Chapter 68

"Doctor Bai, look, it's here!" Yu Yao shook Bai Fang happily, pointed to an inconspicuous corner on the table, and pulled Bai Fang to look down.

Among a bunch of fancy carvings and handwriting, there is indeed a small name of Bai Fang engraved there. It is just two very small characters, but it is not covered by other graffiti. Instead, other graffiti avoid these two characters and paint on the edges. So among a bunch of messy patterns, only these two small characters are left alone. They are not very conspicuous at first glance, but you can notice them immediately if you look closely.

"Really?" Bai Fang lowered his head in confusion, "But I don't remember carving my name on it. Strange."

"Could it be that someone carved it for you? Or did you forget?" Yu Yao touched the two small words with her fingers. The outline of the carving was clearly imprinted on her fingers, as if it could be copied at any time. Yu Yao touched it with her fingers and was very happy.

"Maybe I've forgotten. I'm not sure what I thought before." Bai Fang supported his chin and nodded, staring at the scratches on the table in a daze. He could see that Yu Yao was picking at it carefully, as if she really liked it, but she couldn't move the table home. She could only touch it again and again, and then show a happy expression.

"Do you like it so much?" Bai Fang couldn't help but ask, "If you like it, I can carve one on your tools when I get home."

Yu Yao chuckled, "That's not necessary. If you carve it on my furniture, it will definitely cry and yell at me. It might even start to doubt its life and have a lower opinion of you. It might even keep nagging me about your faults and disapprove of us being together."

"Nowadays, people are free to fall in love. Why should tools object to our relationship?" Bai Fang was confused.

"Anyway, I'm tired of listening to it every day." Yu Yao raised her head with a smile, "You have that pen with you, right?"

Bai Fang nodded.

"Let me use it!" Yu Yao didn't know what he was planning, but she looked very happy, so Bai Fang handed it to her.

She excitedly held the pen and carefully wrote her own name in the same size under Bai Fang's name. One was Bai Fang and the other was Yu Yao, tightly next to each other, with a little heart drawn next to them. Anyone who didn't know would know at a glance that they were a couple's names put together.

Noticing Yu Yao's little thought, Bai Fang couldn't help but smile. His heart was pounding with sweetness at this little gesture. He touched her for a long time, just wanting to put his own name next to hers.

"Look, my name is here too." Yu Yao was happy after she finished writing.

"Yeah, they look like a good match." Bai Fang agreed.

Yu Yao's cheeks flushed, she felt happy and shy at the same time. She held her cheeks and stared at the table again and again, then took out her cell phone to take a photo to take back.

"Let me help you carve it." Seeing how much she liked it, Bai Fang offered, "Written on paper will wear off quickly, but engraved on paper won't. It will last forever."

Yu Yao blinked, "But we didn't bring anything that can be engraved, right?"

"That's no problem." Bai Fang stood up, looked around the classroom, and then went straight to the podium. He bent down and looked around, and picked out a piece of utility knife that was taped to the edge of the podium.

"How could there be a utility knife there?" Yu Yao looked at Bai Fang in confusion as he came back with a blade, also bewildered.

"Our school has a strict ban on bringing knives, not even box cutters. But you see there are marks on every desk, so they must have been made with something. Everyone secretly hid a box cutter somewhere the teacher wouldn't notice, so we consider it a shared use. Anyone who uses a box cutter to do something bad will be scorned by the whole class."

"Oh...Is that so?" Yu Yao seemed to understand, and watched Bai Fang come back with a utility knife and start carving along the words Yu Yao had just written.

It has been many years since anyone had used a knife to carve words on the table. Bai Fang was also unfamiliar with the technique, and he was carving carefully and with some difficulty. Yu Yao's heart was tense, fearing that she would accidentally cut her hand. She lay on the table and stared at it for a long time, not daring to blink.

But Bai Fang still carved it bit by bit, blew away the wood chips on the surface, and touched Yu Yao's words. The two names were next to each other and could not be erased even by grinding. It looked like they would always be together.

"I like it!" Yu Yao happily reached out and touched the name, then took out her phone and took a few photos. This messy graffiti desktop, with two small carved names next to each other as the main body, actually looked pretty good in the photos. She happily changed it to her phone wallpaper and looked at it again and again.

"My name appears on Dr. Bai's former desk, and I also left my own name next to it. It feels like I have been next to Dr. Bai." Yu Yao stared at the table happily, almost bubbling with happiness. Thinking of this, her face was full of joy.

Bai Fang put the utility knife back and turned around to see Yu Yao still lying on the table, touching the name on it, as if she wanted to stay there all night.

"Do you like her that much?" Bai Fang reached out and touched her head. He had no resistance to such a lovely Yu Yao.

"I like it!" Yu Yao nodded with sparkling eyes. "I'll show it to Mother Bai when I get home. She's sure to like it too."

Bai Fang responded and turned to glance out the window. After the sun set, it was slowly getting dark. It would become more chaotic here after dark. She didn't really want Yu Yao to go back later, so she took her hand and said, "Let's go back. Maybe my mother is already waiting for us to go back."

"Okay." Yu Yao glanced at the table reluctantly, "We'll have to go out and look somewhere else tomorrow."

"Yeah." Bai Fang pulled her out of the classroom.

Almost everyone who stayed in the school had left, and the door was about to be locked. The two of them walked downstairs hand in hand and walked out.

As they passed the school gate, the security guard stared at the two people for a long time in confusion, looking at them for a while, then at their holding hands, a little confused, "Students are openly dating nowadays, and the school doesn't care?"

"What should we cook for dinner when we get home?" Bai Fang pulled Yu Yao and walked back slowly. "We can't let my mom cook alone, or she'll be hungry tonight. Let's make something delicious together."

"Let's go back and see what dishes are available. I want to make something delicious for Mother Bai!" Yu Yao nodded excitedly.

The two of them returned home hand in hand before it was completely dark. When they arrived near the door, they saw Bai's mother standing not far from the door and making a phone call. Her back was quite beautiful, but one of her high heels was stepping on a stone pillar by the roadside. She was cursing something while talking to the person on the other end of the phone. The atmosphere didn't seem very gentle, and everyone around her retreated away.

"I'm so angry. What a bunch of useless people. They keep telling us to clear the area, but there are still people staring in the corner and we just can't get rid of all the rats." After hanging up the phone, Mother Bai turned around angrily and domineeringly. When she looked up and saw Yu Yao, who was held by Bai Fang's hand, a smile immediately appeared on her face, and she became much gentler and kinder.

"You're back?" She walked over quickly and took Yu Yao's hand with concern. "Where did you go to play?"

Yu Yao took out her phone with a happy look and showed her the photo. "We went to school and left this on Doctor Bai's old desk."

She pointed at the two names on the photo, her face full of anticipation for comments. A pair of bright eyes stared at her from behind the phone, making it impossible to say anything bad about them.

"Okay, okay, this kind of couple thing is really... very suitable for you. If I had a lover, I would also, probably do something like this." Mother Bai smiled and pulled Yu Yao into the house.

With Bai's mother's personality, she would never think of doing such a silly and cute thing. It is indeed a sweet thing between lovers, but normal people would not think of it.

Seeing his mother's perfunctory response, Bai Fang had to change the subject, "What do you want to eat? Yu Yao said she wanted to cook for you."

"Cook for me?"

"Yeah!" Yu Yao nodded vigorously, her face full of excitement. "Whatever you want to eat, I can make it."

Seeing such a cute expression, she paused for a moment and said, "I want to eat Buddha Jumps Over the Wall."

Yu Yao was stunned and froze.

"Is it, isn't it a bit difficult? And it will take several days to make it." Yu Yao responded blankly, and glanced at the kitchen with some annoyance. She was not very good at making such a complicated dish. It would also waste ingredients and easily go wrong. It would take a lot of time and effort to make it. What if Mother Bai didn't like it after eating it?

The drooping curve of Yu Yao's mouth was visible to the naked eye. She looked at Bai Fang for help with a look of grievance, innocent and pitiful.

Bai Fang turned around and glared at his mother who was trying to hold back her laughter.

Look! This is how you treat your beloved daughter-in-law!

"Come into the kitchen, she eats everything." Bai Fang took Yu Yao away.

"But Buddha Jumps Over the Wall..." Yu Yao looked at Mother Bai hesitantly.

Mother Bai put on a good show, sighing and showing a look of regret, "It's okay, it doesn't matter if I can't eat it. I'm just thinking about it, I don't really want to eat it, don't take it to heart."

After hearing this, Yu Yao became even more panicked. While she said it was okay and she didn't want to eat, she showed an expression of regret and really wanted to eat.

Yu Yao's face was almost wrinkled with worry. She looked up at Bai Fang pitifully and said, "How about...we go buy some food?"

Bai Fang was so angry that he jumped up and glared at his mother, "I told you not to bully Yu Yao! And you still bully her!!"

"How could you talk to your mother like that?" Mother Bai looked at Bai Fang with an aggrieved expression, pretending to be a loving mother with a sad face. "I worked so hard to raise you, and now my face has several more wrinkles. Finally, you have matured and grown up, and now you look down on me as your mother. I love Yu Yao so much, how could I bully her?"

She spoke vividly, covering her mouth with her hands and making a sad expression, her shoulders shaking slightly, as if she was sobbing.

Bai Fang could tell at a glance that she was trying so hard to hold back her laughter, but Yu Yao was the only one who was foolish enough to be fooled.

"Doctor Bai, this won't do! You can't be mean to Bai's mother!" Yu Yao pulled Bai Fang and whispered.

Bai Fang slumped his shoulders. "How could I be mean to her... She's just too dramatic and likes to lie to children."

Yu Yao said confidently, "I'm not a child, how could Mother Bai lie to me!"

Bai Fang: ...

Who was the person who was cheated as soon as he got home and was crying with tears and snot hugging her?
