Her aunt scolded her severely, saying that she had just caught a minor cold but she had made such a fuss that she howled in the middle of the night and could not sleep, and she refused to do her housework.

Wang Jiazhi had to lie down for another day before she could go to class.

She had no classes that afternoon, so she wandered around the streets. If she went home too early, she wondered what heavy work her aunt would ask her to do. She really couldn't do it anymore, especially since she was still sick.

Wang Jiazhi looked at the shop windows. It was so beautiful inside: gorgeous furs, bright dresses, and precious jewelry. But none of it had anything to do with her. She was just a passerby in front of all this beauty.

She stopped in front of the window of a flower shop, a small world of flowers in winter. The door of the flower shop opened, and a girl and her boyfriend walked out. The boy held the girl's hand with one hand and held a large bouquet of red English roses with the other.

Wang Jiazhi looked at her own reflection in the glass. She was wearing a worn blue cotton-padded jacket, her hair was dry and her face was sallow. Her presence here was really a disservice.

Wang Jiazhi walked dejectedly on the street. When she felt tired and wanted to go back, she found herself here again.

She shook her head, and the feeling of pain and despair came back.

It was still the same, she was alone, alone on the street.
