Chapter 20
We drove past a flower shop, its glass display displaying a wealth of precious flowers. The peonies were particularly beautiful, with large, round buds, each a dreamy, candy-like pink. The pink gathered from the spheres to the center, gradually fading to a pale yellow, a vibrant hue. Outside, the night lights shone brightly, and the sea of flowers in the window seemed like a miniature fairytale world, with countless flower fairies hidden within the blossoms.
Wang Jiazhi said sadly, "No one has ever given me flowers. Probably never in my lifetime."
Gradually, the sea of flowers in the window became farther away. She turned her head to look at him. He was staring out the window in a daze. She didn't know what he was thinking about.
She seldom dared to look into his eyes, and mostly looked at his profile like this. She liked him like this, his eyes were not fierce or harsh, but peaceful and calm, like the moon in an autumn pond.
It was already late at night when she got home that day. She turned on the light, took a shower and prepared to go to bed.
When I was about to turn off the lights after taking a shower, I found that the flowers next to the mirror had changed. They were replaced with peonies, the kind in the window.
She walked up to it in disbelief, and for a moment she suspected that she was too tired and her eyes were dizzy.
The clock struck twelve, and everything felt even more dreamlike.
In the pitch-black night, the mirror reflected her image, and next to it were the flowers she had admired in the window a few hours ago. She was enveloped in the intoxicating, cool fragrance of the flowers. This was an unreal night.
It took her a while to remember what he said to the driver before getting off the car.
He wasn't looking out the window at that time, but at her reflection on the car window. She was staring at the window of the flower shop.
She reached out to touch the flower, then pulled her hand back as if pricked by a needle, as if it were an untouchable dream.
I went to the flower shop in the middle of the night to buy precious peonies, and then placed them in her room, and everything seemed as if nothing had happened.
The next day she woke up, the sunlight illuminated the room brightly, and the flower just sat there quietly. With so many flowers, how could he know that she just liked this one?
He is indeed a very shrewd man. There is nothing he can't see.
Wang Jiazhi thought to herself and struggled, "He's an expert in the entertainment industry. There's nothing he can't do. Don't take yourself too seriously."
Two alarm clocks rang simultaneously, and Wang Jiazhi and Xiaoshuang both struggled to get up. They could have just set the alarm, but each was afraid the other would forget, so they both set the alarm.
Wang Jiazhi had a dream all night, feeling haggard and listless. She looked at the peony flowers beside her, and the fragrance of the flowers again reminded her of the past.
Did he encourage himself last night by saying he would find someone else he liked? Never mind, he probably had forgotten who she was.
Wang Jiazhi was wearing lilac pajamas, with frizzy hair and dark circles under her eyes. She was hugging a pillow and staring blankly.
Xiao Shuang said: "What's wrong, go to class."
Wang Jiazhi looked at the flower again, touched it twice, packed up and went to class.
