Chu Tianche was the only one left in the room.
He took a deep puff of the cigarette, the scarlet flame flickering in the darkness, illuminating his gloomy face.
"Chen Xiaoru... who are you?" Chu Tianche murmured in a low voice. He thought of that night, the woman's passionate body, those captivating eyes, and her soft singing. All of them were like branding, deeply engraved in his mind.
He turned around, walked to the desk, and swept everything on the desk to the ground. Documents, pens, ashtrays... all fell to the ground with a crackling sound.
He paced back and forth in the room like a trapped beast, his chest heaving violently, as if he had accumulated a huge amount of energy that was ready to explode at any time.
He needed an answer, an answer that could explain the doubts in his heart.
Meanwhile, in S City, the morning breeze blew gently, bringing a hint of coolness and a faint salty smell. The sun shone on the beach, dyeing the soft sand a dazzling golden color.
The waves gently hit the shore, making a rhythmic sound, like a soothing piece of music played by nature.
Chen Xiaoru stood quietly on the beach, the sea breeze blowing her long hair, making it dance gently in the air. A few strands of hair playfully brushed against her cheeks, bringing a slight tickle. She was wearing a plain long dress and was barefoot, her toes sinking deeply into the soft sand.
She raised her head and looked at the sun rising gradually in the sky. The golden light spread out little by little, dyeing the sky and the sea with a layer of warm color.
She slowly closed her eyes and took a deep breath. The fresh air, mixed with the smell of the sea, made her feel refreshed. Last night's fatigue seemed to have drifted away with the sea breeze. She felt more relaxed than ever.
"It's so beautiful..." she whispered softly, but her voice was blown away by the sea breeze and melted into the boundless sky and earth.
She walked slowly along the coastline. The soft sand made a slight friction sound under her feet. The waves surged up from time to time, kissing her ankles and bringing bursts of coolness.
She bent down and picked up a small, delicate shell, gleaming with colorful light in the sunlight. She put the shell to her ear and seemed to hear the sound of the sea, a deep and melodious sound, like an ancient ballad, telling the story of the sea.
She walked aimlessly, enjoying this rare tranquility and freedom.
She walked to a reef, sat down, held the shell in her palm, and stared at it quietly.
She didn't know how long she sat there until the sunlight became dazzling and she slowly opened her eyes.
She stood up and stretched, feeling her body stretch and relax.
Time flies, and by the time Chu Tianche finished dealing with things in Europe, a month had passed.
President's Office.
Assistant Zhou
Chu Tianche leaned back on the soft leather seat, crossed his fingers, and spoke casually.
"Go and call Chen Xiaoru." His voice was low and no emotion could be heard, but Zhou Chen could feel the hidden surge beneath the calmness.
Zhou Chen bowed slightly, with a hint of embarrassment on his face:
"President, Secretary Chen...she was fired by the old lady."
He carefully observed Chu Tianche's expression, fearing that the president would get angry.
"Fired?"
Chu Tianche's body suddenly sat up straight, and his clasped hands loosened and slammed on the table, making a dull "bang" sound.
He frowned, his sharp gaze fixed on Zhou Chen, his tone filled with suppressed anger:
"What's going on? I, the CEO, didn't even know my secretary was fired?"
When he spoke, his speech was extremely fast, and with the pressure of a superior, it made Zhou Chen feel a little difficult to breathe.
Zhou Chen gritted his teeth and continued:
"It was...it was the day we left on a business trip that Madam came to the company in person and fired Secretary Chen."
He lowered his head, not daring to look Chu Tianche in the eye, and his voice became smaller and smaller, like the humming of a mosquito.
Chu Tianche's face darkened, and a cold aura emanated from his body. He was silent for a moment before he slowly spoke in a voice so cold it could be seen:
"You go out first."
He waved his hand, signaling Zhou Chen to leave, but the air pressure around him did not drop at all.
Zhou Chen felt as if he had been pardoned. He quickly left the office, gently closing the door and isolating himself from the suffocating low pressure.
He stood outside the door, took a long breath, and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Not everyone could withstand the CEO's anger.
Chu Tianche sat alone in the empty office. He slowly turned the pen in his hand, making a light "click, click" sound, again and again, as if knocking on his tense nerves.
He picked up the phone on the table and dialed a number.
“Beep—beep—”
The long wait echoed in the silent office, and each sound was like a heavy hammer hitting his heart, making him more and more irritated.
Finally, the call was connected.
"Hello?" A graceful voice came with a hint of indifference.
"It's me." Chu Tianche's voice was low and suppressed, and no emotion could be heard.
"Tian Che? How come you have time to call me?"
On the other end of the phone, Chu's mother's voice rose slightly, with a hint of surprise.
"I ask you"
Chu Tianche didn't beat around the bush and asked directly, "What's going on with Chen Xiaoru?"
Mother Chu seemed stunned for a moment, then chuckled:
"Oh, you mean that secretary? I fired her." Her tone was light, as if she was talking about an insignificant matter.
