I don’t know which one to complain about first.

So much so that Cthulala got there first.

Cthulora: "Your father is as persistent as you are."

Miel really didn't want to be told that: "You can say I'm persistent, but you can't say I'm like him. No matter what I pursue, the truth, or anything else, I will never do it at the expense of others."

"I know." Czulola responded. Perhaps sensing Miel's dissatisfaction, she apologized readily, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't compare him with you. He doesn't deserve it."

Miel hummed, feeling a little better.

but……

"What should we do next... Lola, don't you have any magic that can read memories?"

"If I possessed such magic, I would study you directly by reading your memories."

"That's right."

"Try to wake him up again?" Csulola suggested.

"Try it." Miel accepted the suggestion.

So Cthulora slapped Bross again.

After a "slap" sound, Bross opened his eyes with three slap marks on his face.

Czulola's hand was raised, ready to slap him again and knock him unconscious.

After being slapped three times, even a bull would have changed its strategy, not to mention that Bross was a high-level wizard and scholar who had spent most of his life immersed in the ocean of knowledge. He shouldn't be so stupid.

He indeed stopped chanting the spell in the ancient Elvish language and said in modern Elvish: "Miel, you have a good guard."

"Are you finally willing to have a good talk with me?" Miel also responded in Elvish, "Bros, tell me, what exactly do you want to do?"

Bross sneered: "What can you do even if you know? Can you still help me?"

Miel: "It seems that you also know that what you are doing is not something that is above board and can convince others to help you?"

Bross: "Set me free and I'll tell you everything I've learned so far."

Miel: "You're lying to me."

Miel: "You have been lying to me for so many years. Do you think I will still believe you?"

Miel didn't know what kind of mood Bross was in keeping him by his side all these years.

Stealing his magic pool saved his life but buried his future.

He had always thought that it was his own problem, and he felt inferior and self-deprecating. He regretted showing off his magic so ostentatiously when he was young and overdrawing his talent.

It turned out that he was not a loser or a fool, but the victim of a madman.

"Bruce, I'll give you one last chance. Tell me everything. Otherwise, I'll send you to see my mother. You'll have to confess all your words to her."

Miel was serious, not just threatening.

Some things would be better if Bross said them himself, but he was unwilling to say them, and there was no need for him to keep his life in pursuit of the truth.

Criminals should go where they belong.

"Shut up!" Bross suddenly became emotional. "Don't mention your mother! If it weren't for you! If it weren't for you! She wouldn't... She wouldn't..."

"Who is more unworthy of mentioning my mother? A victim whose magic pool was stolen, or a criminal who slept with many women and gave birth to children, with blood on her hands and riddled with sins!"

Most of the time Miel's emotions are very stable, but sometimes he is in turmoil inside but appears calm.

But now, all his patience was exhausted with Burrows.

Unable to bear it any longer, he raised his voice and said, "If you think I killed my mother, then tell me how I killed her. You said nothing, nothing! If you can't come up with a satisfactory explanation, why should I accept your accusation?"

"Okay, I tell you, it's all because of--" Bross suddenly uttered a few syllables that were only found in the ancient elven language.

Miel suddenly realized that something was wrong, but it was too late.

The surrounding temperature dropped significantly.

Bross didn't know when he finished chanting the "Ice Sigh" spell - did he hide the syllables that could drive magic power in seemingly normal words?

He is really smart, but why doesn't he use his wisdom in the right way?

Miel’s first reaction was to grab Cthulola’s hand—Lola, save me!

Touch of the Abyss can block direct attacks like Magic Missiles, but cannot block environmental attacks like Ice's Sigh.

If he fails to open the portal in time to escape from here, he will turn into an ice sculpture again.

Csulola's previous rescues were always timely, and he always took Miel to a safe place before he could react. However, this time, for some reason, Csulola did not do so.

Did you forget to place the eyeball in advance?

Miel looked at Csulola's face in confusion, only to see the latter suddenly look up as if he had realized something.

Almost the next moment he looked up, accompanied by a loud "bang", a big hole appeared in the ceiling of the study!

The Akunila House has three floors, not including the basement, and Burrows's study is on the first floor.

The afternoon sun penetrated the two floors and fell on the dark red carpet in the study on the first floor, dispelling some of the chill.

Miel stared at the scene blankly, thinking that he was probably dreaming.

The Akunela Mansion, the most solid building in Snow City, was pierced from top to bottom by such a force?

Suddenly, I caught a glimpse of bright red out of the corner of my eye.

Miel looked up with a stunned expression, and saw a shirtless man standing in mid-air, falling slowly through the big hole in the ceiling of the study.

His movement was very slow, like a red spider lily slowly sinking into the deep sea.

Why Lycoris radiata?

Because he has long bright red hair, which is longer than his waist and curls in elegant curves.

Her fair skin was so dazzling in the sunlight that it seemed to be glowing.

On that strange and handsome face, in a pair of golden eyes, there was undisguised contempt and disdain, as if everything under his feet were ants.

Miel didn't notice that Bross's magic had stopped.

I didn't notice that Bross's expression was dull at the moment, as if he had just woken up.

Miel's entire attention was drawn to the red-haired man.

I heard him say this in an extremely arrogant tone: "Two pieces of trash. Especially you, my tentacle."

The author has something to say:
